Dolls without face-ups?

Nov 18, 2012

    1. I love hearing all these different opinions. :)

    2. It does depend on the doll. I have seen a few doll with blanks faces ( hope I used the word right) that look frightened out of their mind. and also I kind of like looking at all the dolls with make up and stuff on em. But there have been a few with blank faces that look absolutely amazing.

    3. I personally dislike having blank dolls. As previously stated, I feel that it actually takes away from the realism of the doll itself.
Although I don't like extremely overdone faceups, I do believe that dolls need at least lip colour and eyelashes to be realistic.
Otherwise, it gets kind of creepy, staring at a face with only one colour. @_@
Anyway, that's just my personal preference. I do like looking at blank dolls once in a while though.

    4. I don't mind the no make-up thing. What bothers me is them not having eyelashes. Not sure why, but the whole no eyelash look bugs me profusely!!!

    5. One of my girls, I was seriously considering leaving with no faceup because the sculpt looked beautiful without one. If I don't like her next faceup she may revert back to just having a blank face. In the end it really depends on the dolls sculpt, and the owners preference.

    6. LOL That just made my day! :)

    7. I have a blank doll on my nightstand, waiting for a faceup. She's adorable, but I think they have so much more personality when they have faces!

    8. I'm okay with either blank or faceup'd dolls. I don't personally own any blanks right now, but I have seen some in person that looked neat.

    9. My dolls all have face ups, but that's only because I find them odd lokking without eye brows, even though my first one still doesn't have any. Some dolls are more attractive blank, while others are quite creepy looking. It all depends on the sculpt and your personal preference

    10. I don't like face ups that waaay over done, but blanks are a little creepy looking they look expressionless.

    11. I don't mind blank dolls, some have really nice sculpt and even without face-up they look good. Although for me I prefer my dolls have a face-up. I feel it gives them a personal though, that little oomph and special thing that is particular to them. Or else I feel if I left them blank they would just look like any other dolls of the same sculpt (I mean of course if we don't include the eyes, wigs, clothes, etc.)

    12. I actually hate seeing dolls without face ups. I feel like they look almost alien, without eyelashes or anything else. I don't like it, but to each their own :)

    13. I only have one blank doll. Can we share a photo too? I hope so. Because here is my DIM Gayane. Would very much like to see more blank dolls. I have an extensive collection but Gayane is my only blank. I like her that way. I don't know why, but she appeals to me this way.

    14. Even though there's no face up some of them are still pretty <3

    15. For me, it depends on the sculpt. I find a lot of them go be very scary when they have no color on their faces! But there are a few I don’t mind at all with blank faces :)

    16. I have yet to see a blank face that doesn't make my skin crawl. Maybe not in the creepy way but from an artists standpoint its like a blank canvas on a wall just glaring at you to put something on it! Now I can handle some mildly detailed ones but other than that they just feel unfinished. :(

    17. Personally, I can never keep a blank doll. They look strange and lifeless to me. I feel bad for saying that. D; Although my experience has been that they look weirder in photos than they do in person. (My sister has a blank doll) I always just buy the company faceup. ;p It's hard for my to in-vision them looking like anything else other than the official photos on the sites.

    18. Sometimes I just want a doll with just freckles and eyebrows! It would be just to cute!!! :fangirl: MY doll was blank for a long time so I don't know what I will enjoy more.

    19. I don't own a blank doll yet, I just ordered one because I want to learn to do face-up's. I think blank dolls can look beautiful, the only time I find dolls creepy is without eyes. I enjoy to look at box openings but some dolls just look scary without eyes.

    20. Three of my dolls don't have face up's. I think it allows for more expressive photography because in some pics the doll can look like their smiling, or crying depending on the angle. Without a specific look to their face it can be even more so.
