It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Dream of Doll (DOD) bad expirience

Jun 13, 2007

    1. I'm sorry about your experience but I've also heard about the opposite experience where they mismarked the box and started getting blacklisted by certain countries. Customs would hold the doll until the owner paid the fees and they would fine the doll company for improper labelling

Perhaps the problem is they should not have agreed to something that would get both you or them in trouble

    2. I actually agreed on paying the 198$ I was charged with. I told them I would be more than happy to pay if they would give me my doll in time, before I move to a diffrent city.

I this entire thing has stressed me up so much that I am having a hard time sleeping these last few days. If this thing continues I will start begging them to pay the damn taxes. I really don't know what will happen to the doll once I get her in my hands. Maybe I will sell her and Sorren and never again get a DOT doll. Can anyone understand how this whole deal has hurt me? Not the taxes but the fact that they have been keeping my doll there for almost a month and I am starting to believe that I might not actually get her, although I do hope to have her soon.

    3. You still haven't even received your doll? That's messed up.

Customs is such a horrible place. I mean, I know it has to be there, but it's just such an awful thing.

Canadian customs has been holding my sister's doll for a week now, with no sign of releasing her. It's so stupid.

    4. darkangelxix :( I'm so sorry you got hit with such huge fees! I do agree that if DOD said they would mark the package down for you that they should have done it.

Though I live in the US and haven't been hit with any fees myself. I DO know what its like to have a doll stuck in the customs office. My first doll (DZ Megi) was held up in customs for nearly 2 months last summer. I never got taxed on it, but I also was never given a reason for the hold up. :(

    5. 2 months!!!!!! OMG I hope that this won;t happen to me as well. Things usually don;t get hold in costums if they are going to be charged with fees and taxes...

    6. when i bought my doll,i asked them to mark down, and they actually mailed back saying that they couldnt do that, but when it arrived, they actually did mark it down to 120$. i was lucky that customs didnt find it suspicous. if not, they probably wouldve locked my dolls up or smth :p
i still had to pay a lot for that 120$ so, i'm happy they marked it down even if it is only a little bit

good luck with getting your doll out of custom, i know what a pain it is :(

    7. It's too bad that they said they'd mark down the package and then didn't, but honestly, I think it's absurd to get angry with a company for obeying the law. It's a shame if you feel your country's importing and tax codes aren't fair, but that's not a doll company's problem, and every time they lie on a customs form they run the risk of getting in trouble and having to pay a ton of fines. Dolls are luxury items, and if you want to import them to your country you need to be prepared to pay to do it.

    8. In case you didn;t notice it's not only a money thing, it's also that they have my doll for almost a month now!!!! I have been trying to get het out of costums, but they don;t give a s... about me!!! At the end of this month I am leaving from this house, this city and I move to a new one!! It's four hours of nasty road away!!! How am I supposed to get my doll then, if they finally deicde to deliver her here???

Also I see your point, but please try to understand mine!! I got angry because not only they suddenly decided to obey the law, but because they did not notify about that and I sounded like a total jurk on the phone when I talked with the costums office. Oh and by the way, what applies to your country doesn't automatically apply to every country and even more to Greece.

    9. I can see why you are angry-- but it's just plain silly to be it.
and saying that you will never order from DOD due to not abiding to your request is absurd. Honestly, you shouldn't be in this hobby if you are going to complain about customs over the dolls you purchase.

You were asking them to do something illegal. Just because they did it then before, doesn't mean they can do it now. :/

edit: and you should be more respectful towards other countries. Just because the US doesn't get hit with customs when it comes to dolls and toys, we do get hit with other things. Each country has their own way of handling things. You should be directing your anger towards customs rather than a doll company.

    10. If you're moving your postal service will likely have a forwarding address option you can pay for. This is generally a good idea anyways since there's always some place that you forget to update your address. You may want to check with your postal service about that. Also if the new people moving in are nice they'll sometimes let you know if you leave your contact information behind as well.

    11. Luna-rouge: I see that you understood at least partially, what I mean about other countires being diffrent that US. For now that will do. By the way my comment was not directed in the US exclusively. I meant that every country diffrent from the other.

I also see that you didn't understand why I am not going to shop from DOD again. Let me explain: Since they cannot do what I ask them and I am putting them in danger, I decided not to put them in danger again. I am also a bit upset for the fact that they did not give me a notice, so I would rather shop from a company that takes the trouble to notify about changes.

I also fail to see how are you to decided whether or not I should be in this hobby. If there are companies that are willing to help me and I like the dolls they produce there is no reason why I should quit, especially when our costums are blissfully unwear of bjds and their actual cost :)

rillystar:We have no such service here :S

    12. Huh?? Honestly, that's quite a statement, I gotta tell you. I complain every time when something gets stuck at customs for months (dolls or whatever) and I complain almost every time I have to pay the fees. And I certainly don't think I should be out of any hobbies because I choose to complain.

I think many people are missing the point. It's not about being legal or not. Luts (and many other companies) always ALWAYS declare as a gift without anyone asking them to do so. Now let's all go BOOO them, because they're constantly breaking the law, shall we?

It's about the company making a promise and breaking it. Intentionally or by mistake (more likely they just forgot to check their records when they were filling in the forms) and thus creating unexpected delays and problems for the customer.

    13. darkangelxix how bout paying a trip to customs to see the hold up? that's how we get ANYTHING out of customs in my country. >_>; just go there and ask politely if you can go get your package, and if you haven't paid, pay on the spot or before hand and present the reciept. ^^

    14. Thank you for posting that question, I will answer it immediatelly:)
I also hope you like the joke about Senior Delf Abadon:ppp Look, I live so close to sparta:pp

Can you believe that I searched for a map of Greece and I found one in French!!!

    15. wow French. O_o

ouch, that IS a long trip. >_> i guess i'm lucky i live in Manila lol. Well, since that will take a long time, just keep calling them asking for your doll. I assume you've paid the fee already, so just keep calling them to remind them about your package. that may get them on their feet.

    16. No I haven't I keep calling them so that they allow me to pay!!! I think I will pay it to the post man who brings the doll... I hope that they don't expect me to make the trip in order to pay the fee. I really hope that. Nut if that's the case then I will be able to go there once I have moved to Athens.

    17. O_o okay that's weird, even for us. they have to allow you to pay? o_o wow. well, i hope you can pay for it soon! ^^

    18. Well, I've managed to avoid customs so far *hope I'm not jinxing myself*, and I can't say I know my country's customs policies very well. I can imagine how much it must suck to have to pay a whole lump of extra cash when you expected not to receive any/little fees...

I have no clue what DOD marked my package as, it was a year ago though. Anyway, I thought your little map thing was really cute, and it certainly proves how different it is for people from different countries. Where I live it's so small that it'd take me less than 2 hours by bus to go from one end of the country to the other

    19. I meant that they have to tell where and when to pay, who to pay! They have given me no information on the matter, I can;t just go and pay a random person, right?? If they tell me that I need to go to the costums office myself, when I move to Athens, I will go there and pay them. If they tell me I need to give the money to the person that will deliver the doll, I will do it. If they tell me I need to go to the post office and pay the money I will go. But they will have to tell me and give me a notice. That's what I meant. I wan't to pay now, but I can't because I am missing the above information.

blackpaperbagIt's 5 hours by bus to go to athens and then I think it's another one hour or one and half to reach the airport. I cannot drive this road myself, it is very dangerous for me, a lot of people more expirienced drivers than me, found themselves off the cliffs!

    20. I still stand by my statement. Hobby is all about enjoying. Why stay in hobby if you're going to complain and have added stress? That's not what it's about eh?
Complaining to us hasn't really done anything has it? A notification yes, but honestly, the companies have are under no obligation to us to mark the packages as free gifts or lower the value of the item. Just because they had done it before, doesn't mean they will do it now.

Now that Canada has a crackdown on Luts, maybe DOD is taking precaution. Saying that Greece doesn't know about them much and hence will pass on a large box from a doll company is likely a fact, but doesn't mean DOD knows that. and I highly doubt they will take the time to learn which countries they can or cannot mark down, so they do it for everyone.
Besides, they are a company trying to make money. Do you honestly believe in their promises? Would you confide in McDonald's if they made a promise?

DarkAngelxx just wanted to avoid customs, as does anyone who lives in foreign countries. I would too if I were in that situation. There are reasons countries tax on these items, but that would be off topic. But anywho, its nothing to get angry about. She wasn't able to avoid it and pins it on DOD for breaking their end of the deal. Maybe they just didn't want to be penalized. Who could blame them? I rather be honest than pay fees.

In the end, she decided she will not buy from them. It's her loss in my opinion, but she can always get it secondhand through the marketplace, and I wish her the best of luck <3
