Dolls with extreme facial expressions.

May 2, 2014

    1. I'm finding myself drawn to some of the more extreme molds lately. I think it may be because I have been in the hobby for a long time and I already have plenty of sweet neutral faces. I only want to buy a new doll if it is different from what I already have.

    2. The only one I've like is Pong.
I just see l that little one as ALWAYS being happy.
Otherwise I don't like the idea of a doll being "stuck" in one expression.

    3. Personally, extreme facial expressions are a hit or miss for me. I either like them, or I do not. It is kind of like: I enjoy seeing pictures, but I will never actually own the sculpt. My only exception right now is IOS Infernale.

    4. I like some of them yes, but I don't like particularly REALISTIC facial expressions or sculpts. The crying doll is a little too much for me.

    5. I think Chibi Unoa with her crazy grin is adorable. I don't have any immediate plans to own one myself, but I love seeing what their owners do with them.

I'm inclined to agree that a doll with an extreme facial expression would be pretty limiting, which is why it's cool when companies (like Unoa, again) use faceplates as a mean of changing a doll's look. That said, I can see where an extreme expression might just suit a character perfectly. I was really impressed with the Attack on Titan Levi doll IoS did. I was hoping to see one crop up in the galleries at some point!

    6. Same with me. Pong is adorable. Other molds with extreme facial expressions are too much for me though.

    7. I love to see pictures of some doll with really, really extreme facial expressions (like IOS Infernale) but I'll probably never buy one. Other dolls, like Pipos Cheshire and some RealPukis are on the edge of the uncanny valley, for me. When I was a child I never stood the grin on the great part of my Barbies. I preferred and still prefer more neutral expression, especially a faint smile. I'm currently really attracted by Souldoll Joelle.D's grin, but I don't know if I can really bound with him. Like others, I'm really emphatic with my dolls and when they have neutral expression I can perceive them in different way according to my current mood.

    8. Anyone remember Notdoll Lab's ( I think it was ND, might be wrong) Toadstool? That tiny had the most extreme expression ever, even trumping Mona, IMO. Some extreme expressions are cute, but I like the option to change faceplates. I love my Unoa's Bully face, but it's nice to switch her out to Sist or Lusis for a change in expression.

    9. I actually am not a fan of extreme expressions, with the exception of only Mona! Most extreme expressions feel too artificial. To me, Mona genuinely looks like she's crying. I'd love to get her someday, but I'm not sure I could since I would always feel so bad for her!

    10. I think having a doll that looked like it was crying all the time would make me really depressed. I guess I have this preconceived notion of beauty that I want my dolls to fit. And Mona....while interesting... isn't really my 'thing' i guess you could say. Im honestly surprised to see how many people are actually interested in owning her! I guess it really just goes to show that not everyone has the same preferences when it comes to stuff like that ^^;;

    11. I am not a fan of extremely expressive facial expressions, though I love seeing pictures of other people's. Unless a severe pout counts. I do adore pouty dolls.

I find Mona to be much too sad and she would probably depress me to be around my house O.O She is full on balling her eyes out :(

Fairyland Pongpong is definitely my favourite. She just makes me smile by how adorably happy she is!

    12. I like smiley dolls, such as Realpuki Soso, Pukipuki/Pukifee Pongpong, MNF Juri '11 and Ninodoll Bada, and open mouthed dolls like Soom Lami/Trachy/Feny/Necy surprise heads, Onlydoll Ranxue (I own two of these now...), and Unoa Akubi, and smirking/winking faceplates like the Unoa Wink and bully, Souldoll Joelle.D, and I'm even waiting on a worried-looking doll, 5Stardoll Aiden, but I can't see myself owning a Mona, unless I like... modded her eyes to see if she could look... happier? Idk.

    13. I really like Mona. She'd make a good ghost with some tragic unfinished business. Although I can see where people would get depressed looking at her cry for eternity. Some of RingDoll's dolls have really dark backstories, but they are intriguing.

I love Pong and some of the happier dolls, too.

    14. It's not something I would go for personally, because it would kind of creep me out having such a doll around my room. If the sculpt was less realistic I might be interested in a crying sculpt, but I really don't like the overly happy looking ones.

    15. Fairyland pukifee Pong and puki cupid 2 and 3. So happy!

    16. I love extreme facial expressions. I really like my dolls with large grins. I don't think I would own a Ringdoll Mona though because I mainly want male sculpts.

    17. I don't usually like dolls with expressions I like the faint smile but mainly the neutral look for me it is so easy to work with. I am not a fan of sleeping dolls either or dolls with patially closed eyes. but I have to admit I am planning on buying a Souldoll Joelle.D http://souldoll.com/shop/step1.php?number=3490&b_code=B20041001064437 he has an absolutly hamdsome face but it is that cheeky ass smirk that gets me. he is perfect to mod in one vampire tooth and make him into a very convincing vampire

I just wish there where more pictures of him out there apart from the default pics from the company

    18. for some reason is the thought of a doll with an exstreme facial expression pretty awesome. But i think i'd get tired of it. A very happy smile wouldn't really work if you're making a story where he/she is sad. They'd be good for showing, but i would'nt take one home and be happy afterwards.

    19. I really prefer neutral expressions. My Bambicrony Emilys are perfectly neutral, as is the Iplehouse Rexy. Migidoll Owen has a slight frown, Leekeworld Mabel has a small smile from some angles, but the most extreme 'expression' I have is one with closed eyes.

    20. I do not like the unoa chibi faceplate with the big grin but well, maybe I'm gonna like it after a while. But I do love extreme face expressions. I remember unidoll (?) Ark with his angry face and I love it! Also for ringdoll Mona. And I love gaping dolls like the dollzone christmas baby c I have and the Darak gaping girl :)
