1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever come to love a mold you once hated?

Oct 24, 2009

    1. Well, I used to really like Soom Obsidius until I owned one, then I disliked his sculpt and I won't say I hated it (since I don't hate any BJD sculpts), but it really put me off and I sold the head. Now I think it was just his default faceup, since I've seen other Obsidius' that I really love.

    2. When I first saw SC Doll's Soil Head I loved it and completely impulse bought it even though there were no owner pictures for it yet. When I finally unboxed it I absolutely hated it. It looked so ugly to me for some reason. I put it back in it's box and forgot about it for a year, only taking it out when I remembered I had it at all, and then remembering how much I hated it. Then about a month ago, in the process of unpacking from a move, I came across it's box and decided to open it again. This time though, I didn't hate it, but was hit with a spark of creativity. I got out it's body and put a wig it and feel in love with it. It's now my favorite doll.

    3. The Pipos Cheshire cats initially creeped me RIGHT out: the super grinning head type especially, though someone pointed out that I smile like that too sometimes and now I kinda want one....(that and I LOVE Cheshires...and Alice in Wonderland related things..)

    4. Nope. But I have come to really dislike sculpts I once liked.

    5. No, this has never really happened to me. I still dislike the sculpts I disliked from the beginning. (This includes pretty much everything from Fairyland). I wouldn't go so far as to say I've ever hated a sculpt, because they all have their own artistry and beauty, and it's really hard for me to hate someone else's creativity. To me, disliking something simply means that it's not to my personal tastes and I think my personal tastes with respect to doll aesthetics haven't really changed that much in the 5 years I've been in the hobby.

    6. I dislike most bjd sculpts since they all look the same to me. There are some I dearly love like fairyland and doll chateau and soon. But. Doll chateau bodies are too thin for my taste
Even though usually the female sculpts are so beautiful in their own light. Especially the Zora and Wanda dolls.
I will also say I'm not a fan of most SD sized dolls and prefer slim minis. Also many slim yosd like resinsoul.

Funny thing is I used to hate dollzone. I felt they looked too similar to doll chateau and it wasn't till later that I fell in love with their new bodies. Still on my hunt for some and have a 46cm zo on hold. Hopefully he will come home soon. I'm also planning on buying some 27cm slim yosd from them.
Dollzone is one company that I can say has come a long way and I think they've capturedy heart. Though I still prefer other heads for my dolls.

I used to also dislike realpuki and still do for the most part but most heads are far too adorable to look past. Except for so so. Still hate that doll. (Even though certain people have made theirs adorable I still dislike that doll.)

    7. When I started looking around for different places to buy dolls I really disliked Luts. I never really looked at their dolls because the one's they show once you open the website were enough for me to know that they aren't my taste. But lately I keep catching myself going to their website to see if they have anything new... so it's not really a doll for me but the whole company

Also, used to dislike Chloe from Fairyland (because she was everywhere) but by now I don't mind seing that cute little face once in a while ^__^

    8. I used to hate all of Doll Chateau's faces, but now i see the appeal in them, especially with custom faceups! I just wish i could see more custom faceups on DC dolls, so many people just get the DC standard faceup.

    9. Wasn't really impressed with IOS Infernale but now, he is one of my grail dolls.

    10. A while back I got Dollzone's Ivy and Iris dolls. When they arrived, I didn't care for either one in person. So I put them both on eBay but after a couple of days, I took another look at Iris and suddenly liked her very much! I quickly took down her listing (luckily no one had bid on her). Now I just love her and have even ordered another one to be her companion. :-)

    11. This happened to me with ResinSoul dolls.

I first saw them a few years ago, and while the price tag certainly was attractive, I didn't like the look of the bodies or the faces very much. But I kept going back to the site over and over, and as time progressed they started to grow on me a little, but not enough where I actually wanted to just up and buy one. When I actually saw one in person, it was this shining, "I HAVE TO HAVE THIS," moment and I pretty much immediately bought one. >_>
