1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever been thankful you didn’t get a doll you really wanted?

    1. This has happened to me multiple times over the years. The first few times it happened I got very frustrated because of not getting the doll but in more recent years as soon as I see my path to get the doll is blocked in complicated ways I give up and I've always come to realise after it was for the best. In most cases either later my taste changed and I was glad I didn't get the doll at the time or I saw things during or after preorder about the company, seller or author that I didn't like and I was glad I was not part of it.
I've not always been saved by this since I bought a couple of dolls I did regret after and I've had problems with one company or another at some point but generally it always works that there seems to be a reason why I'm not supposed to get X doll, so I just go with the flow now.

    2. Yes, there was a doll I very much wanted when I first started in the hobby but I missed the pre-order for… a few years back they opened a new preorder on this doll but I was in-between jobs at that time so couldn’t make that pre-order which I was upst about. But it turned out slightly for the better that I didn’t as people have not received their dolls from that particular pre-order.

    3. I know this is controversial but I personally dislike seam lines very much and not having the option to pay extra to get them sanded put me off of most Korean companies no matter how much I liked the dolls. I would just keep noticing the seam lines ruining the sculpt (I don't see the difference between scratches or cracks and seam lines, visually). I have a pet cat with breathing problems, and not a lot of space to do it myself, so I don't wanna deal with resin dust especially after paying such a hefty sum.
I was really close to getting Korean dolls at some point but I only learned about seam lines later, so I'm happy I did not commit.

EDIT (a year later): Eventually I did get a Souldoll who has seams and... yep, they bother me :sweat It's not as terrible as I thought, but I'm happy I could get my other dolls from Korean companies sanded. Bless Dollstown for making that possible!

    4. I’m almost glad I didn’t get a Cuartosdoll when I initially wanted one. What I wanted was a toy, and would’ve been treated as such. It makes me happy to know I don’t have to feel the guilt of potentially having seriously damaged a rare doll.

    5. I would absolutely that banned company's doll. The design is great but King is …… thankfully I get refunded with paypal and avoid hurting the collaborative artist

    6. Yes and no. I'm thankful I didn't spend the money, but sometimes seeing it later online makes me want it again even though I'm just going to say no again. The reason for the no is because I have enough dolls that are similar to it.

    7. At one point I was just obsessed with Iplehouse Luo and I coveted one madly. Now that doll is listed under $300 used in a few places and I could actually afford to buy him probably. I never thought I'd see him going for anything like that.

Flash forward to now and I'm passing because Luo sometimes reminds me of Brad Pitt and over the years I've come to really dislike the guy. I'm definitely Team Jolie and the last thing I want around is a doll that reminds me of him.

A lot of BJD dolls actually look a lot like certain celebrities. There are certain ones that I'd never buy because I just really don't care for those people much.

Silly reason to not buy a doll probably but that's how I feel...

    8. Just my opinion here, but I think that's actually a really good reason not to buy a doll. If it reminds you of someone you don't like - our dolls are made to be looked at, right? And if every time you look at the doll, it reminds you of unhappy things, well... it's not the doll's fault, but it's a very good reason not to own it.
