1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Elfdoll Mini LovelyDolls Discussion part 3

Jul 23, 2015

    1. Twiggy was released as both a limited and a basic, I think... The limited came out in May 2009, maybe? I found this old review, if that helps: Elfdoll Lovely Twiggy Yumi

Edit to add: My own personal wayback machine isn't working so well these days  but I think what made her "Twiggy", rather than just regular Yumi, was the realskin color.

    2. now I'm getting confused. which girl came with the pink dress? that's the one I have. extra fist hands, Dami faceplate. her owner said she was limited. but weren't they all?

    3. The pink dress was Amy, I believe. I think Twiggy was Hommei skin, but it has been a while. Twiggy was a special for US retailers.

Here's the release thread on DOA but unfortunately the picture links are broken. Real skin is ,mentioned but not official info. There were two editions. the first was 40 dolls and the second only 30.

    4. so my doll is coming with that pink dress......I have glasses so I can't tell but it looks like it says Twiggy Yumi/default on it? maybe?

    5. the card, the box, nothing says anything about which release she is. her owner said she bought her through a US dealer
there were two releases of Twiggy Yumi, one with a pink dress and one with green. I think one was realskin and one homme. ?
I think mine is realskin. it's such a pretty color.

yes, that's my girl. with the godawful pink dress. lol.

I just took the dress out of the box and it does say "Twiggy Yumi - Default Fashion"
no one actually took it out of the wrapper I don't think. ;)

    6. well I guess we have Twiggy Yumi then :-)......and we will have a hard hard time finding extra bodies for the additional faceplates! I had a normal skin yumi twice before and she was fairly light toned.

    7. Ok-that is what my doll on layaway looks like. Interesting. When she gets home I'll have to really look her over.

    8. Congratulations oto both of you for finding a Twiggy!

    10. since the pink dress says it's for the default Twiggy Yumi, I'm guessing the green one was for the 2d release
      of 30.
all I'd like is a sleeping faceplate in realskin or homme.

so fun there will be more photos of new Lovelies!

    11. Thank you for posting this link. I found the original Dami and Yumi on the webpage. I was lucky enough to receive the original Yumi as a present from my husband way back when she and Dami were first released. Yumi is dressed in Black and Red, and Dami is all in white. These dolls also had extra feet with molded shoes. Rainman posted a cute photo-story at the time. They were twins, who had lost their mother, and didn't get along. Yumi destroyed her sister's teddy bear with scissors. Dami's skin color was listed as "normal," and Yumi was "white." Dami had two faceplates - open eyed and sleeping. Yumi had open eyed and half closed eyes. I guess I will not be able to find the sleeping faceplate for my white skinned Yumi. I have 3 faceplates for her: Open eyed, Half closed, and Sullen, which I was able to buy in white skin right before Elfdoll closed their site.

    12. @Lizzy1912 I'd forgotten about that photo story. Rainman had such a fun sense of humor!

    13. Yes, he did. I miss reading those and his "making stories" too.

    14. Yes, I loved those. Maybe he'll start making BJDs again someday. I haven't given up hope.

    15. I hope he does.....the dolls were beautiful

    16. Agreed! I would fully support that! We can always hope!!

    17. @Lizzy1912 - oh, I remember that story. how lucky to have the dolls with extras. Nice hubby, too.

I was a member on the Elfdoll site, but haven't had any notice from Rainman about anything in years.

it's interesting how artists, just like collectors, drop out and back into the hobby. Bimong bringing out new girls as an example.

all so fun and expensive. :kitty2

    18. At least we know Rainman and DK are still out there, active in the action figure field. Rainman still apparently sends out notices to his action figure subscribers (one of my friends is on that list).
