1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Elfdoll NEW BODY? Does anyone know about this?

Jun 18, 2009

    1. I can't really tell if the Elfdoll boys have a new sculpt, only that they have magnetic hands. The last change that the boy bodies had before the magnetic hands was the double jointed elbows that was first seen on Vampire Red Special and subsequently became a standard feature for all boys released after him. I'm hoping that the new boy bodies come with double jointed knees.
Can anyone tell what is new with the boy bodies from the pictures?

    2. Apparently NOBODY is dealing with Elfdoll any more. They unceremoniously posted that they were no longer working with distributors, and THEN called all of the dealers. Former dealers, now, I guess. :(

I find that... well, sad is the most pleasant thing I can think of to say. Because I love Elfdolls. :(

    3. From the new pictures it looks like they did away with double jointed elbows and went back to the old ones from the V.2 boy body. That's disturbing.

Yes Ms. Cholong was bilingual and was invaluable as a go-between for Elfdoll and the American dealers. Oh well, it's history now.

    4. It's a little disheartening, since they do so many rather small editions -- and don't take layaway on their main site.

The special 'dealer edition' dolls they had been doing as collaborations with various dealers around the world were really spectacular, too. I would have loved to have bought the Vivien from DenverDoll if I had had the funds to do so. The elf editions they've done with other dealers are also really wonderful, and I had hoped to see another like them some time around the holidays this year.

Maybe we'll be very lucky and they will still be willing to do special editions for dealers again in the future. If the dealers have to buy them wholesale outright in a batch, that might be prohibitive, though.

I know I bought my Bambu through DenverDoll since they allowed layaway; I couldn't have bought her at all otherwise. By the same token, I can respect that they want to no longer do wholesale and sell direct at slightly lower prices.

    5. I've wanted a Lydia for forever but they don't offer layaway?? >__<;;;;

    6. Oh my, no more Dealers? I'm so glad I bought my Tasha from DDE when I did :o

Edit: Speaking of Tasha, I just noticed her standard release. She looks so sweet in the default faceup, completely different to the special edition, I almost didnt recognise her :o

    7. Yes, I know:) I received her email a couple of months ago, but I'm in Florida so I can't make the local meets in CA. I enjoyed having Ms. Cholong as an Elfdoll representative and the Elfdoll meet at IDEX was a huge amount of fun. I'm not sure how much traveling she is going to be able to do not being employed by Elfdoll and with the new baby. I also miss having her as a go-between with Elfdoll. She always gave such wonderful help and that I will miss. Already, I have seen that the help from Elfdoll isn't going to be that great, at least with my problem they weren't. I also liked seeing the dolls in person before I decided whether to purchase which is going to be a lot harder now.

I saw last night that she was carrying Leeke and Peaks', but DDE carries them as well. As much as I love working with Ms. Cholong and want to support her, I have to go with the place that allows me to do layaway.

I do love the new face-ups on the Rainys. The body is really detailed. I love it. I'm surprised, though, they don't mention what changes they made to the new/old body on the website.

    8. Oh, standard Vivien, finally! She looks gorgeous.
To me she looks somewhat like a teenage version of PJ Harvey, the way she's portrayed on the site now. I loved her first LE version a lot, but this one even more I think.

    9. I would have no problem with them not working with dealers if they had a layaway programme themselves. It makes things a bit arsy now.

    10. Buying from dealers was more expensive though, and you had to pay shipping. Elfdoll offers free shipping for any doll purchase. That totally evens it out the no layby thing in my opinion.

    11. That's heartbreaking! I wonder why they decided to drop their distributors. I loved seeing all of the Elfdolls and accessories in person at the Artmaze showroom. C'est la vie.

    12. It was on par before on the price, and actually cheaper -- because the 'free shipping on a doll' thing was not, or sure didn't seem to be, the case before. I'm not seeing the free shipping, though, where is that listed? (Tempting... )

The new look for Vivien is such a dead ringer for one of my best friends it gives me the chills. I sent her the image and she said it was the eeriest thing she'd ever seen -- and she's a horror junkie! Oh, if only I could afford to get her one for Xmas... The face is spot on, even the hair in that picture is a dead ringer. Give her little rectangular-framed glasses, dress her in black? *poof* Done.

    13. I didn't know they had free shipping until I ordered my Lydia this January, then I found this afterwards (been free shipping since 2006 apparently):
I don't think Elfdoll does scheduled releases anymore so you can just place the order whenever you have the money instead of having to wait a few months for them to be released again. So I guess that's sort of a layaway since theres really no need to rush to get the funds together and buy the doll immediately.

    14. Yeah, the free shipping thing is a bit hard to find. I'm surprised Elfdoll don't advertise it with big neon signs, it's a pretty good draw card.

One of the US dealers (can't remember which) was definitely charging more than on Elfdoll's site for things like clothes and hands. I remember thinking it was rather unfair. Everyone else was OK. :)

    15. Having layaway was really handy, especially when Elfdoll debuts a Special Edition doll. I think this was the main advantage of dealing with resellers like DDE and Dollpeddlar. No matter how some of us save to be able to afford the Special releases, there are times when there's not enough money to cover the purchase of a Limited Edition doll. I suppose I'll be using the dreaded Mastercard the next time Rainman and Elfdoll surprises us with a must-have Limited doll.

    16. omg! they said they're going to sell heads separately now! I hope that is not rem. heads only ><

    17. I just read the front page of Elfdoll's site. They will also be offering Soah and Ryung Standards again, but in Limited runs as well as Standard Lovely Dolls and a new sculpt of Catsy. No mention of the new girl body or any changes in the standard boy body 9_9

    18. You know maybe if they get enough request they'll start offereing layaway?

    19. Sorry for my newbie question, but I don't get their message...
So if I would want a vivian... I should be a member? But I'm already too late or too early or... help?
