i'm planning to make wigs for my crew. there are instructions on the web for wigs of fabric and glued mohair fiber that are pretty easy to make and these little ones don't take much fiber at all. i have tons left over from ther crafting projects to work with
I crochet wigs for my girls. Myri's is brown bamboo thread and Richi's is black cashmere. You can also buy wigs for dollhouse children here: http://www.houseofcaron.com/wigs.htm
Thank you! Tomorrow is the big moment when I find out if I like the micro-fairies. I should get to check an Iris out in person at a local store that sells BJDs! I hear she lets you look at the dolls as long as they aren't on layaway for anyone. I hope I like her. I could take her anywhere and that would be so cool!
Fluffy Dress! by richila9098, on Flickr This thread is so much fun and making this "big" dress for my tiny girl made me giggle.
Thank you! I am loving this thread-Lizbeth size 20 is so lightweight she can still stand solid even in this dress.
I started with a 7, but have worked my way down to a 10-but I used a 6 to make a foundation chain. A I am using a 10 right now and it is really making the ribbing in the bodice look better. I am using patterns from this website at half scale to get different looks. I want to do the romper, but I need more practice first. http://byhookbyhand.blogspot.com/2011/07/tiny-teacup-trousseau.html
So, I did get to go to the doll store a few days ago, and I was so impressed with the joints on Iris! For a doll so small and tiny, they were so intricate! I also really liked her color. It is hard to tell in a lot of the photographs, but she's actually cast in purple resin and has pink blushing. Her face also looked really good in person. It seemed so delicate! I definitely want to a doll from this company. I was very impressed with them. I liked Iris, but I also really liked Velenia too! When I go back on Tuesday, I'll be buying one of the two. Or at least making a layaway plan.
richila, thank you for the info. I made a dress for my Amelia Thimble doll from 2 strands of "jeans thread" held together & I love the way it turned out. Jeans thread is a bit thicker than sewing thread. I use it to make bead crochet bracelets for myself. I have some size 20 crochet cotton - I'm going to give this a try for Fiona. She still only has one dress to wear. edited to add: I checked out the link you provided. I love that website! I saw it a long time ago & forgot where it was. Thank you so much. Did you see the adorable little dollhouse made from a wooden CD holder? What a great idea that is. Here's some Fiona spam: [/IMG]
They are pretty amazing for such a tiny doll. You're so lucky to have a store where you can see them in person. I'm looking forward to seeing who comes home with you.
I almost feel like the joint structures are decent for ANY doll. And I love seeing all of the picspam of your fairies, guys! Keep them coming please! Also, that doll link is very cool! I feel inspired looking at the doll houses!
Hi, richila. Is that a 1/12 dollhouse chair? I have tons of dollhouse stuff, but most of it is half-inch scale. I don't have it here with me in Florida, so Fiona will have to wait until summer to check it out. I finished her dress made with jeans thread. It wasn't a lot of fun at the beginning - nothing to hold on to! But I love it now that it's finished. I started with a size 7 hook and went up a size for each row of the skirt, ending with a size 4 hook. There's a better picture of it here: http://flickr.com/gp/fayfl/LvMWMq Here's Fiona checking out one of my glass unicorns in her new dress: [/IMG]
