1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Domuya Flexi vs ShinyDoll Thassa bodies

Dec 31, 2006

    1. "The domuya, as I have seen when she's visited, appears to be a little hard to get used to but once you're accustomed it seems fine, and she looks wonderfully natural when sitting."

Because of the loose ball structure at the joints, I agree the Domuya can be quite daunting to pose. Thaasa being willing to stand many different ways perfectly right out of the box is a real pleasure. I appreciate too, there's not a learning-curve to enjoy the Thaasa. I love that Thaasa can sit and look so demure with her legs or ankles crossed. Since the fingers are separate, and the hands are not mirror image of one another, her hands lay in her lap or touch her face so gracefully. It amazed me that the Thaasa will pose as securely as the Obitsu, and yet is resin without the mechanical nature of the Obitsu. For me, the first time using my Thaasa was a jaw-dropping experience!

    2. Can anyone with a ShinyDoll Thaasa body tell me if the doll can sit with its legs tucked up to its chest?

      --MW

    3. Yes, Thaasa definitely can sit with her knees to her chest (with leg choice of "hollow thigh"). She can also wrap her arms around her legs, if you wish.

    4. I just looked at the website and almost cried. This body looks PERFECT for what I am envisioning for my doll -- petite and not overly endowed, but still feminine. I had been considering the Domuya flexi body, but the Thassa bodies have just grabbed me.

I have a white skin CP Luts Nanuri head. Which resin tone would match it, the ivory or the pinky ivory?

Does anyone have any advice for ordering? I really really love the look of the Thassa body and I want one. ^__^

      ~Tara

    5. Ivory matches CP white. :)
You can just email Shin to order. My Thaasa body was shipped within two days of my contacting him. Payment by Paypal, as I recall. Yay for you! :fangirl:

    6. I hope nobody minds my posting a photo here, but it seems like the easiest way to answer. Also you can see the hollow backed thigh and double knee joint very well. I chose not to get the solid thigh option because I wanted her to be as poseable as possible all of the time.

    7. Another question: what is the circumference of the thaasa body's waist and hips?

    8. The Thaasa waist is about 6 1/2" and the hips at the widest point measures about 9 3/4". She wears SD clothing very well, though her waist is somewhat smaller. I've moved the snap over about 1/4" on skirts I want to stay exactly at the waist. It's a cute look to have some skirts drop a little for other outfits, expecially when a top is worn outside the skirt. For jeans and pants, the SD waistline hasn't been a problem. Though we have Thaasa bodies in stock now, we are waiting to receive the sterling jewlery and lingerie outfit which we will be sending with our Thaasa's. Our site for the Thaasa's as well as a collection of SD items, isn't yet complete. We expect it in February but anyone who would like to PM me, is welcome to. Though I have no history here at DOA, my Ebay feedback is 100% positive and over 1100, in addition, I've had an online business for almost 10 years. We are incredibly excited about Shin's work with the Thaasa bodies! What a fabulous doll! The body answers everything I've ever wanted in a doll. Think I'm thrilled with Thaasa??! giggle

    9. Thanks, playdate. That was just the information I was looking for. And thanks for the photo, St. James. It sounds as if the Thaasa is just as flexible and even more stable than the Domuya. Good to know.

    10. I tried and tried to enjoy an SD Domuya before I discovered the Thaasa body. You are soooo right. . . Thaasa is MUCH more stable than Domuya, and there's no "learning curve" or exercise in patience, as with the Domuya. The Thaasa body goes easily to any pose, stays put in poses and is simply a pleasure. I think Thaasa does it all!

    11. My Thaasa girls live inside my heart as no other BJD has ever managed to do. They are possessed of such an elegance. I am very glad to learn that Shin-san's work will be shown to a much larger audience. I wish you every luck at the shows and with your new site!!

I've been a year playing with Clio (Youki) and clothing. I have found SD sizes work quite well for her (especially dressess) so long as you are not hoping for a form fit through the lower part of the rib cage, waist and hips. Particularly in the waist and hips, Thaasa bodies are slighter in circumference. Many trousers I have tried on her have been very baggy in the hips, upper part of the thighs and waist. Some SD-sized trousers will slip right off her hips.

When I was looking for a pair of trousers that would be better-fitting than the standard SD fare (which I sometimes have to tuck or pleat depending on manufacturer), I asked Sewaddict if she'd be willing to modify one of her trouser patterns to fit Clio. She was a great help, and I got two incredible pair of trousers.

      Clio in trousers that fit!

    12. What are the price difference between the two bodies. I was thinking of eventually getting a flexi body but I stumble accross this thread and now i'm debating which to add to my wishlist. Thank you in advance

    13. The Thaasa body may be a little more expensive than other BJD bodies, but IMO, in this case you get what you pay for. It is well worth the price.

    14. When anyone with a Domuya flexi body received it did anyone else have the stomach joint completely backward in the packaging? I just got mine and it was backwards, I moved it in the right position and it's gotten looser over the last couple days. So just curious if that's normal. Thanks for any help :)

    15. What're the resin matches like on these two bodies? Which would match Luts resin closest? :) My girls need an extra body between them - it's starting to get a bit crowded, and they don't like sharing much ;D

    16. Just to give a bump to this thread. I recently received my Thaasa body from BJDFantasy, which is run by playdate. You can see box opening pictures and commentary about the neat extras and good service on my blog. http://blogofstench.livejournal.com/96433.html

Also, if you want to see more examples of the Thaasa's flexibility, you can go to this thread: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116342

Thaasa is one of the most flexible and well-behaved dolls I've ever played with. I recommend it!

    17. Sorry, more questions. Is the resin shiny or is it just in the pictures?

    18. In my experience (I've never ordered a Thaasa sanded), the pinky-ivory resin has a shinier look to it without sanding (that's the resin, not just the picture) ... the ivory is more satin-like, but still on the shiny side.

The resin (which is very high quality) sands beautifully, and when you sand it, the shininess factor goes way down (compare pictures of the made up heads, which probably have been sanded).

Shin-san charges extra for body sanding ... I don't see a sanding option at Playdate's BJDFantasy (that may be forthcoming), so my guess would be that at present, you'd need to do the sanding yourself. That really isn't hard (and what a loving way to bond with your doll!) ... I just make sure to use a grit no coarser than 320.

    19. Okay, thank you!

    20. Serraphym, Shin has discontinued his sanding option, but I agree with Fair Emma in that, for me it was enjoyable to do myself. The small amount of time it took to do, afforded me additional appreciation of the lovely, graceful body. Thaasa is soooo amazing! Obviously, I have a serious case of "Thaasa Love"! giggle
