1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever changed your doll's name/think it's "OK" to?

Oct 10, 2007

    1. Thanks for all the feedback, guys :)

    2. I would feel wrong to change! Of course in the beginning you can change if you tried it out, but if the name is settled it would feel really wierd and wrong to change. I have though named 4 cats and only one i would want to change, and she is 7 years now and i was then a kid, now im adult so :)

    3. With my first doll, I went through ALOT of name changes. It was only when I finally got my second doll and really bonded with him that I realized that alot of my difficulties in finding a name had been because I didn't really bond with that doll in the first place.

Even still, I don't think it would be all that big of a deal to change the name of a doll you've had for a long time and felt very close to. People are always changing and the ideas they have for their doll families are going to reflect that.

    4. Well, we already discussed this a little bit by email, but I'll give my opinion here too. I think it's ok to change it, no matter how much time has passed if you feel that original name really doesn't suit the doll. Maybe it did at first, but it just doesn't anymore. Nothing wrong with that. I mean heck, even some people change their names! So why couldn't you change your doll's? I've done it. I'm still doing it. I've had some of my dolls for nearly a year now and I still haven't decided for sure what I want their names to be! But I'm working on it...

    5. I think that if the name doesn’t fit the doll than it would be bad to not change it. I’ve done this with my pets where I give them a super formal name and end up calling him/her a completely different name because it suited them better.

    6. Just do whatever makes you happy. It really doesn't matter what other people think about what you do with your dolls. They are your doll's and for you to play with. Not for others.

    7. I try to not change my doll's name but sometimes it just can't help because the names I plan for them before arriving, don't suit them. This kind of situation happened many times, for an example; before my MD Mir arrived, I named him Rikiya but...I forgot this name easily and found it was hard to call, so I changed again to Osamu after he arrived. Then...Somehow I didn't like it after he returned from face up aritist because he didn't have any Asian look at all, so had to change the name AGAIN! :o In the end, I settled with "Fayy" and seemed this one would be his last and permanent name from now...

    8. I've just changed my own name by deed poll - so of course I don't see anything wrong with changing my doll's names either, if I want to - Much cheaper than changing my own name too LOL

    9. I think it's fine to change a doll's name, no matter how long you've had it. I had my Soom Chrom for two years and had been calling him William, when I realized I really wanted him to have a Japanese name so I did some research and settled on Haru. His wig an eye color also changed, and I feel like he finally fits his name. I have another doll with a similar situation. Essentially, his character it's the opposite of what I had planned for him once I saw him in person, so I'm not sure if I'll keep his name or not.

    10. There's nothing wrong with changing your doll's name, especially if you plan on changing their appearance to go with it. There's nothing wrong with overhauling your dolls if you're unhappy with the way they look! And, please do remember, they are only dolls, so it's not like they can get mad about the name change or anything like that. ;)
