1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ebay recasts: can we report them?

Feb 6, 2014

    1. I think the only time you can really get 'em good is when they don't list it as a counterfeit. Then it's false advertising and ebay will bring in the guns.

    2. This sounds like a good course of action. I believe there are also a few people, who are involved with helping these companies build a lawsuit against some of the recasters. Can anyone confirm that?

I also think that putting something in your signature line against recasting helps make more people aware that this is going on.

    3. I just found out something kind of interesting: apparently, eBay's search engine can find clues for "recast" without needing it to be in the auction title. Search "bjd recast" and see the auctions that don't come up directly, but as "More Items Related To..." I'm a newbie to BJD hobby, but an old hand at navigating eBay, and I hope that this bit of information will help the people who are actively working to get the recasts out of the system. (I'm too inexperienced to know for sure when an auction is for a recast, but I want to do my part to help -- and very glad that all of my dolls are from the real companies and artists. Recasts are terrible!)

    4. I just found a few while looking for doll eyes, one is obviously fake because it's a Minifee Rena. It isn't supposed to be sold blank and naked, and they can't have 14 of it so I reported it.
It was especially odd for one who knows minifees (I have one myself) because they obviously used pictures of three different head molds.

    5. li*********on on eBay is selling Minifee and Iplehouse fakes. Did anyone already report this seller?

    6. Is it ok to link the ebay ad for recast Fairyland pukifees here?

    7. Nope, report it to eBay as being fakes and send the link to Fairyland so they can take the appropriate actions.

    8. Grace at jpopdolls has done a lot of work to help legit companies fight the evil of recasting. I agree, putting something in your signature line will help raise awareness. It's a small thing, but every little bit helps. Maybe it seems an overwhelming problem, but as is said, "evil prevails when good men do nothing." Every time we educate one person, get one auction off Ebay, shut down a recaster, that's one more win for the good guys.

    9. Personally, I file reports with eBay authorities every time I see a recast bad for sale. It falls under counterfeit type of violation.

So the answers is YES, YOU SHOULD REPORT THEM, THEY ARE AGAINS EBAY RULES.

    10. If you accidentally buy one by mistake and you used Paypal you can get your money back much easier. Paypal has cracked down on all bootleggers hardcore. All you'd have to do is submit a photo comparison between a legitimate doll and the bootleg showing the differences and explain in detail what happened. You can do it online but you get service much faster if you call on the phone.

    11. eBay doesn't do anything, unfortunately...you can report it all you want but it seems to go nowhere :T I usually only report the ones that don't clearly state they are recasts because that just seems super shady otherwise...not that buying recasts isn't shady enough.

    12. I just found one while looking for bjd stuff on ebay. I sent a report to ebay but also sent off an email to Iplehouse with their link so hopefully they will be shut down asap.

    13. Does anyone know if eBay seller bjd-fairyland is legit? Their location is China and they sell mostly wigs and eyes (and, randomly, Blythe doll eyechips) but they are selling "practicing makeup doll heads" made of resin for $19 and they have twenty listed. They don't have sculpt names just fairyland03 nake head, fairyland04 nake head, etc.

    14. "Practice head" is generally a red-flag, and while I'm not the best at playing the "what sculpt is this" game, I'm very sure I've seen some of these heads before. Add to that the fact that the heads have several different types of headcap (some with a resin "loop" for the elastic like old CP/Luts heads, others with tabs, others with just magnets). Some are also named with sculpt names ("MIMI DOD nake head," "nana nake head"). They're definitely recasts, and any that can be identified should be reported to the legit company so they can deal with it.

Not to mention, they've jacked the name of a legit company...

EDIT: And it look like they've also jacked photos from legit faceup artists to "show off" the heads. :|

    15. ^ Oh, darn. I haven't bought any resin but I did purchase a wig from that seller just last week. If I'd known they were peddling recasts I would not have supported their shop in any way >__<

    16. I dropped notes on both FairyLand's and Luts's boards with a link to all the "practice heads" they have up there... if anyone else recognizes any sculpts, I think it'd be good to report as many as possible. (I know I've seen some before, but can't quite actually place them.)

It's really unfortunate that a seller would do something like that, but at least now they're known as a seller to avoid.

    17. I have reported recast dolls on Ebay to Iplehouse and it had been removed from Ebay, simply copy the link and send it to the BJD company informing them the case, i don't know about other companies how they react to that, but defintly Iplehouse are active to protect thier work

    18. Oh right, thanks very much for the info. I was searching "used bjd" on eBay and up they all popped. They have such a high feedback count, mostly positive. I was looking through it and it wasn't until page 4 or 5 that someone left a neg that they received a recast.

    19. Hopefully this thread is in the right place. If not, hopefully the mods will move it.

So I was buying some tiny food props for my dolls on Ebay when I ran across several different sellers hocking recasts. They were using company photos but are selling dolls like Iplehouse JIDs, Minifees and Unoa Lusis for around $142. There's an alarming amount of positive feedback for some of these sellers, but it's obvious with their description that they're fakes. I'm not sure if I should link the pages here or post their usernames, but I thought I should give everyone a heads up.

    20. When it comes to buying dolls I can never trust ebay. It's for reasons like this that I can't. It's scary to buy a doll just to find out its a recast. I feel bad for the people that get scammed by these people.
