1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever fallen out of love while waiting?

Jun 3, 2013

    1. This happened to my Soom girls. I ordered a SM Alex, and while I was still paying her off, Soom released the full choice MD event, and I bought an Amber. By the time they all showed up I was so sick of paying off Soom dolls that I wasn't even that excited about them. I hadn't really wanted to get two girls in a row, but I couldn't pass up on getting an Amber. It's been over a year that I've had them and I'm just starting to enjoy them. I guess I needed some time to cool off with the frustration before I could really enjoy them.

    2. Wow, 12 month layaway....... that really is a long wait! Maybe when my collection begins to blossom I will have the patience to wait, if I could find a Bimong agent, I would consider it as I would really love one of his sculpts :)

    3. I normally order directly from a site that has dolls in stock or from the MP so it was never an issue before. Unfortunately, this has happened to me recently and it was the first doll I ever purchased as a pre-order. The stock pictures looked really sweet but after a 3-4 month wait (I know, it's short compared to others), when she finally arrived - she was just there.... the magic from the pictures seemed to have faded away. Her features changed as her faceup did not look like they were hand painted but more like mass produced. She's put away for the moment but I have a feeling she'll be looking to travel soon. I'm hoping I'll change my mind...

    4. Yeah I had a layaway for my first resin and I was just worried I wouldn't bond because I started to feel worried like "Oh my god is that single jointed?" "What if he yellows like a lemon?" I had nightmares about it as well and by the time I looked at his pictures again I was feeling meh...But then I paid off my layaway...And I began to get excited, began to look forward to having him home, I started trying to make him clothing, I now adore him and can't wait to save up for another MSD.

    5. I've definitely fallen out of love while waiting for a doll (a Planetdoll Mini Riz) I'm very picky about my dolls so I tend to have a high turnover rate, usually I know within a few weeks whether or not they'll be staying long term.

    6. Not much, but this happens when i send my doll head to a faceup artist. I had few dolls sold after i sent to the faceup artist and after1~2 months the doll head comes_ no longer desirable like before :( i dont know why... now im doing the faceup myself, and i know its awful but id rather choose this ♥

    7. Well, I think it's pretty much happenening to me now Q~Q I really was INLOVE with dreaming Airi when I first ordered her, but now while im waiting, i'm kinda feeling like " what if shes too normal?" "what if I dont like her when she comes" and looking at other doll sites while waiting isnt helping at all :o

But I really do hope I fall in love with her once again once she arrives soon!

    8. When you buy a doll and you're waiting for it to be made, or doing layaway payments, have you ever fallen out of love with it?
Nope. If I want a doll, I want it. Doesn't matter how long the wait or how much difficulty I have. I try and make sure I really want a doll before buying.

Do you see another doll and wish you'd spent that money on that one instead?

Sometimes this can happen, but as I said, I know I really want a doll before buying, so I don't really fall out of love, even if I see another doll I want.

I don't really have this problem, but if I did, I could always sell the first doll, so it's not a big deal. (But I don't do that because I don't fall out of love with dolls.)

Did that feeling go away once that doll comes home and you love it all over again? Or did you wind up selling that doll right out of the box?

I have had dips in interest while waiting for dolls, if the wait is very long. But once they arrive, I'm just fine.

      I haven't ever sold a doll.

    9. This happened with my first doll. Both falling out of love and wondering if I had picked the right one. I got an Iplehouse JID Tatiana, and about two months into the wait started thinking JID Asa would have been a better choice. I didn't sell her right out of the box, but she went to a new home within a year.

    10. For me, it's not so much falling out of love as getting anxious, LOL. If I'm not the first one to get my order shipped and other people start to take photos of said doll but the pictures are super unflattering (person was just excited to snap a shot, etc), it makes me freak out a bit about my purchase and question the doll in waiting.

I also feel disappointment when others receive their dolls first, post photos, and their doll is painted differently than shown in the company photos such as having several extra eyelashes drawn on versus the promo picture, their face-up scheme looking orange instead of the advertised pinky tone, etc. Those little details like eyelash count being off can really detract from the overall appearance of the doll ordered.

Those two aspects make me really afraid with plenty of second thoughts pertaining to my incoming doll but luckily none have ever resulted in completely falling out of love once the doll arrived. :)

    11. Only happened with one doll so far, she turned out to be much more stocky than I thought she'd be. I still have her though and think she just may need a different wig and eyes...I guess we will see when the changes are made. :)

    12. Ditto that. Hasn't happened so far tho; I fall for the doll, I think about it (as much as I'm able to with my zero patience), I buy it, I wait & worry about this problem ...but then the doll arrives and she/he's gorgeous, and end of story xD

    13. No, thankfully, for the moment, has not happened to me..
but i think that sometimes it can happen..after the first moments of excitement, when you are waiting that your doll arrive, maybe you will find some sculpts that you may have liked more..

    14. I have a really small attention span so if it takes too long I definitely feel like moving on.
I still love them when they get here but it just means i'm already planning my next one

    15. I'm currently doing a 6 month layaway for an Angell Studios doll that I was head over heels for when I put the first payment in. I've mellowed a little, but I'm still really excited for her to arrive. I have about three months left to go (omg! LOL) I'm sure that when she gets here I'll fall in love all over again :)

In the meantime, I'm waiting for a Soom doll, and I just made another 6 month layaway for a Luts doll. Lots of waiting here!!

    16. Yeah kind of. For a long time I really wanted these two Dollmore 16" model heads for my MSD Miro bodies. I still don't like the Miro guy head I have on the male body very much. But to go there it would take me $180 plus shipping just to grab two little heads and as much as I like them there are a lot cheaper heads out there and that's almost the cost of a less expensive big doll that I also covet. I still have not faced up my Miro MSD's and I've had them for a while now. I'm probably going to face up my green girl first and that's not really fair since they've been waiting longer. I'm just not sure about that boy head though. The mini Wind she's cute, but I'm beginning to think maybe I should just look around for a cheap used head that I actually like more and sell the Miro head instead. I'm probably not being fair though. The Miro dolls that I have seen faced up look good. This head could have serious potential for all I know, but at the rate I am going, unless I try, I will never know. At this point I probably won't buy the 16" Dollmore heads. Not unless I suddenly get a windfall from somewhere. They're definitely on the back burner in a big way.

    17. Yes, that is happening right now with one of the dolls I have on layaway... I ordered the Dikadoll Lethe thinking he was going to sell out as soon as I decided that I had to have him, like so many dolls have before him... I am half way through my 6 mo. layaway and now I am kinda whatever about him. I hope that when he gets here that will change but I have seen so much since him that I really wish I hadn't gotten him right now... :(

We will see in another 3 months I guess if I still feel the same way... :)

    18. This hasn't exactly happened to me, since I pick out my dolls based on which character of mine they're going to be, but I have experienced disinterest not long after after getting a doll on the mp. Fortunately for me, everything worked out with a changing of characters, but I am worried it might happen after waiting a few months.

    19. I pretty much go through a period of being unsure every time i buy a doll. The longer the wait the more unsure I feel, mostly because in the mean time I'm still looking at other dolls and wondering if I made the right choice, finding others that maybe I should have spent the money on instead, wondering if the doll will really fit in with the type of collection that I am aiming for. But usually once the doll is here all of that goes away. There is only really one doll that I guess I would say I wasn't that keen on when she arrived and although I still have her she is definitely not one of my favourites and if i were to ever sell any she would be at the top of my list and that is my Impldoll Dorisy. She is a beautiful doll but the whole blue fantasy fish thing doesn't really fit in with the rest of my doll family.

    20. No, this has never happened to me. I've waited up to 6 months one time, and as little as 1 day. It doesn't make a difference to me. When I see a doll, I immediately know if I love it or not. That's why I don't hesitate when I buy them, because if I've gotten to that point, I know they will be a keeper. I am a very patient person most of the time, and time sometimes works differently for me (Due to reasons) so it doesn't always feel to me as if it's been that long. Plus, I have my other dolls to play with while I wait, so it's no problem for me. There is always something to fill my time with.
