1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. unfortunately, as in ALL hobbies, there are those who can't respect boundaries. There are people who respect, and people who don't. Our hobby is no exception. I'll always love my boy. I don't care what anyone thinks. I bought him because I love him. Not because anyone else would. Dresden will stay with me until he is resin DUST lol Or i'm dead. Whichever comes first.

But i must admit, he got a CRAZY amount of response :) Lots of people seem to like him on here. LOL Just the occasional asshat who wants to be nasty.

    2. I honestly have to wonder what's the point of even bringing this debate up again. The entire sordid tale is available for anyone that can use the search function, and I don't see anyone suggesting that there be a sticky about Dollmore or Phantomdoll, or Luts for that matter. Basically what the situation comes down to is that there are a few people who seem to be self-righteous on behalf of a business. Not an individual, not an institution, but a for-profit entity. I would challenge those people to find out if there is any pending legal action from Volks. It's a matter of public record, and if you care enough to continue to bring this matter up, then it should be no trouble for you to do so.

Also, I saw mention that the current DZ MSD bodies were copies of Kid Delf? That's interesting, I have a boy and a girl mini, and having seen Kid Delfs in person, I'm wondering where that idea came from. Please let me put your concerns to rest, as it's not true.

Another faction seems to consist of people that want to 'protect' people that need no protection. I would encourage you, before you start warning people away from Dollzone, do your research. Every doll is sold with parting lines and seams smoothed, and magnetic headcaps are standard in all new releases. I have yet to hear of a later generation Dollzone doll that has broken or chipped, which is more than I can say for several of the pre-eminent doll brands. Every Dollzone doll that I have ever handled has stood and posed right out of the box with no modifications.

Beyond that, Dollzone has made admirable efforts to reach out to their Western customers. They've named direct agents in several regions who are able to provide their customers with *only* domestic shipping costs, and a friendly, knowledgeable point of contact that can communicate with them in their own language and on their own terms. They make it easy to buy their dolls, and they offer them at a reasonable price, something that has been nearly unheard of in the hobby up to this point.

I'm curious as to where these rumors of Dollzone being ugly or boastful come from, as this is the first I've heard of it. It also contradicts what I have seen. However, I'm sure we'd all be very interested to see direct quotes and links to postings where this has occurred. Surely someone has them?

At any rate, I think we all agree that given that we are all doll collectors and came to this forum to find like-minded people, that it's hardly fair to make a respectable number of forum members feel like their beloved dolls are somehow less. Frankly, I personally have a less than sterling opinion of some very popular dolls, but I don't feel it's my place to inflict my negative feelings on those who love them.

I would ask for the same courtesy.

    3. ::Stands up and applauds::

      Well written! :D

    4. Oh good lord, are you serious??!!

That has GOT to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard... to have people getting THAT distraught over a DOLL. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Please! There are real issues out there for people to go smash things about!! Like... hunger, and poverty, and war, and ... I dunno, LITTERING. I mean seriously, if the amount of energy that has been spent running DZ into the ground in the not-quite-a-year Ive been in the hobby had been expended on an actual worthwhile cause, the world might be a nicer place!

Let it go, already. Have a little perspective. The ship has sailed.

      *********************
      Oh!
Standing ovation, part two, for mosaicwolf! BRAVO!

    5. this is very well said, applaud to u ^^ I'm watching this thread to hear different opinions on this but i agree wholely, this argument is just plain upsetting.

that is soooo true! applaud to u ^^

i hope so too, Rae was fine when i took him to a mini meeting and i can't go to amecon this year. I had thought of taking him to HK with me but maybe not (only cos i can take one bag with me and i don't wanna squish him in with everything else) still i would b careful, i WILL take him to any anime cons i can go to! (just the task of parents )

thank you ^^ I think some ppl have been very rude on this topic but i'll love to say u're very understanding in this. If only everyone would listen to reason, this argument would have ceased long ago.

    6. My source of information about Dollzone's policies in China (we all know their custmer service and policies for international are unfaultable) is someone who owns a doll business in China. I really can't incriminate the person because they are scared that Dollzone would get them shut down if they were found to be 'spreading slander'.

Also, all of this is in Chinese so I again ask anyone who is is fluent in Chinese and on the Dollsky forum to share with us any quotes which give us an insight into Dollzone in China. I'm digging these up myself but obviously for someone with only basic Chinese speaking skills it's very difficult.

I'd like to fully find out how Dollzone in China conduct themselves. It'll be interesting to find out, won't it?

    7. Don't let that put you off from going to meetups. For the most part, people are very nice. There have only been a few instanced where my DZ owning friends had difficulties with someone in person, but it was nothing violent. We were at a con, and this one girl kept comparing my friend's DZ with two of our other dolls, insisting that he was obviously a copy. He looked *nothing* like either doll, but that was beside the point. She should have had enough sense to realize that she was being very rude (I really don't think she realized it).

Unfortunately, some people just don't have good social skills and don't realize when their behavior is inappropriate. However, you're really more likely to run into idiots online than in real life. It's much easier to be a jerk and threaten to destroy your personal property when you're not standing infront of them. People often aren't so brave when faced with a real person and not a just a name on a computer screen.

    8. yeah, i told calf love that too last night Taco.

i never even thought about it whan i took Kitty to my first meet, and all of the people there said how pretty she was and how well she stood.
i'm having more trouble wearing in my mnf shiwoo to get her to stand upright than i did with Kitty (dz tintan)

there really isn't any need for trashing unless it's an obvious copy and breaking the law.

    9. Hm, my concern here is that, at this point, this sounds a bit like sour grapes. I do know that Dollzone required all of their agents to standardize their pricing across the board. Before that, the Chinese dealers were able to undercut people like Uneide and Emory because they offered dolls at the domestic Chinese prices. (Keep in mind that nearly all doll companies offer their dolls a bit more cheaply in their home countries.) Given the fact that this took away any advantage they may have had with Western customers, I'm sure there probably are some hard feelings there.

Also? Do we know if any of what was said was done so officially on behalf of Dollzone? Because if what you're talking about is the work of the individual, it would be like Emory spouting off on DoA, and everyone then holding the company responsible for his actions.

I'd also like to point out, that as far as negative online behavior, one of the worst offenders that I know of is Angel Region. From what I've heard, their nasty attitude is starting to get them into trouble. My point is, everyone is so quick to condemn Dollzone, and every other company gets a free pass. Why is that?

Copying Woori was obvious, and they corrected that. Copying the SD-16 body? That's a little more thorny. The jointing is similar, but the bodies are different sizes. That's not a direct cast. There are also many features of the DZ bodies that do not in any way resemble the SD-16 body. There's no smoking gun here, certainly nothing so flagrant as the mold marks from inside the Dollmore model doll body that match the Dollshe body.

If you don't like Dollzone, vote with your wallet. That is one of the most powerful weapons that you, as a consumer, has at hand. Otherwise? Give it a rest.

    10. I guess everyone is in this personally, because I kinda see it the opposite! It seems to me that if anyone was to complain of Dollzone's quality, etc they would be shot down by the extremely loyal fanbase. I guess you get a similar thing with Volks. You just can't complain about those two companies without getting trouble for it. Any other company, you'd get comments of 'complain to the company' etc.

As for Dollmore, I used to be an extremely loyal customer of theirs. I guess I was a 'Dollmore elitist'. After the Dollshe situation, I sold both my Dollmores, even though I did find them lovely dolls, great posing, cute looks. I just didn't feel right having them anymore. And I used to adore them. So I didn't give Dollmore a free pass, personally.

    11. How many Volks collectors get personal threats? How many Volks collectors have their integrity and character called into question because they like their dolls? How many of them have to deal with frequent public ridicule, or maybe even worse, put a lot of time, effort and care into their dolls, their looks and their clothes only to hear 'that's really nice... for a Dollzone.'

I think we, as a group, are tired of being the collective whipping boys of the entire hobby. And speaking for myself, I'm not going to put up with it anymore. It's ridiculous.

Not to mention, Dollzones are often entry-level dolls. Have any of the hateful, vindictive adults that go on their punishing tirades about Dollzone considered even for a moment that they may be attacking children? What kind of image are we projecting as collectors if we scare away the next generation of our hobby because we're too snobby to accept the dolls that they, in many cases, still saved very hard for?

    12. This is becoming silly. So I change my post

    13. All of the above have happened to me fairly often ever since I've been in the hobby. If I had gotten my Lishe as my first doll instead of my eighth then I imagine I wouldn't have gotten any of the same treatment.

    14. Edit: This comment was not relevent to the discussion. Please delete.

    15. No offense, but I'm not sure you're the best example. I've noticed that you seem to draw a lot of negative attention to yourself.

    16. Pardon? When and where?

    17. All this debate has made me go look at their site. I'm not a doll snob, don't care what the brand is-- if I like it, I like it--- and what I see on their site:

      I Like.

and I don't see anything that looks any more "copied" on their site right now than looking at anyone else's site and seeing similarities of features and resin. We only have two eyes, nose, mouth, eyebrows to work with here-- so there are bound to be similarities in faces.
My "real" kids look a little alike, but I can't consider that I copied one. oh-- they are both the same 'brand', though. ;)

I'm still reading the whole debate here to see if there is more to the issue than what I have seen on the first and last page, but so far--- I just don't see what all the hoo-haa is about (I did this whole post just so I could say "hoo-haa").
      :)

    18. This is getting silly

usagi is also right, i've seen it before. I've seen ppl use Volks as a threat often too. On the two sides of the spectrum the sword is double ended. In truth i doubt whichever doll u start with, no one is gonna be rude. It depends on ppl's social skills.

      >__< tarragon...

mosaicwolf, i'm very very grateful of ur support on u on backing up DZ. Cos i myself like DZ alot too and would be proud to Mo isn't a copy as far as the eyes can tell u.

BUT at the end of the day everyone is valid. It shouldn't be an argument of Volks against Dollzone cos, i personally like both and hope to be able to own my dream doll that happens to be a volks (excluding the doll i'm saving for right now) I feel terrible and feel ridiculed as well as if Rae isn't good enough cos he is a DZ. But this isn't the companies fault it's the way ppl interact with each other. There are plain rude ppl. I get upset about the way ppl treat DZ like dirt but at the same time bashing Volks/ their supporters are the same as what they do to DZ owners. I don't think arguing between ourselves will solve problems.

To let u all kno, i agree with each of u. I'm very happy to havd usai665 to give us one opinion, babytarragon for another as well as mosaicwolf in support of DZ. This argument is slowly becoming personal attacks now...

    19. It seems to me that in this thread there are two people whom people going back and forth with.

      STOP quoting them y'all...

You all know whom I'm talking about, I'm not about to say names (glares). Don't dignify them with a response.

    20. back off you guys. *_* if you want to attack/insult each other do it privately.
