1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Elfdoll 14cm TinyDoll discussion Part 4

Sep 26, 2011

    1. Banji was close, though she was a little taller and not as mature, but she also fit with 1/12 scale dollhouse furniture. She's second from the left in this picture. I believe she's still available from Dollmore.

    2. Oh yes! I had one back in the day and I was thinking about them again recently! The proportions are definitely a bit different but I like that Dollmore sells the heads separately too!

    3. I agree, but you've just updated me, and I need to go see these :D :D :D Thanks :D

    4. Yes, I love my Banji's All my poor tinies have ratty hair now and I need to get new wigs :( Any hints on where to find good wigs now a days?

    5. It's hard now! Rubyredgalleria makes some great ones though migjt still be too big for Banji. For my tinies I make their wigs myself. Tashkabears on Etsy also does a lot for Realpuki which might be similar sized?

    6. The wig my Elizabeth is wearing was made by Tinybear back in the day...Dollmore actually sells Banji wigs, she wears a 3" wig, similar to the Elfdolls. Facets also sells size 3 wigs: Size 3

    7. Thanks @clochette I miss tinybear's wigs, they were the best and unfortunately, those are the ones I had and have gotten (I'm embarassed) mites I guess? Because they were all in a makeup case where I kept my tinies, and I left them for a few years, and didn't realize something got to them :( This is why i need to replace so many wigs. Yah, I think the closest is Banji wigs, I'll go see what they have!

    8. I've got Elfdolls Dodo and Kai. I was wondering if anyone could help me with restringing Dodo as her elastic has become very loose?

Because of arthritis in my hands, I'm not good at managing such tiny elastic. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Here are Dodo and Kai in their new Maileg Gingerbread House this Christmas.

    9. Restringing tinies is definitely a challenge in hand coordination! I recently did it for my dream high studio Haru, about the same size, using some jewelry elastic, wire, tweezers, and a lot of cursing haha! Whereabouts are you located?

    10. They were so good! I miss them too. Kemper also had some 2-3 inch wigs, I remember my bong has their Heidi braids wig. Sadly also out of business. I see some Amelia thimble wigs from time to time and they're the same head size apparently? I make my own out of mohair pelts or use glue and mohair locks, but I'm certainly no expert so they sometimes come out wonky

    11. I live in the UK, which is a bit tricky. I have got some of the tools, but I'm afraid I'd lose one of the tiny parts. But then I could probably get things like a big magnifying glass from Hobbycraft <ggg>

What is jewelry elastic? I do restring my SD-size dolls, and I even get my husband to help me. I'm not very good at getting the elastic tension right.

    12. It's clear elastic thread for making jewelry. This is my first time using it and I got it in a hobby store. It's new to me so I don't know how well it'll last or if it'll stretch or break so I'm hesitant to recommend it until I've had this restrung doll a bit longer. The elastic that is coated all seemed too thick for these tiny dolls especially when trying to connect the S hooks on hands and feet!

    13. I have soma 1mm beading eastic that someone recomended on one og the tines thread. I haven't tried it yet.

When working with small parts and setting eyes I like to work in a large box lid or tray that can catch small dropped items.

    14. i think this is the same stuff I'm using but mine is .5 mm? I had a terrifying moment where an S hook flew out of my hand and like ten feet away but thank goodness I found it. It almost makes me want to restring tinies in some sealed chamber that I can stick my hands in haha

    15. @spacemachine @nancy_schroeder_ca thank you, I'll definitely check my local hobbies store and see if they sell that. It's the bit where the tiny parts fly across the room that worries me! I will try using something like a box lid or tray as a workspace.

    17. adorable picture! As a fellow arthritis sufferer, my suggestion is get the kids?? If you got 'em?
That may be what I need to do. I haven't crafted in a looooong time!

Yah, for tiny parts, etc... take precautions, like use a towel under where you are working, a big one, maybe even one under your chair to catch parts and keep them from bouncing?? I just thought of that, and thought I'd mention it :D

I agree with Nancy, I have done this myself a long time ago, and the 1mm elastic is the right stuff :)

    18. Thank you, @IngieBee :) - no kids, I'm afraid, and only one nephew locally.

The idea of putting a towel under the chair is an excellent one - things can disappear into the carpet in my study never to be seen again! :)

When I get back from vacation, I'm going to see if I can get some of the 1mm elastic and have a go, following all your advice. I've got a good daylight lamp. My problem is really with dexterity, but if I work slowly...

Thank you very much for the link! I'm in the UK so will check on our local Amazon first to see if they stock it. They often do.

    19. I've seen the 1mm elastic at JoAnn if you have them, probably hobby lobby and Michael's as well. Good luck with that @glass_mountain !!
