1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever met a BJD owner in real life?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. I've only met one but we get along great and love each others dolls. Having someone else in the hobby so close makes it a lot more fun :D. Meetups are always great.

    2. No, unfortunately not (that I know of, at least). There are a few people in other online communities that I'm a part of who are in the hobby, and a friend of mine in America collects dolls/models, but not BJDs. I'm hoping to find a meetup in the UK to go to at some stage.

    3. I'm part of a local group and I met them on facebook. Sadly I can't make it to most of the group meet ups I've only been to one so far. Everyone was so nice and their dolls are so lovely.

    4. There was actually a pretty decent sized community around Riverside where I was so I wound up meeting quite a few and some of my best friends are people I met through meet ups.

    5. I met a bjd owner at a convention she had a beautiful Dollie dream. I had never seen a dollfie dream in real life before it was amazing. It was my first time seeing another dollie owner in real life besides meeting up with a friend of mine in California she was amazing and her dolls where beautiful.

    6. I only knew one person, a friend from school who I got into the hobby. We aren't friends anymore though lol. I'm hopefully going to a semi local meet up in august though :) I'm very exited and I really hope I can make some friends.

    7. Not yet. I get my face to "face" interaction at the moment by watching the youtube community. I was close to going to a doll meet but it was never assigned a place or day.. I almost seem to get my sister into it, but then she never speaks of it again.. One day hopefully I meet someone in it!

    8. I go to doll meet a few times but only make 1 or 2 friends whom we chat online about dolls and such. The rest are just people i met during doll meet cos its hard i dunno y! LOL, Most of them seem very reserved and even those i chat regularly with, i gave them my number but they only msg me thru social media. I am hoping to find doll friends who i can chat, talk about alot of other stuffs but so hard but i m still searching. :)

    9. I was lucky enough to meet my only dolly friend through another hobby. She actually got onto me on my business instagram account, asking some questions, after which we both came to the conclusion that we actually live in the same city and both collect dolls! Very cool experience :XD:

    10. I actually suspect my freind my collect them, but we're not close and I don't want to weird her out by asking (>_<)

    11. About a year after I discovered BJD (this was over 10 years ago when I was a wee sass) I went to an anime convention and saw a pretty well known man in the community carrying a doll. She was absolutely beautiful and I was too shy to get very close, but I remember being in absolute childlike awe that someone in Idaho had a real life actual asian ball jointed doll. I remember hovering close a couple time listening to him talk about his troubles finding the right clothing for her.

That was the first and last time I saw his doll, and even though I grew up knowing him pretty well I never talked to him about it. I never knew how to bring it up, and I feel like I heard her ultimately ended up selling it to pay for something a few years later. He's actually still in my outer circle, so now I feel like seeing if he's still collecting!

I know of a few people, friends of friends and what not that might have dolls but I have never seen them. They just interact with a lot of companies and artists.

    12. Haha, not only have I met a BJD owner in real life, we became friends, then dated for five years, and now we're coming up on being married for five years! We initially met at convention meetup because I wanted to check out an F-09 in person. We still have that doll, and lots more besides! The hobby has always been part of our relationship, although of course it's not the most important part. I love going to meetups and getting to spend time with other people in the hobby, it's really fun! We try to go to a meetup at least every other month.

    13. I saw Amare Dolls at a convention, she was so kind and patient with me asking dumb questions about bjds haha. I was so sad I didn't have the funds to purchase the doll she had for sale there

    14. I meet a BJD owner at a retro videogame expo. I don't know if he was there for a meet or not, but he was browsing games with his doll in hand. We exchanged a few words about games, but not on doll. I wasn't interested at the time.

It wasn't until my brother confessed his interest in Dollfie Dreams and Obitsu that I started looking at BJD in a differently. Now I'm waiting on two dollie orders! Hopefully after I recieve mine, my brother will feel a little less anxious and get the doll he's wanted.

    15. I never met another BJD owner personally, unfortunately. But my closest friends like my dolls and always support me. Every time I think about buying one they give their opinions and get anxious with me waiting for it hahaha...at least it's a start right?

I'm not into anime fairs and that stuff anymore, and most of the brazilian doll owners are, I guess. I quited it a long time ago and sometimes I think they have a really closed circle. So it's hard to find something in common to actually go to a forum or a meeting.

    16. Someone who used to be a friend got a doll long before I was able to.
I never knew how to describe the dolls I wanted when I was young, and I met someome years ago who finally gave me the vocabulary to look into the dolls I wanted and get one.
He and I accidentally stumbled upon a meet in a mall once so I met a few others but I never got anyone's info, and I have seen people with resin dolls at anime conventions from time to time.
      That's about it.
Although I live close enough to Resin Rose convention that I will most likely be going to that this year!

    17. I have never been to a BJD meet, nor do I know any other bjd owners. However I am new to the hobby and still hopeful that I can either join or create a meet up, and find friends!

    18. There was a girl in highschool who had a Fairyland tiny that she would occasionally post on instagram but she didn't seem to know much about it or BJDs in general :/

    19. I have an awesome BFF IRL -- we met through work, have a TON in common, OH AND SHE HAS DOLLIES!

I was a fan of BJD aesthetics for years, but she got me onto this site and let me see BJDs in person for the first time.

      I <3 you @silautumn!
