    1. Thank you for mentioning that, I didn't think it would have been obivous if you hadn't pointed it out.
      ....It's not right that they did that. They should have used there own dolls. >_<;;

    2. I know, I said I don't know if they copied directly and deleted parts like they added with Yukinojo or just completely replicated the body in a smaller form. It's undeniable that they look almost the exact same. The fact that the head is too large for the body is also very suspicious.

    3. Soda cans are a bad analogy as they are not copyrighted works of art, soda cans have to be similar in size and shape to allow for machines to vend them and are standardized carrier for beverages.

      Copyright law I believe states it has to be at least 50% different from the original, to show that that majority has been changed to be sufficiently different from the original product. I am not talking about influence, I am talking about DIRECTLY COPYING another doll and adding enough changes to try and cover their tracks. Change the height a bit because most people who do not understand the process will think if it is not the exact same size it's not a copy, etc etc. That is not influence, influence is an artist seeing double joints used on a doll and going "Those are intriguing and add poseability, how can I do them too?" and proceeding to make their own, not just taking the limbs of the other doll and claiming them as their own.

      I find using another doll artist's work in such a way to make easy money to be incredibly unethical. If they want to sell dolls, they should use their own from scratch original sculpts instead of taking the easy way out.

      I want to see photos of the new DZ hands against the Volks hands that people are saying are copied. If that is true, that in and of itself is copyright infringment, they're stealing parts.

      I will never support a company that has copied, they've done it once and gotten away with it, they will no doubt see how far they can push it again. Even with their so called original heads, whose authenticity I doubt, you're still supporting a company that copies even if you do not buy the copied product.

    4. maybe its just me...but i see a resemblance between these two dolls

      [IMG]

      and also there was a comparison of one of thier minis and an angel region a while back that looked similar..i looked forever and i cant find it..but i do remember seeing it.

      and also...if dollzone is a COMPANY and not just independent artists then why are they selling dolls that dont belong to them? Right now that have a camine on their page advertised as a fullset thats all decked out in THEIR things. Their faceup, thier clothes, their pictures etc..and they're saying he's brand new.

      http://cgi.ebay.com.cn/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320002079635&ih=011&category=84635

      Brand new to me- especially when advertised by a doll COMPANY means not played with. It just seems to me like if they are trying to profit off of THEIR OWN WORK that they should use their own dolls to advertise.

      That would be like seeing a Luts El on Dream of Doll's page...all dressed up in DoD clothes..being sold by them...it just doesnt make sense to me..Theres also a Volks Heath modeling wigs for them.

      I personally dont trust dollzone as far as i can throw them..and i dont have a history of launching companies any length of space :|

    5. I've seen pictures of their minis that look like AR little fairs (in body) too. Actually, those two do look similar, BunnyChan. Only they smacked on elf ears and a bigger nose.

      ^^' Wolfram's headcap overlaps quite a bit. I'm not sure about other people's new DZ dolls. I think maybe my Megi got a headcap from one of the older DZ doll's mold. I was bothered by it at first but it sort of has the side effect of certain wigs staying on better, even though that probably wasn't intentional. He's still a good doll, though, and I'm very satisfied.

      I know DZ copied dolls before but I really love their original creations. Their own dolls are awesome and so distinctive. I don't know anything about the new bigger DZ dolls, so I'm not in a position to make any judgements there.

    7. Hmm, now you've mentioned it, I do see similarities between the DZ doll and Moon... But the faces aren't exactly at the same angles, could that have contributed to it?

      On the ebay auction of Camine, I thought the seller is just someone who sells DZ products and is not an official DZ representative?

      Edited to add, when did CP Moon come out? Did he came out early enough for there to be a chance for him to be copied?

    8. *squints*.......I can't really tell, Jugdeing from company stock images. The angles of the both faces are playing hell with perpective. -_-;;;;

      Oh wait nevermind, I just noticed the lower right coners.

      The DZ eyes are slightly wider at the outer corners of teh eyes, while the Luts. (EL?) eyes are wider at teh inner corners......

      ....Interesting.

      (Btw: That DZ nose looks kinda wonky to me.)

    9. It's really hard to judge by 2D images... but I was struck by the similarity of the DZ mini boy's body and the SD oldskin body that Usagi66 posted.

      One thing that is very easy to cast and then shrinks at least 30% is porcelain. I can't help wondering if they cast a Volks SD13 boy body in porcelain, altered a few details (?) and then shrunk it down, made the silicone molds and so forth... for their 1/4 boy bodies...

      I had a Dollzone Yi before, and I took many pics of him and my Luts Ttory, as the suspicion at the time was that they had copied Kid Delf bodies (in addition to Woori's head). I found that the bodies were not exactly the same or too close for comfort even... Unfortunately I deleted the pics after awhile.

      I believe that most of their sculpts are original these days... though the Yukinojo body thing really gives me pause.

      A certain amount of "inspired by" copying might be acceptable... but direct plagarism should be er... boycotted at least.

      My 2 cents

    10. To answer someone's question, CP/Luts released promotional images of "The Moon" months ago, but he was nameless. He has been out a few months now but I don't know if anyone had access to the doll to copy. He looks similar but The Moon's nose looks a lot more refined..the mature/angry eyes are similar but could also say the DZ one looks a bit like Tohya/Kohya's eyes too, the nose is also very pointy and similar..the DZ one is just wider.

      (Image is of my Kohya)

    11. I think the person who sells the dolls also does face-ups and the images are of dolls they did face-ups for. They are just a dealer and they sell things other than the DZ dolls so I don't really see a problem with them using pics of a doll they did the face-up for in their banners...

    12. Whee! Kohya! I love that doll.

      I don;t think the new DZ boy is copied from Moon. They have a similar look, but there are a lot of differences that are more than just sading or adding- the features are placed differently, and are lower on the face. I think the main similarity is the way the face-up has been done on the DZ boy- with eyebrows very reminicent of the Luts vulcan look! :lol:

      I'm much more concerned by the bodies than the heads... so far, all the new heads seem to be original- but some of the bodies do look suspect.

    13. Whereas they look slightly similar that doll versus the Moon aren't the same. The eyes are squintier toward the inside on the DZ doll which is a signature of their's as can be seen in Megi. However on the Moon they are more squinted toward the outside. And then there is the issue of the nose.

      Whereas the Moon could have been an inspiration, I find it highly unlikely that that particular head is a copy.

    14. Having observed the mini DollZone dolls...They appear to be frankensteined mixtures of Doll molds; I spy a DOD body, KidDelf Hands, and definately Mini Fee heads... I do have proof- lemme go get side-by-side pictures...

    15. Are these the old DZ minis or the recent ones? *_*

      I'm always interested in the comparisons...

    16. I'm not saying it is a copy of Moon, but don't you think it's possible that they modified the eyes??

    17. The placing of the eys on the head looks different- all the new DZ heads seem to have the features quite low down.

      Shape-wise, yes- they are similar.

    18. The old body/hands. There is no way that DollZone can tell me those aren't KidDelf hands. I know my Laksha's hands very well... However, the 'new' heads, such as Megi, look very much like MNF El. >_>; If I could find those shots of Megi, I could show you what I mean.

      And on the Moon front- I don't think so; DZ's boy's nose is FAR more angular. But he does remind me of someone...

      Furthermore... Apparently the resin process itself costs the company almost $200; If the dolls are only $200...How on earth are they making a profit?

    19. Wow- I'd never noticed a resemblance between Megi and Mini El....

      *goes to look*

      EDIT: OK-I just looked, and if that *was* based on Mini El they did something pretty dramatic to it... O.O

    20. I think it's Megi? The boy popped up blank on the marketplace... The boy I'm thinking of; his lips, eye-placement, ears, everything was identical; Without any mods. o_o;
