Dollzone Discussion ~ 60 and 70cm ~ Part IX

Nov 11, 2023

    1. I saw that on Insta the other day and thought he was super cool. It's probably something they're doing for the year of the dragon if I was to guess.

    2. This dragon head is incredible

    3. Not that I saw! It looks like the head just offered with 68/70 body. Nothing epoxy sculpt can't cure though. It makes me curious if I can hybrid him with the loong dragon body though....

    4. @Vimes So far the only other place he's listed on is DZ's Taobao shop and some of their TB dealers. I haven't seen him pop up on AC or BJDivas yet, but they'll probably add him soonish. You could also just reach out to them to see if or when they'll put him up. His sale period is until April so there's still plenty of time.

Here are some additional pictures, Sina Visitor System.

Also, DZ's releasing a new big guy. Just a teaser for now.

    5. Wow! Thanks Cloudedmind for the links to all the additional pictures of the Dragon head and the sneak-peek of the new big boy. That was so awesome! :D

I'm loving the Green Dragon version of the head! :aheartbea

    6. That dragon head is so damn cool! :D I love all the tiny little details. This'd honestly be perfect for my little DZ Moon's dad...I wonder if it will be sold separately?

    7. I am so here for this dragon head.... well twins LOL
@Quiet and Insane - the heads are sold separately on newclover-singing :thumbup (edited to add - so probably others will as well if you prefer another dealer)
faceup is going to be so much fun for these, somehow far less intimidating than a human's features for me.

it looked like on newclover-singing one of the pics was on the black resin version of the big 75cm DZ body.
I hope he's like some of their other anthros and has a fairly open divot for the neck

my translator is kind of lame, can anyone tell if it looks like there is a collaborating artist with DZ for this head?

    8. The head IS sold separately for sure. I WOULD like to purchase it in black, but I wanna see if the 75cm body drops any lower in price. I like the black, but you always hear it has sanding marks and I've had success dyeing another doll black, so I'm gonna try and budget this.

I'm such a sucker the gold and black color scheme. He's so bushy in the face though, I wonder how far I can push him to be a little more Quetzalcoatl versus traditional eastern dragon because I love to get that geometric style on a dark body in gold.

We'll see how I feel in a few months; maybe I'll come back around to tan! Good googly moogly, I love these Dollzone bodies D:

And cloudminded, since I decided not to get the body yet, Im gonna try clover singing. Haven't done them before but I had meant to try their service so why not now? But I really appreciate the links! I constantly mess up navigating none English sites so having direct links makes my dial up brain very happy, thank you!

    9. i was really looking hard at the black as well... but I've got the 68 in black, so i'm hoping he can be slim. he cuts quite the figure though, i might change my mind  below from promo pics for your viewing pleasure.... he's got a pixel censure, let me know if i should still spoiler him for being chesty.

i think the monster hands in the pic with the gold head are from the vampire boy release maybe? or was it Mr. Leung?

    10. @Rabbit-moon I also really like the green head with the gold and bronze/copper accents. I'll be sitting this one out though. As nice as the head is I don't have any need for one at the moment.

@Vimes You're welcome! I've ordered from Christina a few times before, and didn't have any issues. Hopefully your purchase goes smoothly as well!

    11. Wow, that's some body. And I'm a total sucker for coloured resin. But I also don't have a need for a body that large. I do need a body for a floating head but that head is getting an Impl body (it's an impl head) and that isn't until well later in the year.

    12. Yes, that is a beautiful body. But, is it just me, or does the dragon head look a little small for that huge body?

      • x 2
    13. Sculpts from Chinese companies get more comically pin-headed every year since 2020ish, seems to me. Sometimes I wonder how far this trend will go… there are popular filters commonly used on real people to make their heads look very small/stretch out proportions as well.

I own 4 heads that were advertised as fitting 66-75cm bodies and I have them on 56-62cm bodies and think they look perfect. Guess I like a slightly large head over a too-small head.

I heard (in another thread here) that when this dragon head was originally promo’d on Dollzone’s Weibo, there were so many comments and complaints saying it was far too small a head for the body that the company resized it based on customer feedback. So I believe these pictures are of version 2 which means it’s larger than the OG version, lol

    14. oh my that's hilarious he is version II :XD:

sort of why i hope the B68 will work, but he might be that in between size of the B70 class with the wider shoulders.
in the promo pics, the clothing changes the visual proportions, but the camera angles can also be a big part of that perhaps.

i wish there was a ""nude" shot with DZ 75 in the lighter resin with this head to compare, since for me it might be the black resin sort of presents like an oil rubbed bronze sculpture - very visually appealing in 2D. but I knew i wanted a slimmer body for this sculpt.

i keep looking for an excuse to try out that body, but this is not the head for me to do it with either. almost feel like one the larger ID75 class heads or the R.Dean's would look more proportional.

    15. @aliquotiens Yeah, I do believe this is the version two head. If you check out the link I posted earlier slide 9 shows the difference between the new head (left) and the old head (right), Sina Visitor System.

But yeah, as "uncle" sized dolls get bigger their head to shoulder ratio also gets exaggerated with wide shoulders and pin heads. And, it happening with other doll makers outside of China who are trying to carve a space into the 75+ size range. Someone posted this link to some large body comparisons, https://twitter.com/piggygola/status/1761369315448930643?s=20. I believe the bodies are Luts 78, RS 76, Luts GSDF, Dreaming Doll 75, and P. Force 75.

@Grimalkin The issue you're going to run into with trying to put the head on the B68 body is that the neck hole for the dragon is 12.5/13cm, while the B68 body only has a 9.5cm neck, so there's going to be quite a bit of gapping.

    16. Holy pin-headedness, Batman! the head/body combo on the far left in that link @Cloudedmind is just.... To me it looks like someone tried to mod an MSD head onto a large SD body. The rest are not much better in my opinion. It's def not my aesthetic.

      • x 4
    17. The pin headedness wouldn't be so frustrating if there was an easy way to up the neck size. You get a bobble head effect when they have massive shoulders leading up to this neck with a more proportional head to the shoulders.

While I do plan on getting a Dollzone big boy because I just like Dollzone craftsmanship, I can't help but noticed the uh, similarities between the neck and a goose's neck.

    18. @Cloudedmind -thank you for the slide number! somehow i missed that one and it even has the lighter resin tone body! wow version I does seem so much smaller. Also, thank you for the group pic link of the newer big body to head examples. i'm definitely drawn to more classical proportions (for the big guys). the teaser for the new human boy seems a bit more proportional, but it's tough to tell with the outfit. dang i love those boots though :aeyepop:

definitely going to be trying the dragon on all my relevant bodies, i just hoped he might work on the one black resin body i have LOL.
and yeah, definitely the neck size is an issue, might have to make a mod or an accessory if the body looks right.

@Iron_Dog love the Batman quip  that is sort of the vibe isn't it, the comic book extra-super type :XD:

@Vimes - I am also very interested in the DZ75 body, but i really need to find the right head... i have a couple from other makers that look too big on everything i have now, maybe they can work with this body eventually, fingers crossed..

    19. @Cloudedmind I know you asked way back in January, but are you still looking for pictures of the moon white resin? I have two heads in that color, here's my Obi:

I also have a Taru in the same color, and both tan and regular white resin from DZ (though the white is probably a little yellowed). If you (or anybody else) need comparison pics, let me know!

    20. @BlackSheep Yes, thank you! Not sure if it's just lighting, but it appears to have a purply-grey undertone in your pictures. Would you say that's kind of accurate?
