1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

1. As I posted anonymously there (No LJ account)

It looks like they're all made from the same company. When I put my Soulkid next to my MSD, it's obvious they're from different companies. I feel they're really too similar, even if DZ is inspired by Volks, they could have designed them their own way. You don't see Customhouse and Souldoll looking similar? Or Soom and Iplehouse? In this pic, even the spaces/length of the thigh joint holes are the same. All other companies have different sized holes.

2. i been reading this thread as it goes and while i see good points. i also see some people go well the sanded it down or that well the doll is not the same doll that you are comparing to in photos.
Some of you even fail to mention the dolls differances. I understand 1 dollzone was a dead down look alike that i can see. but the rest of it is specucaltions so many dolls on the market are so similar in traits no wonder why a nose or a eye shape may look the same.
but i even seen people who make there own heads and sell them in limited quanties do exact copies and never get told one thing about it as well.
and as for that seller using the images of that other doll well they do sell other things than just dollzone and as using the term dollfie havent you ever looked at over 75 percent of ebay auctions using the term dollfie in there auctions since it has been turned into a universal lingo for japanese bdj?
hmmm i hope no one think i sounded rude i just thought i point it out

3. Really? Copies of other people's work? Cause I've never seen anything like that on DoA. o_O And if it were the case then you should report the thread as it is illegal and not allowed on DoA. Unless you mean on ebay? But then I don't go on ebay very often so I wouldn't know about such a sale. The reason the person may not get told anything could simply be because most people do not know. It's still unacceptable no matter who the person or company is.

4. I haven't seen it on ebay with BJDs, but I've seen resin casts of slightly modified Dollfie Plus heads on Y!J.

5. zalem-
I remember a cat head that had things just added to it, and it was an obitsu head. No offense to the person, I loved the head!! But doesnt it go into the same story of the Dollzone adding things to already existing molds??
I remeber that kitty head being praised and excepted right away.
For me, it seems some are dead set at bringing DZ down. Some excuses seem to be going a little too story book for me. I dont think a bootlegger would go through that much work, spend so much money and time to sell something unless they planned to make a crazy profit. Dollzone dolls are the cheapest yet. My fiance has a DZ boy and he is the most unique doll I have seen, and I have seen alot!! lol.
With the DZ big boy and volks sd16, I see what simular, but the differences over ride them. The only thing that is very simular are the hands and feet, but I can see difference in each sculpt as well. But before, no one accused Volks of taking dollshe boys sculpt ideas, so I dont see how this is 100% valid.
I can recall of other companies that have *very* simular and even almost identicle things/parts, most of which are huge well excepted companies now.
This one is a real toughie though. >_<
I am in no way ignorant, but I guess I need more hardcore proof rather than a bunch of theories.
Now this is just my personal feeling on the matter, and I respect what everyone has to say about it as well. :)

6. :? Well I took a look at all the pics posted and DollZone seems to have got the idea from Volks, but they made the doll 70cm instead. The body seems slimmer all around compared to the SD16 body which is more muscle all together, hmmm......I would be a little concerned too about originality too. If Volks decides to go after this company, so be it, if not then let's wait and see owner pics first to decide once and for all. That's my 2cents.

Maybe it's just me:3
But I've thinkin that they look... uhh, you know..:<
They really look alike:3

Some people are sayin that dzdoll owners bought their dzdolls because of their price, but I don't think it's true:)
If you add up the total, you'll see thet dzdolls are not so cheap.

This kinda thread is depressing me ::sigh:: <<I'm not depressed by DoA members, but DZDOLL:<

8. ^I believe that DollZone Nina was a recast of a CP Woori head... Maybe I am wrong? I forget. >.>

9. I think you're right:>

but don't you think they look alike'3'?

hmmmmmm.. maybe it's just me:<

10. It was'nt Nina, it was Lynn and she was retired after the discovery.
I have also seen a Midori up close and her eyes are a lot rounder and her nose is small and more upturned than a Nina. They look totally different in person.

11. I think what is really weird is how no one who is sure DZ is a copy, has paid attention to the joints. Yes, they look similar and work in quite the same way, but the fitting is a lot better. There is a huge gap between the SD-16's chest and torso plate, and SD-16 legs fit better with his bum.
These alone are things that should point out that it's inspired by the SD-16 body (or Hound's, because they too, are similar, but not same), not copied.
My friend who is a sculpter saw the pictures without knowing what it was all about, and I asked him to tell the differences. There was huge amount of them, especially in the jointing and how the pieces fit together.
He couldn't believe his ears when I told him that the other company was considering a law suit.
They made a copy in the past, let the dead dog lie.
It is not proven in any way that these new ones are copies, and I'm seriously insulted by these hostile Volks fans that are making horrible hate posts and threat mails to DZ owners.
Live and let die, people. They are only dolls. There are more serious copyright matters in the world, and this one is getting out of proportion.
I don't mean to insult anyone, I'm just stating what I see and hear.

12. I'm with Illves on the matter. I see similarities but not enough to consider a lawsuit. However I think what would be MOST telling is if someone buys the new DZ guy and switches his head with Yukinojo's. Anyone willing to try this out?

13. if you'd read the other sides point of view, you might appreciate that DZ has MODIFIED the SD16 body to look new. So the many differences are irrelevent. It doesn't prove anything except DZ is smart.

14. A reminder that discussing Ashbet and the Mau head in this thread is off-topic and not applicable to the subject of mold re-casts. Ashbet and her team brought a fun idea from concept to completion with complete disclosure of how it was done every step of the way. There was never an intent to deceive or present the finished and very limited heads as completely original, nor create an entire company in order to sell the molds as a business. Mau is NOT a re-cast. She is an original sculpt that used an Obitsu head as a base in order to simplify and speed the process of sizing. And Mau is a perfect example of being "inspired" by other heads.

Re-casting product is something that is DONE on a huge scale in some parts of the world. A term for the resultant product is "knock-off" amongst others. The various resultant knock-offs are not inspired by nor similar to the original. They are copies.

15. That was Ashbet´s Mau head, and when she was presenting it in the customizer´s section there actually *was* a discussion on whether it was alright to use an existing head as a basis.

But Ashbet changed so much that the Mau head is very clearly a work of her own, even if she started out with an Obitsu head as a basis. (I think she even modified the neck joint/opening).
The situation is virtually the same as if she had started out using a styrofoam ball - there is so little resemblance to what she started out with, it is obviously not a copy but an original work.

Besides, Ashbet made only a very limited run. She is not a professional company mass-producing Mau. So matters are a bit different there.

Zagzagael: You were faster than me in posting this. Please delete if considered OT/unnecessary.

16. I think it is funny how people are posting now, saying things that were said in the thread before. Please read the whole thread before posting.
As to the size difference between this DZ and SD16, it was said in the very beginning that it is very easy to change a mold by using a wax cast.

I am sad and disappointed. I would have thought that it was obvious, and I have seen no attacks here, in this thread, except by these people who are violently insistent that DZ is not copy.

To be honest, I can't believe that it is not obvious, and I can't believe people do not see. It makes me saddest of all.

17. Will any one make a comparison for/with DZ Fei?
I'd like to know if he too is a copy...If any of these dolls is O_o
Thanks!

18. If it were that obvious, it wouldn't be such a big debate : ) Plus we are going off pictures which do not tell the whole story. Sure it's *possible* that they could have modded a body, but if you use that logic, then the same could be said about a lot of dolls if all you go by is their pictures. But this has probably been said before *shrug*. No matter how you personally feel about the matter, try and look at it from the other point of view as well.

19. Remember--you *assume* that they modded the body. You have the right to your opinion but you shouldn't state something as fact unless you actually have proof. These pictures are not concrete evidence. I'm sure a lot of people do look at your side of the argument--I know I was suspicious of DZ when they first came out with the newer minis due to their past history, but I've read all of the arguments on these, and the evidence is not as clear and solid as a lot of people have been stating.
