1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    6. I'm new but, ...is this a fluke? Does Dollzone always know how to make a good looking doll?

      • x 1
    7. As someone who has been around for a long time, no, this is not a fluke. DollZone has always made good-looking dolls. Maybe they weren't always everyone and their mother's cup of tea. Particularly the styling and face paint apps, but the sculpting was always decent. Even in the earlier years (I only own two ancient DZ dolls). They have greatly improved aesthetically over the years, but so has every other company that has been around for as long as DZ.

I don't believe I've ever came across such a weird assumption for any other BJD company or artist before. Not saying it's bad, just really weird. DX

    8. Well, my story is that I didn't know what a bjd was until the beginning of this year. Then, I started reading here [DoA] that the two biggest regrets users have were: not having a theme to their collection AND being prejudice about which doll size dominates their collection. Both decisions lead to a major overhaul of their collection; they sell it all and start a new.
So, I was like "Maybe I should try a few SD sculpts". But, I felt like all of the companies were upsizing to 70cm+ dolls, and I'm like "if I wanted to make a couple in the future, having a collection of 60cm and 75cm dolls might not go well".) Then, I saw a head sculpt that was with a Dollzone body and I said "okay". And, when I started looking up Dollzone, I so far have not outright really disliked a sculpt, yet. Is that odd? But, the big guy will be my only Dollzone, so far. I wish I could've bought things like the "Nana" dolls, the dragon men, "The Beast", etc. (Including any 'in stock' Daisy sculpts, etc.)

Wanting to buy all of them is not good for my wallet.

    9. This hobby is constantly coming out with new sculpts and your wallet will weep because of that. Should you decide to pursue MP access here, it'll become dangerous for said wallet unless you have incredible restraint.

I started off in this hobby 16 years ago thinking that I'd only have 2 because of their cost. I'm now at 83 full dolls (all male) and I've only sold a body because the character it was intended for hated it and the next one I tried with it several years later also hated it. I almost never buy just heads either. I'm also casually looking for doll #84 because I can't have unpaired dolls in-house.

I also started with MSD but I'd say the bulk of my collection is SD, which was not at all what I thought it would be. My current favourite size is mature 50-ish cm boys. Sizes in my collection range from 5cm to 72cm. I have characters that are part of the same world and that are even related (father/son or brothers) and they can and do vary greatly in size. But as long as the pairing work with each other, I don't care if they are out of scale with others in their family as the fit of the sculpt to the character is far more important to me than having a homogenous family unit. And sometimes a very noticeable size difference is on purpose because of what the characters are.

Funny enough, I have only 1 DZ at this time. Fei-Lau is an Edward (68cm), a sculpt long discontinued and, for some unknown reason, not popular at all when he was available. I think there's only 2 or 3 of us here on DoA with that sculpt and it wasn't limited. This is an older pic of Fei-Lau (white blonde at the back) with his husbands, Sleet (Soom Auber Storm Sprite in grey) and Khale (Leeke Khal Bloody Knight 7th Anniversary Edition, blue hair). Khale actually wears DZ armour claw hands as his default hands. And yes, Sleet is written as half the height of his husbands in their story, Absolute Destiny.

    10. Iron_Dog totally agree
When I joined to hobby (13 years ago) I was sure I'll never have more then 20... but now I have over 100 and it wasn't my goal or smth. I loved old DZ, then they changed style, and it wasnt "my cup of tea'', and now they again changed and it's scaring me, cos I see in them some my game characters and can't to resist to not buy them

    11. Yeah, I have a real soft spot for old, old sculpts in general. Unfortunately for me, I couldn't afford to buy them at their time of release and it's been so long now that finding them is very difficult. It's still possible for most as long as you can be very, very patient with a healthy dash of lucky.

I agree @Riku LIN , that when DZ changed their sculpt style to be more similar with DC, I was like darn, I'm out, because that style wasn't my thing. While I do have 2 DC's, they are very much not human and that is my jam. I'm glad to see DZ moving away a bit from the DC styling and more into their own thing again. I know they're sister companies so some overlap in style is probably inevitable, but it I like the greater distance happening in their styles as it gives us collectors more options.

    12. I feel you guys on the changed direction of DZ. I used to absolutely love their sculpts, but for the past several years their work hasn't felt like them, you know? I get that it's to appeal to a broader audience, but it's still a pity. I feel like Dream Valley reads more like Dollzone than current Dollzone does.
I do have a few older sculpts at home (Chen, Stramonium, Shoyo, April classic, April new, Miss Kitty, Moon dragon, Scorpio, Snow, Doamiao, Mann, Sho, etc...) which got my heart in a vice grip. It's weird to think that all the Dollzones between my wife and my collection are discontinued, whether they were limited or not.
I'm more interested in female sculpts than male ones, and Dollzone has been mostly cranking out pretty men I have no use nor need for. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think they looked great, but they just have no place in my collection.

    13. Oh, u have Shoyo, I like her:aheartbea. She so rare now, I tried to find her at secondary MP, but saw only once in bad condition. From very rare DZ I have Ivan only, all other my old DZ was popular.

      • x 1
    14. I don't know if any of mine were truly rare back in the day, maybe my April new, or my DC Snow Nymph, she was never really popular.

A collage of most of the DC/DZ's in the household. Only missing are the two DZ Snow boys who belong to my wife (the April Classic is hers too), all others are mine.

    15. yep, that Shoyo (No3), I knew they had 3 ver , and she had bunny and cat ears

      • x 2
    16. Yeah, my Shoyo is the V3, she was a birthday gift from my wife back in 2012, so she's special. She's also the only doll I still have in my collection that I got in 2012, all others have moved on.

    17. Shoyo is one of cutest sculpt for me. So sad its so rare now.

    18. Your Chen is awesome @IzabethS . You have a lovely collection of old DZ sculpts. I have a real fondness for Wing, too, but I can't recall seeing him around in recent memory.

    19. I feel like current DZ still feels like DZ to me, just more polished. It's like when I look at old OldXian art of her characters, and what they look like now. You can still recognize them as the same characters, but can also see she's gotten more polished with her work.
