Dust of Dolls Krot Discussion

I may just crack before March 14th!! If Lillycat's Colline preorder didn't end tomorrow, I would be in real danger of trying to get both her and Arie... So many adorable tinies these days! So much temptation!! ^_^;

 

Hahaha I feel the same! Finally I decided not to get Colline to be able to order Krots. I supose that Lillycat will make future Colline preorders, but maybe in other colors, but as far as I know Dust of Dolls only make one preorder per each headmold.

Oh! So usually they do only one preorder per doll? That's good to know - thanks Yukari! I will have to try and make it happen in that case! I'm sure prices on the secondary market would be too much for me later on. Little Arie... *sigh*

This might be an unpopular thing to say... But, I can't help wondering what she'd look like with slightly wider eyes and little teeth! I might try a mock mod with Photoshop out of curiosity.

 

Yes, since the first preorder (Appi Lünn and Khöl) they told that they will release just one preorder per each mold. So it's better not to miss the opportunity! And yes, secondary market prices are really high for Dust of Dolls creations.

OH! I think that Ärie will look like a little mouse with teeth ^^. Nice idea, cannot wait to see your mockup =).

 

Ahaha i know I should save this money for my trip to Finland but I keep wanting a little Arie so much. I have lots of ideas for her but I sold my pukipuki a while ago because she was just a bit too small. @__@ But I feel like Arie would be so much fun.

Does someone have a Krot beside a pukipuki? I know realpuki are similar but I would like to see with pukipuki specifically.

Although I'm not sure I'd still go with this concept here is a sketch of what I wanted to do with Arie when they first released preview images!

Aww how cute is that! I have been wanting to get tails for mine for ages but there always seems to be something else eating my money or time x.x.

So, my resolve is (obviously) starting to crumble - it's question time now (for those of you who have Krots already!)

Wigs. 3/4 or 4/5? What places do you buy from?

Clothes. Do any clothes for other dolls fit (aka: dresses for latiwhite/pukipuki)?

How is the posing? I know my DoD Khol was difficult to pose. Very slippery. I loved the resin quality but I think she probably needed sueding or wiring. Do you think the same needs to happen with Krot?

 

Pukipuki wigs fit nicely. I only have fake furr wigs for my girls at the time but I have tried some fairyland wigs and they fit just fine.

I have some knitted dresses from maram banu/fairy style (pukipuki size) that are a nice fit. Shoes are big but usable since their feet are so tiny and stocking don't fit. Other than that I'm not sure but I'll try the dresses I made for my girl on pukipuki to see how they fit.

They are incredibly tiny with insanely small joints. I have re-srtinged and hot glue sueded mine (don't recommend that to anyone unless you have the confidence and have restrung tiny dolls before) and it helped soooo much! I used a bit thicker elastic than what mine came with which helped a lot.

I know this sounds weird but to me it seems like their ws resin is more slippery than ns? Doesn't make any sence but so it feels to me. I think that sadly they will be as slippery as appi dolls.

 

I see that Kaede answered all of the questions, so I can only add that I advise to go with 4" as 3-4 can appear too small. I don't have PukiPuki at home but I tried RealPuki wigs (which are 3-4") on my Krot and they are too small.
My Krot Kete is posing very well and doesn't need restringing. But I think she was sueded with hot glue.
As to clothes, I also plan to knit especially for Krot dolls for my Etsy shop and even - if I only succeed - also make shoes

It's true, lots of cute dolls right now. Lillycat's Colline is lovely but for me she is one that I'd love to have but can be happy enough with seeing photos from other owners. Love her blue skin though!

Amal, yay for you possibly getting Ärie, and the changes you are thinking about sound adorable, I'd love to see that mockup!

I have been in this hobby since 2007 and never restrung a doll so far (I know, I know) so I will not attempt to restring and suede little Këte. hoping she won't be too slippery, although I'm usually quite good at posing dolls even if they have slippery joints/resin.

I'm just so excited for my little Këte, and ok, I'll confess here now, I couldn't resist the Plume Blanche clothes, I ordered some two days ago
so I am officially waiting for Këte in white skin with Viridian House faceup, a white alpaca wig and a lovely Plume Blanche outfit, eeeep! ♥
I think it is amazing that these wonderful artists are all collaborating to make this amazing kind of "alchemy"

Now I'm hesitating to buy a second one (Këte or Arie) without faceup .....

 

Bababaloo, if you can afford it I say go for it! If I have understood correctly there won't be another preorder for these faces.

I ordered a Këte, I miss the one I had and sold away when I was in a money pinch.

 

I'm trying to scrape together the funds for a blank Arie - it's just such a happy little doll I can't resist!

edit: just remembered I got paid for a face-up earlier today so I went ahead and ordered my Arie!
