1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever met a BJD owner in real life?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. Yes, only one. In my city there's no one that knows or like dolls or bjds.. so it's pretty hard. Maybe one day I would like to participate to a doll event.. but I don't want to spend too much for the travel or hotel.. I wish to find something in my region.. I met one girl but she is much more little than me that sold me one of her bjds. She lived in another region but for vacation she was going in my city and so I met her. But now she is not fan of bjds anymore but was never so interested in them.. it was more like a collection for curiosity or for the beauty of them..

    2. In January, I met another BJD owner at Magfest ( an anime, gaming and comics con) She was selling things and had her doll dress and seated at her booth. Before that I went to a BJD convention in Seoul, South Korea but I didn't get to chat much because there were so many people but it was fun to see so many hobbyists and crafty people having fun.

    3. When I first got into the hobby I went to several meet-ups in my area. I also managed to convert two of my best friends at the time into BJD owners! Right now my roomie is currently also a BJD owner so I've pretty much have been around and known BJD owners my entire time being in the hobby. :) It's always fun getting together with another BJD owner!

    4. nope, but we have a local community that i'm quite intimidated to participate on, it's just overwhelming on my side

    5. I have a friend since many, many years. We both started to collect dolls and so I already had one BJD friend since I started with bjds. One of my online doll friends lives near me. So we decided to meet some days ago. We brought one of our dolls and were sitting at a cafe with our dolls. It was a very nice day <3
I really like to meet other BJD owners also in real life, but I'm not a big fan of the bigger doll meetings. I prefer to be with one or just a few people for a doll meeting :3nodding:

    6. only once at a anime con, they were all really nice! But I wish that people there were more people I could talk to in real life.
      .

    7. Nope, I haven't met any bjd owners in real life. I guess I haven't really been looking though.

    8. Yes, i’m very lucky. They are my friends ❤️

    9. My friend owns many BJDs and is the one that introduced me to them and this forum. I even went with her to a BJD meetup nearby and that's how I ended up buying eyes for a doll I don't even own yet.
But it's nice to know a BJD owner in real life so you have someone you can talk to about the hobby in person. And be able to gush easier if talking is easier than typing :) And you guys can play with your dolls together.

    10. I have a rather serendipitous story about meeting a BJD owner IRL. On the day Simone was out for delivery, my mom offered to take me to Target. I love Target, so I asked my dad to make sure he didn't leave the house while we were gone so he could sign for her if she arrived.

When we got to Target I went to the makeup isle to look for a new eyeshadow primer I'd been wanting to try. The girl stocking in the makeup isle had a really cool gothic look (I was surprised it was allowed at work, apparently Target is chill like that). I complimented her on her makeup and we started idly chatting about makeup.

During the conversation, I got a text from USPS that Simone had been delivered. I couldn't help but let out a squeal. The girl asked why I was squealing. I said that my doll had been delivered. I regretted that after I said it, I didn't want to seem like a weird adult that still squeals over dolls in front of someone I just met. She asked me what kind of doll. I said BJD, thinking she wouldn't know what that is. She said that she has several BJDs!! She showed me a few photos of them on Flickr. They were all super cool.

She does all her own faceups and makes all their clothes herself. She's super multitalented. We added each other on facebook and started chatting. Turns out we have other things in common then just dolls. I haven't talked with her in a while, I'm actually really really bad at keeping conversations going and remembering to reply to texts and instant messages. But I really should message her again and see if she still wants to talk, it'd be totally awesome to hang out IRL with her again.

    11. I wish!!!! I went to a convention last weekend and missed my chance to go to the meetup!!! However I did see a few people carrying around their dolls and I was sooo tempted to talk to them, but they all were in a rush trying to get somewhere >n<

    12. In my city there are only three people who have BJD. Sometimes we meet each other but these meetings are very rare. I would like to meet more often.

    13. My best friend has a bjd , when she told me that I got so happy, I didn't know she that she likes ball jointed dolls as well.

    14. No, I'm the only one - spreading the information about those creatures :) All of my friends were surprised to find out from me that there are such a things as BJD.

    15. I get to meet them during doll meetups. Usually in large group of people. Like 10-20. Its really nice to meet them personally.
But its kinda hard to arrange the time to arrange the meet ups. People live in different cities, and have activities have to meet in 1 city.

I love doll events though, thats when i meet more people ^^

    16. I've yet to meet any that i know of XD Though I moved to uni last September, and only just found out one of my flat mates loves bjds! Neither of us have any yet though .....

    17. Not that I know of. I hope to since their is a local meet up, but they don't seem to be very active.

    18. I met some doll owners through social media groups. Yesterday was the third meetup we had, and it was the biggest, 12 of them show up. It was a Little bit chaotic, but every fun.

    19. Yes, my best friend irl collects dolls with me!

    20. I have some friends who are BJD owners. They got into this hobby before me but I'm more active than them now.
I still do meet ups other BJD owners in my country because occasionally we have Mini Doll Meets =)

Glad to have a doll community in my country. It's great!
