1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever Deliberately Bought a Doll You Didn't Particularly Like? If So, Why?

Feb 4, 2015

    1. I bought a Fairyland Minifee Miyu off the marketplace for her body. To be fair, anytime this particular body popped up it was gone within minutes. Usually, I wouldn't even see the listing before it sold. I didn't want to buy one direct because Fairyland was pretty backed up. It would be 5-6 months before my body shipped and I wanted my doll to be completed asap. I figured I would be safe because I didn't like Miyu and I could sell the heads right after receiving her. But, I was wrong and she was much cuter then anticipated. It's okay because the head the body was intended for didn't match anyway as it was made before Fairyland changed their resin to a pinker tone. The body has since been giving to a different Minifee head until I can get her the hybrid body I want. My poor Miyu must feel unloved but she's a permanent part of my crew and wouldn't sell her for anything.

    2. I see most of the comments on this thread are about buying unwanted heads to get the bodies. I did the opposite--bought a body (from Doll Family A) I wouldn't otherwise have ordered, in order to get an event head that was not offered any other way. I can still use the body but I wouldn't have gotten it just for its own sake. I do love the head though, and if they offer it separately after the event I'm going to be miffed, OR maybe I'll get another one!

    3. Yeah, and I am guilty of that ^^"
Because I held a doll in a meet and suddenly, there's this feeling you wanted to buy right this instant, I saw a seller selling her dolls, one caught my eye because it's a Mirodoll body and pretty sure it's in a neat price :) so I took a plunge and with the help of my parents, bought her. Now I am currently waiting for her and felt guilty because I didn't like her sculpt XD although maybe a little mod could help me grow attached to her. Hopefully :)

    4. I just did it again, maybe. I bought a project doll thinking I'd likely redo her face but then found another head I really liked and bought that. I am thinking I'm going to be swapping bodies and I might just flip the first doll's head after I clean it. I don't know yet. I suppose it will depend upon how well the head looks on the body vs the original head. She is cute in her own right though. Decisions, decisions...
