1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dollzone Originality - Discuss it here.

    1. Thats a nice idea ^^ . Sadly it won't fit in my sig next to my alliance banner, but I do believe in what it stands for.

    2. My point here was that my friend would have seen through that. He is a very skilled sculpter and he would have seen immediatelly if it had been so, because he does this resculpting and renewing miniatures and sculptures a lot.
The differences in the joint fitting were the keypoint.
It would be allready so difficult to do that it would be easier to make a new doll, so I can't understand why they would have done it that way. But then again, it is a possibility.
And I've read every comment on this thread, and every thread that has anything to do with DZ vs. Volks.
I've also tried the photos on top of eachothers and seen quite big size differences in their feet and such. I can make an slide animation out of it, to make my point if my word isn't reliable enough.
It is similar, but not same. Thus, it is not a piratism issue anymore, but a patent, IF they have used KIPS.
I hope this will resolve quickly and peacefully.

    3. thank you for the "one love" banner, babytarragon. i think it's a lovely gesture and will do my best to live up to it. i hope other people can too.

    4. It was misdirected anger on my part. You hadn't said anything about the similarities you see so, I presume you had ignored them. I know I can't take back my behaviour, and I didn't want to be a coward on top of it by editing my post.

About your sculptor friend: If he couldn't find the similarities, that could hopeful. Though I'm positive about what I see, the best outcome would be that the DZ 1/3 is original. but I'm afraid it's not what I see.

    5. I just have to make my point clear on this: I have nothing against Volks-fans, Volks does quality dolls and dollstuff, I only meant the 'hostile volks fans' that are around as much as there is fanatic DZ fans. DZ fans just haven't been as hostile as to send out angry PM's to Volks owners or any other people, they are just very aggressively standing on their side of the arguement. Just as I am.
I don't know if I'm aggressive though, I just wan't to state my opinion. :)
And I really want to support a smaller firm that I want to believe has corrected their ways from before.
I honestly hope that everything will end up right, though I must say, there will surely be people who will allways think DZ dolls as fakes, no matter what the outcome. We just have to stay strong. :)
This is in no way to be taken as an insult, just my view on the matter at hand.

    6. babytarragon, that's brilliant! Because in the end, nobody cares about the company, all they care about is the doll.

Somebody said on one of the earlier pages that because DZ has copied before, it makes it that much harder to establish credibility because people will be questioning their actions incessantly afterward, which is definitely happening. Comparisons have been made that I find strange, to be honest. (Megi and MNF El? Nina and Midori? O.o)

I own a DZ doll, and, I really love her. As easy as it is to find the similarities, I think it's also easy to find the differences. I seriously want to believe that they've reformed.

EDIT: I forgot to say how much I love this forum. Seriously, this topic is incredibly controversial, and we're divided on opinion, but we're all together as doll owners. (Sorry for the cheesiness XP)

    7. *hums bob marley*

Come on guys we all love our dolls. No need for anyone to get hostile and send PMs and make comments that are hurtfull because of a little conterversy. Stand by your opinions but dont accost other people with them. Even if this is the internet, what you say can still hurt.

P.s. thanks for the "one love" banner tarragon. Its lovely. <3

    8. Please don't take me as a blinded DZ fan, every doll has similarities, so ofcourse this has too. It is clear to me that they have used SD-16 as an inspiration/model, but I hardly think it's from a same mould, atleast from the part my sculptor friend talked with me. I too, sculpt a little, and many of my friends have used molds in jewellerymaking and such, and no one of these friends, (who also don't know a lot about dollies) see it to be likely that these two would have been 'from the same mold'.
I see it more like they have adored the SD-16 body and it's structure, but wanted to make their own version of it. I honestly hope it is like that.
      Like fanart. ;D

    9. you raise an interesting point here- i don't know if i'd be so anxious to support Dollzone if they weren't so much of an underdog company. i mean, i love my dolls (all of which until Stephanie arrives will be Dollzone), i love Dollzone's sculpts, i will not stop loving my dolls if Dollzone goes under, but this really seems to me to be a case of little Dollzone overshadowed by hulking Volks. Volks has millions of fans all over the world and Dollzone has... what? a thread on Den of Angels? i guess my point is, they'd have to be nuts to copy Volks' joints and whomever's hands (so far i've heard DoC and CP) and whatever Midori was (i own a Nina and she does not look like Midori). they would have to have the most overblown egos on the planet and think themselves invincible, and as totchi6 pointed out earlier, they just retired Lynn and Nicole- would such megalomaniacs have done so? i mean, really.

i think i've got off topic. sorry. my point is, a lot of people are assuming that DZ is comprised of idiots, to do all this blatant copying. i really have a hard time believing that anyone is that dumb.

    10. People keep bringing up the fact that "Volks elitests" have sent hostile PMs to Dollzone owners on DoA. The mods have yet to receive one PM regarding this so any further mentioning of the subject is OT in this discussion. The topic is about the dolls, not about the owners. This has been stated repeatedly by the mods and we ask that all of you please keep this in mind when posting to this thread after this post. We've kept this discussion open as long as we can and it keeps moving off course. Don't allow it to be locked because it can't stay on topic.

    11. Dollzone are very popular in China.

They have a DoA sized forum with many many DZ dolls, called DollSky I think. Their international market is secondary to their Chinese market.

    12. Well said, and a very good point! I actually talked with DZ's owner(?), sweet girl, just a little bad engrish.
It would be insane to go against so huge company, it really seems to me more like a 'fanproduct' ("See how we adore your superb skills, we wanted to make something like you guys too!") than a blatant copy("Durr, that's a popular company, let's copy them!"). Sorry for the bad examples, it's four am here. xD
I'm just really happy that some people still haven't lost their hope with DZ. <3

    13. oh, well, good for them.

    14. Oh, I think they received them on other forums, or by e-mail, I atleast haven't heard that it had happened here. I atleast hope so? o_o DoA is more peacefull and well organized than many of the other dollforums out there...

    15. oh, forget it, it's OT ;)

    16. O_O I am shocked. I understand that some people have the nerves to say something as awful as that in internet, but to your face?
*hugs* You poor thing, that is just awful. Even if I'd hate anything enough to brag about, I'd never would go to rub it in someones face who likes it. Manners people...*eye rolling*

    17. Can we please get back to the topic of the dolls and not the behavior regarding members off-forum? Thank you!

    18. thanks, but forgettaboutit, i shouldn't have posted. OTOTOTOTOTOTOTOTOT. back to the discussion!

    19. Sorry, I got carried away, I'll stay in topic from this on.

    20. I think the similarities are really too close to be 'inspired by,' such as the unique hands and feet that are near identicle. And that the DZ boy has the same length legs, chest and hips, and longer legs and middle torso I think just condemn them more. I've also talked with a very talented sculptor friend, and we see alike. But at the same time, I can see how another sculptor would see the differences. Maybe DZ adored the SD16 sculpt, but by making their own version of it, they were already treading on very, very thin ice.

And I know some authors who have made fanart and fanfiction of their characters illegal. It's annoying, but that's what they have done. I don't think Volks would be one to take lightly to 'fanart' like things. I think the fact that Volks has taken action against DZ so far seems to me like they very much believe it is a copy. DZ may retaliate that it was a direct inspiration, but I still think that's treading the line.

I can copy an image near exact just by looking at it. Does it mean it's my own art? No really. I just took an image and used my hand to make another. I'm thinking DZ doesn't understand that this sort of thing is 'wrong,' and that is why they are retaliating in the lawsuite.

(Personally, I think Volks is a lot more tolerant to other companies than some think. I know someone who took a CP doll in a carrier to their store, and when she took him out after asking them if something would fit, the man working there said that he was really cool and beautiful.) <-- Maybe OT? ><
