1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollzone Originality - Discuss it here.

    1. I agree that having a lawyer doesn't mean anything. If a lawsuit happens, unless one side will admit defeat or would just disappear, they would have to have a lawyer.

    2. Nobody's banning DZ dolls from DoA yet o__o; Right?

I think you have every right to defend the company that made your doll. I do it with Volks when discussions about elitism come up ^^; But the fact is, the bodies do look incredibly similar, which is suspicious. I, personally, am not trying to 'crucify' DZ. I don't think many people on this thread are, either. In fact, I see more of the reverse - people dismissing the accusations immediately and getting pretty snippy about it.

    3. Thank you for that.

If it is proven that the dolls are copies it won't change my love for my boys but it will upset me and keep me from further supporting the company.

    4. it was posted on the first page of this thread by someone who said it was from a dollzone doll. if I'm wrong, I'm sorry.
that's exactly what I meant, thanks chocomeijin!
      I'm sorry if I was confusing ^^;;

    5. No not yet but there are those that believe they should have been banned some time ago.

I didn't say that many were. In fact, at least for me, it is a very much a case of one or two bad apples ruining the case. I for one am not dismissing them, and hopefully I am not coming off as snippy. I am really just more hurt than anything. I liked it here but now I'm not so sure. I agree the bodies do look similar but as someone with a degree in poetry, I know I have written poems that were very similar to another poet's work without even knowing that work existed. I am not at all trying to say that this is the case here, but it is not outside the realm of possibilty. Nor is them copying again outside that realm but if they are copying again then why not just put out the copied bodies and be done with it? The bodies all this is about have not even been released and may never actually be released to the public. So why all the harsh words. And no Celebare, I'm not saying your words are in any way harsh. In fact your words are some of the best I have read here. :)

    6. Does everyone at least understand where the other side is coming from?

Those that are "villifying" DZ can understand why owners love their dolls.
But can those that own DZ understand why so many are in arms?

This whole hobby is about creativity, originality, expressing what is unique through a resin form. It is a slap in the face to all the creators, those that paint, sew, or mold their own, or just photograph, to do something like that which has been alleged.

MyMel0dy, I understand you. But DZ was given a second chance, at least in action, here on DoA. Should we give them a third? A fourth? Should we keep forgiving, if they are in fact committing this crime?

    7. Yes I know it was, and I am not saying that they should be given any more chances if they are in fact committing the crime they are accused of. The problem right now is that it is all just accusations and conjecture. If they are guilty then no, they deserve no more chances, but right now, they have not been proven guilty. I just want to know if they are banned here does that mean I will no longer welcome, because to me that seems rather unfair. Yes I am aware life is not fair. But in this case I am just a collector who happened to buy from an unscrupulous company at a rare moment the company was not so unscrupulous. Does that mean I should be punished with the company?

    8. You know, I was thinking just now
Some of the pictures of dollzone doll's face sculpt being similar to another existing one is a little... weak as an evidence. Afterall, some of them I can hardly see the resemblence. (example the one with F28 and the one that was said to look like mnf el) Some dolls by existing, reputable companies like Volks do have dolls that looked like other existing dolls. For instance, I totally can see the remsemblence between Tony and SoulDoll Paris. No one flamed Volks. Because they have the reputaton, and in this case, where dollzone have some dolls that is hardly similar they get gunned down like hell. Reason being they have already have been "caught" doing blatan copy before.

Some of you had mentioned a comparison of a child getting caught plagarising and not being given another chance. This is being really lenient for an example. The company is definately not run by children. As adults, when they copied the mold at the start they should well know what they are really doing unlike a child who might just be ignorant.

It is not that people do not want to give them a chance, its just that they would need to work afew times harder to gain that trust. Face it, its similar to a case where an employer do not want to hire an ex-convict. Once branded, it is not easy to redeme themselves.

I do believe that a number of the head sculpts that were mentioned were original, I only began to think twice of dollzone's originality when it comes to the new boy's body sculpt. Its seriously way too similar to yukinojo's.

And I also can be sure that some of the lengthening is not that hard to do. I might not have shown much of a modding skills in this forum as yet, but I had lengthen stuff like legs for garage kits before. Its really not hard. To be honest, garage kit's might be even harder to lengthen cos one will need to SAW the leg apart and add on in the middle. Just building up at the ends is not a problem at all.

I really hope that dollzone really did original works. I do believe that china company CAN do awesome job. I had seen how good many chinese are and I would really hate the idea that thanks to this people are left with the impression that china companies equals rip off. Can't really help it since china was famous for having fake goods too. There was even a street in ShangHai nicknamed 假货一条街 (which is translated to be a street of fake goods) though I heard that it had been raided recently and is history now. They just need to work hard to bring their original stuff forward to show the rest of the world they are not just capable of copying.

    9. Hm. Perhaps if they'd been banned in the beginning... But no.

I would think that, if, like ForeverDoll, they are banned, it would be... not for all their dolls, but for the copies. Although I think the ban on FD dolls is universal, and, unfortunately, not knowing is not an excuse.
But I admit, I dislike the company greatly, but I don't think those that are new to the hobby, and did not know, like yourself, should be ostracized. Those that knew, and bought because they did not care, are the ones I dislike, but that is neither here, nor there.

In the end, I doubt it will be up to us. The mods will decide, and so far they have been fair and not cruel in their judgements.

    10. When Tony's promotional images were released people DID rag on Volks for "copying" Paris. When owners actually brought Tony home everyone stopped with the accuasations because they realised they look completely different. (No I don't think this will be the case with Dollzone and the 70cm body. In Tony's case it was the lighting that didn't show the real dimensions of his face and angles that didn't show how much wider set his eyes are.)

    11. I totally agree with banning the copies. I would expect that. I really do not know how I feel about the company. I just know I love my boys and think they are beautiful dolls, which is why I bought them.

    12. But would you buy from them again, now?

    13. People have been caught scamming here on DOA, claiming items as being theirs when they obviously weren't. Some of those people weren't banned, even when called out. In fact, they were given a second chance.

And people still buy from them.

      So, meh. *shrugs.*

    14. But there are second chances. Bad business deals between two people are often reduced to heresay. But photographic proof... is another thing altogether.
Second chances aside, would anyone who has bought from DZ give them a third chance, if this is proven to be piracy?

    15. I'm not sure. I know I wouldn't buy the dolls in question, but I never planned on buying any of those. I just can not imagine Malach and Nikko as anything other than a Xi and a Mo. As much as I love Mini Feé Shiwoo's and Angelregion Ren's I just could not picture them working as the moulds housing the muses that reside in the dolls I currently own. Will I buy a future doll from them? No most likely not. If they are found guilty, then definitely not. But do I regret buying my boys? No, not at all.

    16. I think that will be the hardest part then. If they are banned, the copied ones, I mean, it will be bad for any owner of DZ.
There was someone here who owned a FD, but could not tell anyone, because of the reaction. The person did not know that they were copies, when she bought, and because of it, was afraid to share her hobby here, where we are supposed to be kind and welcoming.
As much as I hate the company's practice, I would not want anyone to think... they are not welcome, if they did not know. If they did know, and did so willingly, not caring about copies or theft, then... they are not good people. :|

    17. Question: are we sure that Volks and Dollzone will go to court over this issue? I only remember hearing that they have both obtained lawyers...

If there is a lawsuit, I'm sure whichever side wins, not everyone will agree with the outcome. But here at DoA, would whatever outcome the court reaches also be the official word here as well?

    18. I would think so. The effect of the lawsuit? between Volks and Forever Doll resulted in them being banned here, yes?

    19. Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant that if Volks wins, will everyone accept that Dollzone's was a copy and should be treated as such (whatever the mods decide)? However, if Dollzone wins, would people accept their dolls as acceptable? Or just take it as a loophole in the laws and think we need to decide here whether DoA should allow them or not?

    20. My father is a corporate litigator (hoho, big words :O), so I know a little about corporate lawsuits.

They might not go to 'court'-court (as in, a full trial with all the trimmings), but if Volks actually sues DZ, there will at least be a settlement payment. It depends on whether DZ backs down and agrees to pay the settlement or decides to argue that their dolls are, in fact, originals. If DZ is copying, I doubt they'll want to go to trial. It'll cost more for them in the end (especially if the copy is as obvious to the judge as it is to us).

This is based on US law, of course, and I could be totally wrong about overseas policies XD

Either way, if a judge decides that the dolls are copies, I'd find it hard to disagree.
