1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

eBay seller davidw3551 / "Antina's Doll Supply"

Apr 11, 2009

    1. Just did a little searching and while I can find many folks discussing this vendor in comments, there doesn't seem to be a proper review thread anywhere I can find -- if I missed something, mods please feel free to move this!

What did you order? A bunch of small items -- restringing tools, a 5" wig, some hosiery and multiple pairs of clearance-priced acrylic eyes in a variety of sizes and colors.

      When did you order? 4/6/09

Did you order directly from the company, or through a distributor or dealer?
Directly from the company via eBay: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Antinas-Doll-Supply I think they're mostly a distributor rather than a manufacturer, some items in their store are described as being "made especially for Antina's", but everything is packaged and labelled under their brand name, they're not selling dolls or accessories made by the usual ABJD companies. (Most of their stock seems to be focused on supplies for Western-type dolls like Ginny, American Girl, Madame Alexander, classic porcelain dolls, and so forth; but they stock lots of accessories and small parts that are also perfectly compatible for BJD use.)

      How was the communication?
Excellent. Prompt, polite and friendly, and very helpful. They were very careful to ask and make sure they had all of my color choices for the eyes and wig. I actually made an error in one of the items I purchases -- I misread the listing and bid on a wig I wanted in black, that they clearly stated was only available in blonde and auburn. Even though this error was entirely my fault, they were super-nice about it and helpfully suggested alternate styles in the color and length I wanted. They also sent mail confirming when my package actually shipped, which is always nice.

How easy was it to pay?
Paypal through eBay, easy as pie.

How long did it take to ship?
They shipped the day after I placed my order, and I got the package three days later -- perfectly acceptable for First Class mail going cross-country.Shipping/handling charges were a bit higher than the actual postage paid, but not unreasonable considering the care, effort, and material cost in packaging: the items were all very carefully padded with tissue and securely taped into a small, sturdy box.

Was the quality appropriate for the price, in your opinion?
Absolutely -- these were all very inexpensive items, and while I'm sure some of the priciest wigs and eyes out there are much nicer, considering the very low cost these were all more than adequate quality for the money. At these low prices, the eyes and wigs are especially great for folks who would like to experiment with modifying such items without the fear of potentially ruining something costly.

Did the item look like the sales pictures? Yes. The ultra-cheap eyes in particular look even nicer than the photo -- no one is going to mistake them for handmade glass, but for a dollar a pair they're really surprisingly nice, more than adequate for use as hands-on size/color testers!

Were you satisfied with the product?
      Yes.

If you weren't satisfied, how did the company solve your problem?
      N/A

Would you order from this company again?
I would, and already have! :sweat I just placed a followup order for a few more sizes and colors of the clearance eyes -- it's hard to argue with a full set of eyes in graduated sizes from 8mm to 26mm, all for less than the cost of ONE higher-end glass eye!I don't expect any of those will be "permanent" eyes for me, but at that price range I can afford to justify having a full set of testers for hands-on experimentation with size and color combos.

Would you buy this company's products second-hand?
Yes, although many of their items are sufficiently inexpensive that it honestly might not cost much more to buy new directly from them...
