1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever met a BJD owner in real life?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. I've meet some local for sales, and trades and when I work up the courage I'll probably try to go to a doll meet!

    2. Never but i have joined this local dollfie dream grup on facebook where i get to know a lot of nice people on this hobby

    3. I've met a handful over the years at anime conventions. Some were kind enough to let me play with posing their dolls and holding them! Unfortunately, I never asked for any of their names to keep in touch.

    4. I've met a few I got one of my friends into it. I got her a doll for her b-day. She only has that one though.

    5. Yes! I met someone at my college who is into bjds! We were friends before I found out that they had a bjd, and when they told me they were into them, I was elated :D

    6. I was one of those people who was creeped out by dolls. A few of my friends actually got me into the hobby a few years ago by letting me handle their dolls and see what the fuss was all about. After that I decided to get one of my own secondhand from a DoA member, and now I have a dozen from 1/3 to Pukifee size and a wish list that's a mile long!

    7. I have not met one in my area yet, I'm sure there are a few, and I'd really love to meet people with the same interests ^^

    8. It seems like there are like no doll owners in Tulsa. Which is weird for such a big city but I've looked on DoA on more than one occasion and came up mostly empty handed. I think I saw like one person and didn't think to start up conversation at the time :(.
I see some at the local anime convention but I never hear anything from them on DoA except for that one person.
Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough....

    9. I kind of did. I say "kind of" because they only had a dragon bjd and not a Human doll. So our interests and experiences weren't the same.

    10. I have a friend for some years now, but we live far from each other, so we only get to meet once every 2 years more or less. I had no idea she was into dolls and neither did her. Last year I put my doll's image as a profile pic in whatsapp and she started talking to me: "Don't tell me you like bjds! Why didn't we know before!? Look at mine!" We laughed a lot, and now we can talk about them from time to time, share photos, it's so great to have that in common!

A part from her, I've never met in person any bjd owner (or maybe I have and I don't know)

    11. I've never met a doll owner. I hope I will this December:) I'll go to a big doll show in St.Petersburg.

    12. I once met some bjd owners at the bookstore. They both had their dolls with them and I had a very brief conversation with them, but it was definitely unexpected!

    13. I met other bjd owners at a Japanese festival back when I wasn't interested (I knew about bjds but didn't like them yet). A few years later I also met others at a bjd convention but didn't really make friends like I wanted too. I converted a couple of friends though so hopefully they will get dollies soon. I really do enjoy meeting people that are in the hobby. It makes it more fun.

    14. Yep! My best friend who got me into the hobby! She has some awesome dolls, and she really made me wanna get some myself, it's nice now to be in the hobby with her, because now we have even more stuff we can talk about together and it's really great! I'd love to meet some new people through the hobby too~

    15. After I got my first I met two others. Now one lives in California and the other came to a meetup a couple of weeks ago after being gone for a long time! But I know quite a few due to meets!

    16. yes, i have a friend who own a bjd and she is so kind enough to even let me bring the Doll home *u*

    17. Yes, my business partner is also a BJD owner, and some friends of mine are BJD owners too.

    18. I just had the absolute pleasure in meeting some fellow hobbyists! I make and sell avant-garde & fantasy headdresses on Etsy and sold one to a person in San Francisco. I'm only a short ride over the bay bridge so he and his lovely sister came to my workshop/studio and it was just a flurry of show and tell! It was so great to actually meet someone who didn't think I was a complete weirdo for loving my BJD hobby!

It made me wonder why we don't have many SF Bay Area & East Bay meetups. We should do that!

    19. I met a BJD owner in a craft store! I mentioned the small books I was buying were going to be props for a doll, and she perked up and told me all about her BJDs. :D

It's too bad I don't live anywhere near there, I might have made a friend otherwise.

    20. I don't know anybody that has bjds, but I do have a friend that likes them.
