1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever had a huge doll "cull".....

Nov 12, 2010

    1. Reading this makes me smile. It all goes around. One person's attempt to downsize, usually means someone will inevitably upsize. In this case though it is genuinely funny I think how many of CS's dolls were reunited at my house. Lots of dolly high-fives going on here behind my back I would imagine... :P

    2. I did sell 3 full dolls and 4 floating heads in a short period of time. I just thought it was such a shame to see some of my dolls/heads sit in their boxes for years without being touched, and I had one "final" doll that I wanted, so it was time to let some things go.

    3. Yes... right after Christmas I sold over half my doll collection! I'm talking upwards 25 dolls and heads combined and I'm still selling things. I'm STILL very much in the BJD hobby. Possibly even more than before. My collection simply got distilled into what was trully important to me characters aside. All of my characters are still as important as they always were... I just didn't feel like I needed their shells anymore, so... yeah. Besides, most of these dolls went to people that really love them now so I'm happy to have made them happy in turn plus I got the funds to pursue some pipe dreams of mine that I had lost sight of while collecting over the years.

    4. Nope. I buy my dolls slowly, at the rate of about one a year, I have been in the hobby for 8 years, and have my eighth doll on layaway. I have never sold one, and very much doubt I ever will.

    5. Yeah, kinda, a couple years ago I had 14 dolls at one time and due to financial reasons I had to sell almost half of them (6 dolls in total). Thankfully I was able to get to a better place in my life money-wise and now have 13 (10 dolls and 3 'pet' dolls) and plan on getting more~<3

    6. I've cycled through a lot of dolls in ten years, but I feel like at most I've looked to re-home maybe 2-3 at a time. This is partly because it takes me too long to get the items together, clean them up, check for flaws, take photos, research prices, etc, so even when I've wanted to be rid of more, I don't always quite make it through the list. I've never really wanted to re-vamp my entire collection so it has never been urgent to reduce dolls for that reason, but when I've felt the need to minimize it has been a really slow process.

    7. I've been meaning to do this but haven't gotten around to it yet, mostly because of time and I'm not in a rush to thin out the herd (or I'm just lazy). A year ago I probably would have said that I can't part with any of the dolls I currently have. And then I took a long hiatus from the hobby and distancing from my dolls has given me a new perspective on my collection. There were a few that I was keeping because of sentimental attachment but now I'm at a point where I can be like, "Nah," and be able to rehome them.
