1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

DollZone mini Discussion Part 15

Apr 22, 2019

    1. I dooooo! The free eyes and wig were such awesome gifts! Do they not anymore? Thats such a shame, it makes them lively right out of the box, even if they aren't the right colours/style you have in mind!

*forgot to note* I bought my Mo as the Mo-2 fullset because I actually wanted the outfit for ANOTHER doll lol, so I got the fullset wig and eyes, but he never did wear them.

    2. oh yeah I remember doll listings pretty much always said somenting like "comes with free set of 16mm eyes (random)." wow, that's a rare thing now? I haven't looked at actual new dolls in many years, just new clothes.

The Mo-2 fullset was awesome, but honestly I would've done about the same. I liked the hair and outfit, but not necessarily on the Mo sculpt. I've done that with other things, buy a full product with the intention of splitting it up. It's nice having a use for all parts though, even if not as manufacturer intended lol!

    3. I'm loving seeing all these classic sculpts! Old DZ minis are still my favorite BJD aesthetic, and occasionally I still search for them on the MP here, not necessarily to shop but just to see if any are around. I would love to have the funds and space to adopt every single one of them lol, but yee

Here is my favorite picture of my first BJD, Laika, also a Shoyo! She's yellowed a lot but I still love her! She's never had a faceup because I love the sculpt as is and the character is an android.

[Edit because I forgot I shared the pic 3 pages ago! Have my second favorite of her instead!]

I'd love to spam more pics of her and my other DollZones, but I worry about flooding the chat.

    4. @Cattya omg she looks so rad! and yeah I'm with you on wishing I could adopt way more dolls lol! I think my "new" Shoyo will be my last doll for a good long while again.

I've been giving her some TLC, but I'm waiting for some new eyelashes to come in the mail. Previous owner had her in storage a long time, and while I would've just reglued her current eyelashes that had come undone, one of them is a bit too damaged. Might as well just glue in new ones instead.

    5. I am super tempted by Yin. Can anyone make recommendations based on previous DZ fantasy doll history? Yin would be my first, but I've got a bit of a naga collection going on.

    6. @dm_sof Dollzone wait times currently seem to be 6-12 months for both domestic and overseas customers.
From talking to other doll owners and looking at comments on here and Taobao, there seems to be no clear logic that defines how Dollzone choose to prioritise production: how long ago the doll was announced and the options you do or don't pick with your order are no guaranteed indicator of how long you will wait.

I ordered a Jellyfish head in 2024, which had delicate sculpting and jointed tendrils, in clear glittering resin, with a body and option transparent hands. The production time was 4 months.
I'm currently waiting for a 75cm fullset (Rock) which I would consider less complex to make than the Jellyfish (faceup, a painted hook hand, outfit which is mostly wrap garments, no jointed hands, no body or hand blushing) that has only just been sent at the 11 month mark.
I started to see parts of this doll's fullset appear on social media in August, and I know 1 other DoA member has recently received theirs.

I suspect Dollzone have a very large backlog of orders (comments on their Taobao also suggest this), and considering the doll I ordered was announced late last December, and Dollzone have taken orders for a good 8 or more new dolls since, I am not optimistic about wait times improving.

If you do decide to order Yin, I would highly suggest going through a dealer (I use Alice's Collections) so someone can inquire about your order on your behalf. I'm not sure how much longer I would have been waiting without Alice regularly holding Dollzone to their expected wait times – it went from "mid to late November" to "1-2 weeks longer" to shipped.

Dollzone do make lovely, unique dolls (I'm a sucker for ocean horror) but it's a bit irritating as a customer to see them taking orders for multiple new fancy complex dolls while you're waiting for your order.
I won't be ordering from Dollzone again in the near future – the wait times and censorship of the male bodies outweigh the appeal of the designs for me at the moment.

    7. -They take a LONG time unless you order early and get a pre-cast doll. More erratic wait than Dream Valley or Coralreef, who also have long wait times, bc it does feel a bit worse to see people who ordered a later released doll than you get theirs first  Their fantasy dolls do take longer. Fullsets take forever. I waited for almost a year for a fullset from them.
DZ white matches DV white (regular white, not wall white) perfectly ime, but DZ like DV yellows kind of fast. I've seen comments on xiaohongshu griping about how their peony white is more like mia white after a year lol. I haven't seen the same kind of rapid yellowing on my DZ white or moon white, but for others it's a sticking point.
-I have Dollzone Xiangliu (their 1/5 naga girl), she poses fantastically and comes with heavy duty wire on the inside. She can actually rear up on her tail unlike my poor DV Ehecatl (who I still need to wire and suede...). So I'm confident that Yin will be the same way.
-They string their dolls *really* tight. On their minis it's okay, but since Yin is so long I'm a bit worried about the tail tip arriving broken... I've seen complaints that they're dolls don't post as well after restringing them to be looser bc they're engineered to have really tight stringing. I've only unstrung one of their dolls from DZ, their Devil Tarot beast version, but she also had unique stringing. That said, all my DV dolls have posted well, though sometimes limbs are def more for display than function (like Yin-Long's little legs).
-At least for the dolls I've ordered from them, their sanding of darker resins is really good. I have a black DZ Shadow (their wyvern), and I can't see any sanding marks on him. I also have a tan, same deal. Their dolls are sandblasted smooth.

I also plan on ordering Yin because I'm giving my Ehecatl a husband lol, with Xiangliu as their daughter

    8. I couldn't make a recommendation, per se, but I just received the 1/3 scale Yin Long and he's got some basic physical similarities (and part of a name) to Yin, so maybe that counts for something? :XD:He's spectacular, and holds a pose so much better than I expected, so I have no reason to think this naga lad would be too much different. Lighter/a little less substantial and a bit more delicate due to the scale? Almost certainly. But I have zero complaints about Yin Long's quality, so this Yin is absolutely on my radar.

Wait time-wise, I ordered in February and received him a few days ago, though this isn't a totally accurate way to gauge their actual turnaround time since he was quite literally shipped by sea and was in transit for over a month. So I guess it was around 8 months-ish? About what I expected.

I already have DV Ehecatl and an incoming snake body from what I think is an OT indie company, but... man, the white/blue combo for Yin is like a siren call for me specifically

Oh my goodness you are not kidding, I was almost unable to get Yin Long's head on because he was wound that tight :XD:The size/length of him did not help either and I was moments away from having to resort to questionable wrestling moves before I finally got that s-hook up JUST enough to get his head on.

    9. I ordered Light's wings and wing crown back in December 2024 with blushing, and then ordered a blank Light in February. Both orders were ready in June 2025. I ordered directly from Dollzone from their Taobao shop. Their direct orders do seem to ship a hair faster then dealer orders, but I know not everyone is able or comfortable ordering from their TB shop.

6 months isn't particularly long, but long wait times don't personally bother me. I'm mostly a set and forget type of person anyway. And the blushing on my Light's wings is gorgeous

    10. I'm also contemplating Yin very strongly... He's so gorgeous, but I can't decide if I want to do the plunge for a fullset of him, especially with how long fullset orders seem to be taking now. The outfit and wig are really gorgeous, but I'm not as big on the faceup for whatever reason...? I don't have any other DZ dolls either, but I'm tempted by the moon white coloring, is that resin known to yellow quickly as well?

    11. Thanks for the feedback, guys! I don't mind the tight stringing or the long/inconsistent wait - I like Cloudminded am a set and forget buyer. I've been surprised by the arrival of dolls I forgot I'd ordered 6+ months earlier more times than I'd like to admit. :whee:

Aka, I'm probably gonna go for it next pay period. Now I have to decide what color to get. I try to get all my snaky kiddos in different colors, so I'm left with blue, light green, and black... Unless I want to go moon white, I suppose, and have the tail and body be the same color for once.

    12. My 2024 Dollzone White has no noticeable yellowing – it's a yellow-toned pale white that's about an 80-85% match to Volks White.
However, my doll has only been outdoors for 1 photoshoot, and stored in dark places. I live in a low humidity area (southeastern Australia) where temperatures vary on average between 15-35°C (I've also never lived in an air conditioned/temperature regulated house since collecting dolls).

None of my bought-new dolls from various dollmakers show any signs of rapid yellowing, but some bought secondhand do (I have 2019 Volks White that nearly looks the same as 2011 White), and a local friend's DV White resin has yellowed quickly.
While a degree of yellowing is unavoidable, I suspect environment and temperature are contributing factors.

This picture is from September, showing the current state of my DZ White with other pale resins:

    13. @castironteapot Thank you for the comparison!! Good to know you haven't seen any rapid yellowing on your DZ -- I'm guessing environment can have a large impact on resin aging as well.

      • x 2
    14. environment is def a factor in how quickly resin yellows. I feel like dollzone's white resin does yellow a bit faster than my other dolls, but not like crazy quickly!
my dz kerze from 2022, who has been taken on many adventures, is definitely not white anymore (thankfully the mellowing is even!)
another dz doll I had that was made prob around the same time, if not earlier, didn't go outside so wasn't as yellowed, and looked close to a volks normal. However compared to the body I got for it around 2024, there was noticeable difference!
