1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. *cough*

(Cassiel, if you'd not like me to post this, feel free to delete.)

    2. Aha! There's clearer pictures. Thanks, Valentine.

      Wow. It's so... blatant. ._.'

    3. 0.o Holy crap.

Okay....as an owner of an SD16...I can see where people are getting this idea.

      .....

      Holy crap. **stares**

    4. Wow. Those photos settle it for me.

    5. A couple things, taken from this pic.

I flipped the DZ doll's arm horizontally (mirror image) and put it next to Yukinojo's arm:

I also put the torso from the SD13 (pictured on the far left of the group pic) next to the DZ's torso:

And this one's just me playing, but here's Yukinojo's legs stretched out to the same length as the DZ doll's:

    6. Armeleia, I love you.

    7. XD Deleted, because the argument as changed since page one and I'm no longer on topic. Sorry!

    8. I was around for this, but I can't seem to find any posts on it... DZ owners that own other dolls say that the resin is no different. But someone mentioned it could be a lower quality resin that is heavier to give it 'weight'... Wish I could remember more/find that post. >O<

Actually, it might have no problem at all being on a 1/4 body. I had a 1/3 head on a 1/4 body for a bit, creepy, but it fit without flopping. Sorry to bring up such old posts XD

Also would love to see a DZ mini and a MSD comparison. Anyone have both?

    9. Just thought I'd say what I've been thinking about this issue...

After looking over everything, it really is quite obvious to me that they've copied. I own a DZ doll, but do not regret buying it in light of all of this. I bought it because I like the head mold, it was a cheap doll, and I plan on modifying everything else to unrecognizablity anyway, so it doesn't matter much to me. But I don't support what they are doing, and would never buy a single doll from them again, no matter how much I liked the head mold. I never thought they were that bad of a company, even with their previous "slip." Until I saw this. It really is quite shocking.

    10. Whats freaky is the two Minis in that shot look like my Too and Bee-A's bodies next to each other (with the exception of the wahcking great hooba's that girls sporting)

    11. Even if they are "slightly" different, I can see way to many similarities for it to be an "inspiration".
Franken-dolling other parts is even worse than blatant copying, because they are doing something wrong and it could take a long while for people to figure it out.
Has DZ ever made any statements about their past copying (apologies, etc?)

    12. I was wondering this myself, and also if there was any legal action taken by the other company(ies)?

    13. I've heard rumors of CP taking action, However, in International courts, They probably wouldn't be able to say anything till it's settled or a conviction comes out.

    14. When a friend of mine emailed Liria a few months ago (when DZ had just come back to DoA) she said that CP was still looking for information and that they would appreciate fans sending any new developments. I know this would look more impressive stated by Liria or CP themselves, but I can't really control what they do, just passing on what I've read :sweat

    15. Hmm. I'm no expert, but in my opinion, there is something very shady going on here, whether it is directly modifying an existing sculpt or just making a sculpt from scratch that looks ridiculously close to an existing doll. (to which I say: WHY? It's not like Volks or CP are companies nobody's ever heard of. One company, this many coincidences? It's very difficult to believe.)

I'd like to note, though, to the people who already own DZ dolls... personally, my feeling towards you guys is: you've already paid for it, and it looks good whether or not it is a copy, so I'm more than happy to see pictures of it and adore it with you. My issue is with the company, and with warning potential future customers of something that seems suspicious to me. I have no problem with you, the doll owner, and I definitely don't think your dolls are worthless -- as long as you love them, well, there you are. It's just my opinion that, if it does come to light that DZ is copying, we shouldn't exactly support them any further, should we?

I'm also curious if DZ has ever put out any official statements about this themselves.

Edited to add: also, I don't know if this is still being debated, but I really can't see any similarity worth pointing at in any of DZ's new heads...

    16. I can see the differences, but he's not for me anyway...I certainly hope he isn't a copy though. Hopefully inspired by but not copied.

    17. In the case of Jo, it actually is a problem; It doesn't even have to do with the mold being copied, but how the joints are put together; Volks has the system patented now; Anything close to it can be up on the chopping block. @_@;

    18. I'm pretty sure, but not 100%, that what's patented is the KIPS system, which are little latex pads made to fit into the joints, not the joint shape themselves. It's sort of like the next generation of sueding.

    19. Oh, really? Okay, thanks for clearing that up. :)

    20. I have DOCs and Dollzones, it's not a DoC body. The Dollzone body is more mature and poses a lot better than the DoC bodies. They're also jointed slightly differently in the hips and knees.

ETA: I think Megi was out a decent amount of time before MNF El, because I had my Megi ordered before anyone had a MNF El that I'm aware of. Wasn't he? Megi has very distinctive folds over his eyes, and his lips are VERY deep set. Photographs flatten things, so it's not possible to see how his lips are different from an El's in a photo, but they are very different IRL.

Although, when I first had him, someone DID mistake him for a MNF El, which confused me greatly largely due to the lip-shape variances.

The Kid Delf hands also look a bit fatter and less defined than the DZ hands, but I agree they might have intentionally used the same hand pose.
