1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I gotcha! I can see your point - I think that the widespread copying in other industries is starting to be addressed more now, but it has certainly been around for a while, and it's possible that a new company could misinterpret it. If this is the case with DZ then I hope they'll see the error of their ways. It's frustrating for us to be so far removed from the companies and unable to really know what they did, how they were thinking, etc. (Though I will say that if DZ were under this misapprehension about copying, then they must be incredibly naive!)

(Sorry for my misunderstanding, I replied before I'd had my morning coffee. :sweat)

I think that if people are moved to write some sort of formal letter to DZ, then it would be a good way of responding to the situation. Companies thrive on their customer feedback, and although I am sure that they would deny this latest suspected case, it would give them something to think about.

    2. Is that the normal (or one of the normal) DollZone dealers? Or is it just a person who snatched the pictures and is putting them up in the auctions? I'm not all that familiar with the various sellers on eBay, because I usually shop on YJA.

    3. On the subject of writing letters, I ask people not to send flames to them. Those kinds of letter won't be taken seriously. Try to be diplomatic in your approch and understand that English is not their first language. It would also reflect badly upon yourself if you outright accuse them, these people aren't stupid and have thretened to take legal action against slanderer's.
I hope I haven't offended anyone, I just think we should keep in mind that we are dealing with human beings at the end of the day. It's easy to forget that there are people on the other end of the internet connection :daisy

Kiyakotari- Yes yuanzhisky7912 is one of the normal sellers along with Change8023

    4. What about group letter? Like wasn't there a group letter send to CP about Elf someone? Something about, "We do not know what is going on with copy, but we want you to know we do not support copy. We are not accusing, but there are incriminations, and we want to trust you," or something such.

    5. If there's going to be any letter writing, I really think people should wait until the outcome of the legal investigation. There are a lot of assumptions being made, and I would hate to see people writing them letters if they didn't copy. I would also rather see individuals write letters as they feel moved to and not as a group either. This is a personal moral issue, and I don't think it should be decided by DoA as a whole.

As it stands--the quality of their minis is good, people are very happy with them, and their big boy body is not an exact replica of Yukinojo. This isn't the same as Forever Doll where the dolls were horribly made and buyers disappointed. People really like their DZ dolls, and I don't want to see DZ owners further alienated or this board become completely polorized on this issue.

I think writing to companies is a good way to let them know what their customers think, but doing it as a campaign somehow doesn't entirely sit right. At least not at this point. Even if it's not meant this way, it feels like some DoA members are speaking for DoA as a whole, and I don't think that's the right thing to do. We all have the right to our own opinions and have the right to choose what dolls we want to buy with out other people speaking for us/trying to push us into a descision. I'm not sure how coherent that came out.

    6. This makes sense. I didn't think of it. :sweat If anything comes from DoA, people will think it comes from all of DoA. Maybe holding off.... is best.

Also, with the threat of slander lawsuit, we don't want our opinions to get people who own the board (Aimee) to be in trouble. It is not her issue.

    7. that bottom half of your Syo looks almost exactly like my Dream of Doll Too. Legs, feet, joint, everything. the other one is similiar but not as much.

i haven't read the very long entirity of this post but i'm not with the people who say forgive and forget. If copyright infringement bothers you, then don't buy from them, because it's clear that in the past they did that sort of thing. whether or not they do it now isn't clear but i'm not an advocater of forgetting that have. they should've realized that if it leaked that they copied that it'd hurt their reputation, permenently.

If you don't care about copyright laws, they just buy one if you feel like it. I'd consider thinking about buying from DZ anyway. The sort of people who steal a design to make money are the same people who'd skimpt out on quality control or just plain outright quality to save a few bucks.

People like to think there is a clear defined line on what is stealing. the difference between stealing and inspiration or influence is often grey. A lot of the dolls I see look plenty a like. companies influence each other, and much of the time originallity loses to the finicial gain a popular style gives.

of course things like using another companies joints is blatant theft.

    8. Am I misreading, or are you insinuating that Volks copied DoD with the oldskin SD13 boy design?

    9. I just think that is stretching it too far. ^^;;
I dont think you could shrink a SD13 perfectly, and even if you could its too much work. And it's not incredibly similar like Lynn and Woori. Maybe the 1/3 bodies are inspired, or franken-dollies, but shrinking a SD13? That's too far out for me.:daisy Too much work. I'm in the middle of casting a head, and that's hard work enough~<3
      Edited for clarity:

It's going a little too far comparing more of Volks stuff to DZ stuff, I think that what the person was trying to say-ish( purely my opinion).
      There are going to be similarities sometimes:but I don't see DZ copying new head moulds, or turning 60cm bodies into 45cm. Like you have pointed out ^^;

    10. I never said I knew how they made the DZ bodies, I said it looks like they copied Volks' design for the bodies.

    11. I wasn't saying that you said that. (o///o) I was addressing the fact that you said you were copying it. I said I don't think they shrunk a SD13 into a Mini, because it's too much work. It doesn't look inch-for-inch like a SD13, and it's a 43cm. So if it's not shrunk, it doesn't matter if it looks like SD13, because it's an original sculpt. :)

    12. also note dz boys have bigger *ahem*packages then volks :)

    13. They can copy a head (Woori), I think it's within their ability to make a penis bigger to slightly throw people off.

    14. it's more than their penis it is their whole area =D (i don't know how to polietly say it all) the body doesn't look all chubby like a toddlers does either and they have more defined bodies which makes sense seeing as msds are made to look like a younger person but dz is made to look like an adult

    15. I was under the impression that she was pointing out that different, reputable companies can and have had eerily similar designs in the past... but have not been accused of copyright infringement. I did not interpret her post as holding any sort of accusation towards Volks.

She can correct me if she's wrong, of course, but I think your reading is a little sensitive.

Also, glad to see opinions on the subject -- I think I've already given mine -- but I honestly don't see what use arguing amongst ourselves is going to do. Either DZ did copy, or they didn't, and it's really up to Volks and DZ to settle it now, isn't it? o_O

    16. Just want to add that DZ does credit the maker of each doll and the makeup artists on their site. And they do currently have ads up hiring more sculptors.

This info can be read both ways, I just want people to know the facts. A bit of pointless speculation, but if you want to read it positively, they do have real artists working on their products and they are trying to bring more people into it because they are expanding. Or negatively, why would they hire more sculptors now when their newest products are already finished? And when they credited their artists, why aren't there more of them? Shouldn't it take more people to come up with all that they have done?

As far as DZ trying to sue people for slander, I don't think they mean people like DoA memebers. We are really pretty nice and reasonable overall here over this issue. However, on some other forums things aren't as nice. It is my understanding that some people posted that people with DZ dolls should keep away from doll meets and if they ever see someone with a DZ doll in public they would grab it and throw it on the floor. Now, that's overreacting and I don't think anyone should jest about things like that even just in a post...

    17. Well it's their loss. If they decide to alienate people because of what doll they own then they will become lonely. A girl I knew did this. She wouldn't talk to anyone who didn't wear a denim jacket. She was nasty to people who didn't have them. People started to believe that all people with denim jackets were as nasty as she was. Her friends threw out their jackets and she was alone.
Sorry if this sounds like a bedtime story but I can see this happening already. I've heard some people are threatening to sell their Yukinojo's. Personally I'd hate for it to come to that because of a few imature individuals.

    18. Wow that's incredable, and horrible. I mean even if DZ did copy, if you bought a doll and didn't know... I mean and then you couldn't sell it, are you just supposed to just forget it exists? That's a horrible thing to say/do.

    19. Continuing to argue in this speculative fashion is going to become a bit thin.

However, the "knock-off" industry is something to be aware of and the fact that legitimate companies can and do have their products copied and/or recast can become information that is important to many collectors.

    20. I AM NOT TRYING TO GET ASHBEAT IN TROUBLE, she was just the first person who came to mind. But didn't she base her mau head off a volks or obitsu head or something? No one has said anything to her. I mean she changed a few things. Isn't that the same as DZ changeing a few things to a mould? I mean I'm not saying they did but that's what they've been accused of.
