1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

DreamOfDoll (Dream Of Children) Discussion (DoC) Part 3

Aug 26, 2013

    1. Congrats! :D I got my first DOC (a Bee-a, through split) in early 2007, and both she and her partner Too had magnets and s-hooks so yours must be earlier again!

    2. I think the switch was made in 2007. My DoCs from summer 2006 still came with hand strings and no headcap magnets, but once the new more mature DoC body was released in 2007, they updated the old bodies too. So, they're definitely pre-2007 but probably impossible to determine a more precise age.

Congrats on your new dolls :D

    3. So pre-2007 definitely. I think that's as close as we'll get narrowing it down <3 . That means they are either as old as my oldest bjd, or a bit more than that.

      Thanks for the help everyone!

    4. Yup, that sounds about right to me, too. My DOCs from 2005 and 2006 both have non-magnet headcaps and no s-hooks in the hands/feet.

    5. @Air My Yu should be from 2006 (If what the previous owner told me correct). He has magnet in head but no S-hook in the hands/feet. I guess that your dolls should be somewhat older.

    6. Mir and Yen have arrived! This is the picture when they arrived yesterday. I since swap the body, Mir is a boy and Yen is a girl and it works well. I plan to trade Yen girl in the future as I already have Yen in my collection.

    7. Congratulations!! They look adorable!! :D
I received a Mir a few months ago, but she still needs some work before showing her. So glad to see your DOCs <3

    8. Thank you! She is such a cutie! I don't know why she is not very well known. I might change her face up in the future, and she needs some cleaning and restringing (problem of buying old dolls lol) but I really love her!

    9. Hi everyone!
I need your help once more :sweat . I unassembled my kids to give them a good cleaning, and now have no idea how to re-tie the hands. Can you show me pics of how your non-"s-hook" hands are attached? or I'm not sure if anyone has the old instructions on how to tie them? I tried adding s-hooks but the space is too small for any to get in there :(

    10. Same way as the OG Volks dolls:

    11. Thanks @Doll-Mage ! That solves a part of the puzzle :D Now I just need to figure out the knot on the wrists so it doesnt come loose once I attach the elastic.

    12. DoDs used to have the string tied to the elastic, not looped like Volks, but not that it matters, attachment is attachment. What I used to do was switch the string to a very thin fabric covered wire. With that you basically attached it to the hands, pulled the elastic to the wrist, looped the wire around it, gave it the simplest possible knot and then wrapped the ends around the wire towards the hand. I had photos but I think I've long since removed those, lol. The wire gave the hand a tiny bit more mobility than a regular string did and it was way easier to remove to switch the hands or unstring the arms.

    13. I think I just found an original-faceup Too head in the junk bin at Nagoya Mandarake????
Comparison with Kazu, a modified Tender Too.

      The eyelashes are sitting in a cup of hot water to get de-crunched and de-greased, the eyes were in there with plasticine clay @__@;

    14. It feels surreal to be able to post in this thread. Ever since I joined DoA back in 2004 (!!!) I had been obsessed with getting a Leya. But being a youngin at the time, it never happened, and I moved onto different dolls until DoD closed shop and I accepted my fate.

My husband managed to somehow remember my childhood grail doll and spent months looking for one secondhand until he found one and as a huge surprise to me, gifted me a Leya for Christmas last year!! She admittedly must have been through many owners, the last of which I can only assume used her as a project doll. After a lot of love (and sanding) and a delightful faceup from maiya she's looking lovely. I'm so happy to have this doll in my collection.

She's on a unoa body for now (which miraculously matches pretty well, if a little small haha) until I find the time to give her original body the treatment her face got.

    15. Congratulations!!! You have an amazing husband.
I'm curious to see the details of the body, but (at least in that picture) she looks awesome.
Anyway, Leya is super adorable, enjoy her. :D

    16. What an incredibly sweet story! I'm so happy for you. Your girl is gorgeous :D

    17. @michira awww that's a wonderful story, a real Christmas miracle that your husband made! Your girl is beautiful, and I like her dress very much :D

    18. Hadn't came here in ages to come back and seeing this. Your Leya is absolutely beautiful!

Thank for sharing, it made my day :3nodding:

    19. Reading this thread and seeing all these lovely DOC sculpts again just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside<3
I still have my DOC Petsha elf. Right now she has a temporary faceup as I need to figure out what to do (her last layer of paint is not sealed). Sadly no inspiration has come up, mainly due to her huge eyes are a bit of a pain to paint. They feel too large sometimes and makes her hard to photographe, alot of "dead" angles and makes her look weird. Also, finding a good wig is nearly impossible as most don´t look good on that giant head xD I´ve come to the conclusion that I have to make one for her. Not a problem but my time is limited atm to fidle around with it.

Her resin and body has helded up really really good over the years. No signs of bad resin formular. it´s only the magnets in her head that could be replaced, but they are rectangle and very very difficult to get out. Some serious strong glue was used that´s for sure!
