1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollzone Originality - Discuss it here.

    1. yeah I was brash just then, and stated my opinion as fact, which is not what I should do.... I was just really angry cos she hadn't appeared to have read the thread and was trying to take complete proof out of the differences, which many people have suggested are alterations on the SD16. I was annoyed at my opinion being ignored but I totally undermined myself by speaking like that.

    2. I am with Taco and Illves on this.
I didnt mean to go OT with Ashbets head, to me it seemed like the same situation, but again it was just my opinion.
GanyBlack- What you are saying is the start of a flame/attack. And just because you can change molds certain ways does not mean they did so, but it is a possibility. We are here to discuss things, not to come to an exact conclusion, because we dont have the authority to do so. You have to respect what other people have to say about the matter. If you dont agree, state your counterpoint. It doesnt have to turn into a sad mess.
About Midori and Nina, I dont see it as all.. Plus Nina was out months before Midori.
Well, lets see what happens with Volks... Actually, how did you guys find out Volks might do a lawsuite? I looked through this thread but couldnt find anything about it... @_@

    3. http://www.volks.co.jp/en/news/index_news36.aspx Volks posted it here.

    4. It's on Volks' site, they don't name anyone but seeing as how someone here posted an email with 'Dollzone' in the title and Volks replied thanking them for the information, one can draw conclusions. Also, Midori was first released in October 2004, Midori in Preschool is simply a rerelease. I'm not saying she is a copy, but they had plenty of time to get a hold of her head if it is.

    5. Like I said before on the Midori Nina issue, I have seen both in person and I can not see any resemblance bettween the two...

I agree with this 100%. As for this
I've seen DZ owners being bullied on many threads and desparately trying to justifiy themselfs in vain in this thread, but I have'nt seen anyone acting "violently". I hope that I would never see anything of this nature either.

    6. I'm offended that people assume it's just 'angry Volks fans' that are making a fuss. 9_9 Now, I own a CP boy and two Volks minis, and have seen a LOT of other dolls in person. I prefer Volks minis and tinies, but I love a lot of other dolls. Please don't assume that just because we like Volks, that we're all automatically elitists. It's not nice. (though I know there are some volks elitists out there, and they scare me. o_o'; )

As for the similarities and differences of Yukinojo and DZ... As I stated before, my friend can modify a Yujinojo body to look EXACTLY like the DZ one, only with slight differences due to modding styles. The similarities are overwhelming. Even the issue of joint fit is incredibly easy to modify. That, and my modding friend isn't a big fan of Volks.

I personally do not like DZ dolls. But that is a personal, esthetic issue. I respect DZ owners. But so far, the most hostility I've seen is from some of those who are _so_ supportive of DZ that they insult others for saying that DZ has copied. =/ I would never think of being violent toward a DZ owner or a DZ doll, but it feels that some DZ owners are attracting an elitist air about them.

Again, all personal opinion. x_X Please don't flame me.

    7. *pops up again to check how things are going here* Hn...the DZ reply has me thinking perhaps all these speculations are just that...would they really respond with such indignation if they're copying? After all, they just meeped and retired that copied Woori head thing. o_O
Or maybe they are copying and are pulling vaugely jack Sparrow logic.

Dunno...I'm just amused how suddenly every company is copying every other company, what with all the comparison shots I've seen in the past month XD

      *wanders back off*

    8. I've noticed DZ elitists flaming DZ owners for not fitting in with the regime.

Maybe each and every one of us needs to learn, let the dolls speak for themselves... it's something a lot of us forgot. (including me at some points along the way)

    9. There has been a lot of meaness towards the DZ owners, a number of posts were deleted from the DollZone Alliance thread where people were being mean. Also I have heard from DZ owners, that they have recieved nasty PMs from other members, they just haven't complained to the mods to keep from stirring up more trouble. Some have even had people at meets say really nasty things to them and go around to other people at the meets saying nasty things about the DZ owners. It's not just Volks owers either, it's all kinds of doll owners. It has been going on for some time, even before the DZ 70 cm boy discussion. A lot of people made up their mind about DZ a long time ago, for better or for worse.

None of this has made a very good situation for this fandom. Some people feel like they have to take side. I just see the necessity in taking sides in any of this. Sure it's a big deal but it really won't have a real affect on any of us. Copying isn't okay but none of the owners are really responsible for what a doll company did or did not do. I wouldn't buy a doll that had questionable orgins such as the DZ 70cm boy, once the legal stuff is sorted out if it's in favor off DZ that could change, but I'm in no place to judge anybody else's decision to do so.

    10. I've been looking at the pictures over and over again, and I'm still not completely convinced that the 70cm DZ boy body is a modified recast of a Yukinojo. I think it's fairly obvious that the DZ sculptors were (at the very least) using the joint structure and general shape of the SD16 as a template when they were creating it, but unless I see one (of the DZ dolls) in person, I wouldn't feel comfortable saying it was or wasn't a copy.

That aside...these reports of hostility towards DZ owners disgust me. I also find them both saddening and disturbing. In fact, what I've seen (both in this thread and in other places) is enough to make me want to buy a DZ doll of my own, in support of the other people on this forum who already own them.

    11. Hah, glad I'm not the only one.

    12. I'm sorry if anything I've said has offended you or any others :) It's just that the majority of people playing the blame game are volks elitists. Noone should feel like they are being punished for standing up for their beliefs as should noone punish others for doing so. I don't think it's fair when people say that volks elitists are bad people, my flatmate is the ulimate volks elitist ( she goes to the invite only Volks cruises and events in Japan)and I don't hate her. I respect her passion for Volks and she respects my love for DZ. We don't have to like each others dolls. It would be nice if we could enjoy the same kind of agreement in here but I guess it's not ment to be....

    13. If people are being harassed, either in threads or by PMs, they really need to talk to the moderators about it. We've removed offensive comments from various threads in the past, but we can only help out when we know there's a problem. Flaming and that sort of behavior is not acceptable, even in private.

If you are not comfortable PMing a moderator, you can also choose to "ignore" a user. This is done by going to that user's profile page, then clicking where it says "Add [username] to Your Ignore List." This will make it so that you do not see that user's posts, and that are not able to PM you.

People also need stop accusing others of being "angry Volks owners/Volks elitists" or "DZ elitists." Believing that DZ's sculpt isn't original doesn't mean that someone's trying to "bring down" Dollzone. Just like saying that you believe the sculpts are original doesn't mean you're "in denial." People either see similarities or they don't. Not to mention, there's no need to be commenting on other owners that way. The thread is about the dolls, not the owners. We don't need to post criticism or support for the owners - this thread is not about them. The way it's being turned into a social/economic conflict is... well, extremely off-topic, to put it nicely.

    14. I am guilty. I have used the term, BUT I see DZ elitists and DZ owners and believers as NOT being all the same thing. a DZ owner is actually very unlikely to be an actual DZ elitist. cos it really is true you can't judge people like that. when I refer to DZ elitists I mean those who bring down DZ owners AS WELL as who they consider Volks elitist.

I hope it's clear that I personally am not someone who 'has it in' for all DZ owners. I like many of them. I may hate the Dollzone company with a passion but I care about the people behind the dolls, cos in the end, we are all doll lovers. and all individuals too ^-^

      sorry for getting soppy...

    15. I want a Yi to just support the DZ owners...I think they're original minis anyway.

    16. I have something but I'll make it short because I haven't read a bunch of these pages and I don't know if it has already been mentioned.

But if Dollzone is copying, it makes me really sad because if there is action taken, then the mods here will outlaw us posting any pictures of them together. I have a Volks doll and I'm soon to get a Megi, I've got a doll from just about every company and I love all of them exactly the same. I really hope Dollzone isn't copying because they wouldn't just be hurting themselves, then they'd be hurting us too. I want to post pictures of my boy when he gets here.

Are the people who buy them innocent? I know they've had people in the past that they have copied from...but if I innocently buy a doll and I want to post pictures of them, but because its copied its outlawed, then is it my fault for not knowing? Sorry, please don't flame me, but I've been wondering this for a while.

(Okay so it has been talked about, I'm dumb as a post >_< sorry, my post is just taking up space! >_>'')

    17. I don't know if anyone will join but, if you are unhappy with the feuding between owners please feel free to use this icon I made. One Love is for our one love, BJD, which we all have in common. This is in support of the BJD community as a whole.

I hope this doesn't offend, I just noticed there was this gap growing, and I've had enough of that. We all love our dollies ^-^

    18. I'm all for supporting the owners, but I'm not going to buy a product that could very well be a copy (or 'knock-off' to use the less polite term) in order to do so.

Yes, it does bother me a little because I own a Volks that DZ is supposedly copying Volks, perhaps because I spent so much money on my doll and am angry that someone could get away with copying his body sculpt and then sell it for a third of what I paid for Roo.

(Incidentally, even the DZ mini bodies look suspicious to me, but this is just speculation. I'm most alarmed by the waist joint and how it fits together very much the way Volks waist joints do)

I think it's important to remember that DollZone was caught copying once already. If they're truely ripping off Yukinojo's sculpt... that's just plain foolish. DZ owners should not be punished, of course. There's nothing they did that's wrong, and I think DZ ownership is no more of an issue than owning any other sort of doll. But if DZ loses this lawsuit, I do hope it shuts down completely. If nothing comes of this, then I'll be happy to accept DZ as original, as I had before taking a closer look at this new issue ^^

    19. don't worry, the mods are adamant banning pics of DZ dolls hasn't even been considered. They wouldn't punish doll owners like that
