1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Essential BJD kit

    1. Beyond the basics of wig, eyes and an outfit/shoes. My list off the top of my head would be
      -Magic Eraser
      -Face protector
      -Extra strings
-Ribbon (Restringing - i find something like a thin but strong string or ribbon is good for narrow bits where metal gets stuck)

Those are just the very basics I would like to have. I have no actual stringing tools at this point myself. I don't do my own face-ups either, I lack any artistic talent or vision really.

    2. The same day I order my doll, I'm ordering his wig, his first outfit-consisting of his shirt, leans, and a Jacket, and his eyes. I'm also planning on going out and getting some ribbon and, ideally, a pair of hemostats for restringing him because the first thing I'm gonna want to do is take him apart. I'm also gonna get some Magic Erasers for cleaning him.

I've pretty much got the supplies I'll need planned out and written down, but I won't need all of it right off seeing as how most of it is faceup supplies, and I'm gonna wait till I get a cheap head to practice on.

    3. so far my list is:

      • pastels
      • paints
      • gloss
      • paint brushes
      • magic eraser
      • non acetone varnish remover
      • MSC
      • doll carrier
      • at least one wig, eyes and clothes/shoes for arrival
      • ribbon for restringing

    4. Well isn't this a nice thread for people who are getting their first doll ^^ These are just some things I think you would need. Even though even I don't have some of these things.

      Must Haves :

      • Eyes
      • Wig
      • Clothes
      • Shoes
      • Eye Putty
      • Extra Elastic
      • Magic Eraser
      • Face Mask
      • Some sort of restringing tool (I use a crocheting needle)
      • Safe place to put them (Box, cabinet, stand, ect)
      • Carrying Case
      If You're Going in Depth:

      • Furnishings (Chair, Bed, Table, Couch, ect)
      • Props (Food, Umbrellas, Jewlery)
And if you're doing face-ups I dunno what you really need for that ^^; Hope this helps.

    5. The last time someone posted on this was some time ago. There have been a lot of new people who have come in since then, so maybe this should be brought up again. There may be new things, ideas now, to be suggested,or maybe not, but a list is always a good place to start. It is a great idea to have a little box of travel and at-home supplies/tools handy.

    6. This list is going to vary depending on what you do in the hobby, for example if you buy default faceups or always commission them, you don't need faceup supplies. But here's my list:

      -wire or ribbon for restringing
      -needlenose pliers
      -extra s-hooks
-place for the doll out of direct sunlight or extreme heat

If you want to do faceups:
