It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Ever changed your doll's name/think it's "OK" to?

Oct 10, 2007

    1. Yup changed my ivys name after a year to Dahlia, sits much better with me now:)

    2. :D :D

To give you an idea of how much time I have on my hands at work, I've been planning my own little ceremony!

    3. I'm a bit of name geek, and I LOVE creating names for my characters - and dolls. I hope I don't have to change my dolls names, but maybe someday I'll have to, and I really think that it's ok...

    4. I recently changed my Miyu's name but she's also going through a theme change as well (I am going to do her fantasy based instead of historical based to match Feanor) I am also considering getting her a new head as well.

    5. I'm also a believer that you should change it if the name doesn't fit.
      I had a name picked out for my girl before I got her, but as soon as she arrived I decided that it didn't fit at all. Same with all the other backup names I had thought of. It took me about a week to figure out her real name even though it had been right in front of me the entire time. ^^;

    6. Well, real people can change their names too, so why can't dolls?
I changed my petsha's middle and last name, because I couldn't remember what it was before :sweat

    7. I think changing the name is just fine! My new boy was not very forthcoming about his name until he came. I've named him now, but, in truth, it still doesn't feel right, so it's likely it'll change again if I can't get used to his current one or if he tells me another name.

They grow with us and sometimes they need a name change to reflect that, or sometimes they just aren't forthcoming with their personality for a while.

    8. my two dolls are characters i had in mind for a long time but i feel like, if i'm unsure if it suits the doll and the character, I have to find a new one that is perfect^^

    9. This happened to me! Athene is really based on a character that I've had in my head for a long time, but "Athene" is not the name she had in my head all those years! When I got her, I realized she had a strong personality of her own, and deserved her own name!

    10. I think it's worthwhile to change your doll's name, at least on a trial basis, if you're dissatisfied with the current one. while on the one hand, I think it's perfectly fine to change the name of a doll (or a pet!), I also think that when you're not sure if a name change is what you want, trying on something different will help you make up your mind. I have a friend whose cat was named "shady" for many years. recently, she decided that "mackenzie lee" suited him better...but after trying it out for a while she felt that shady really was the right name, so that now he has the satisfying moniker "shady mackenzie lee." you might find that the same thing happens to you--that another name influences your perception of the name you first gave your doll, or that the doll's original name informs the new name you give him or her.

    11. I think it's totally ok to change a name, no matter how long you've called the doll by it. It should be about how you feel and what you like. If your girl who you've called Phoebe for years decides she's really Princess Consuela Bananahammock, then go with it! ;)

I had a Nana13 named Mina for about three years. Then I got the chance to get a Jun Tachibana, my dream doll. Jun's mold fit Mina's character far better than Nana, considering Nana was like the starter doll when I was just getting into BJDs. But when Jun got here and I started getting used to her, I felt a jumble of names and characters. She's Mina sometimes, but she's also got a lot of an Elven character named Gwenneth in her. She changes her name and personality at a whim and with the clothes she wears, to the point that I'm not always certain who she's going to be. She goes by Sayuri now, a name she took from her favorite geisha story. You see, she's an actress, or an artist of deception. :)

    12. Name changes can be a good thing! I say, go ahead and change his name. If you're still uneasy about how people would feel, you could always say "It's a middle name..." and that you switched to calling him that. I myself have changed my name a few times (not in the official sense!) and I like it. It's a fun fresh start. please forgive the horrible spelling by the way. lol.

    13. Like most everyone else, I see no problem with changing your doll's name. I've done it several times & I even recycle names if one seems to fit another doll better.

    14. I think it's fine. Find a name you like, if you don't, just change it again. I change my characters names all the time. I love picking out names and stuff, but it's a bit of a trial-and-error process to find the right one.

    15. I havent had to rename a doll yet.

But i could see myself doing that if i finally get the doll and the name just doesnt seem to fit him after hes finally put together xD.

As i like alot of names and tend to pick em before i even have the dolls.. lol.

    16. Eh, I've never given a complete name makeover, but I've certainly edited it. My girl's original name when I got her was aimed at being Lune. Soon after, I didn't like the name. Made me think of 'loon,' or 'loony.' Which is NOT in her personality! So after, I changed it to Luna, which relates to the moon in my mind as opposed to a bird or a silly personality. A tad better! After, I adopted her full name. Luna continues to be her nickname, but her full name is Lunetta Estella Cassiopeia. I don't in any way think it's wrong to change a name, just keep going until you're happy with it!

    17. I changed My girl's name from Clover to Kamari.... Kamari just doesn't feel right at all to say, she doesn't look like a Kamari eiether but I'll get used to it I suppose.... poor girl....

I had to change her name because my mom was making fun of her name, Clover... :'(

    18. I think it's quite weird to change a doll's name. Unless my doll's personality changes, i would not change his name. But, i dont mind changing nicknames.

    19. Clover's your little Feilian, isn't she? I thought it suited her very well :(

    20. Yes, I think it's fine. If the name doesn't "suit" your doll, keep trying untill one does!! My El Adrian was originally supposed to be my character Lucifer, but when he arived, he was most decidedly NOT Lucifer... @__@ It took me months to find a fitting name, but I did eventually! ^__^ It may be confusing for friends and family, but it's very much worth it.
