1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ever met a BJD owner in real life?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. I've met some BJD people in real life. It's pretty interesting to meet people who has the same hobbies :)

    2. I quite literally stumbled into my first meetup by accident, so yes. I walked up to The Doll Market and was wondering "what are all these people doing here?" and then saw that they all had BJDs. It was pretty awesome.

    3. Only once. They were the one who got me into the hobby. But that was a long time ago and I have not met one in person since. I have tried my local pages, looking for people, but all I can find are model enthusiasts and people who want to own BJDs but don't have one. :/ Sad too. I really want Aisling to have a friend.

    4. I met a BJD collector at a convention waaaaay back in 2005, which was about a year after I first discovered the hobby myself. Her dolls were the very first I saw in person, and they really solidified my want to collect some for myself.

    5. I have never met bjd-owners (except special meetings). Seems strange, but no people with doll carrier bags or making photos...

    6. In person, no. Over the net, yes and it's fun.
I plan on moving to a city in the future so maybe I'll go to one of those big doll meets. Or a convention! I'm looking forward to that uvu

    7. My best friend is the reason i'm in the hobby!

    8. I don't have any, have friends from forum but none in real lives.

    9. Yes many times in gathering :) It was such a fun times!

    10. I met some bjds owners during a convention but I do not personally know anyone who share this hobby sadly.

    11. I met several BJD owners at a convention (quite often actually) and also at a meetup :)

    12. I've met several, mostly at comic conventions. I brought one of my dolls to several conventions (I had an artist table) and I had several people mention to me that they also had dolls. :)

    13. Well I was on facebook looking at photos.... I see a random doll. Come to find out one of my friends on facebook also collects! Although Im to scared to talk to her and do doll meets with her.... I'm very shy..

    14. I met three BJD owners while in college. Two of them were even trying to get a doll club/meet set up on campus. I learned a lot about BJDs from them, and getting to see some BJDs up close gave me a good idea of what I was getting into.

I'd like to meet even more people in real life that collect or are at least starting out. It would give me the motivation to interact with physical people rather than on the internet XD

    15. I have never met any in real life! I have never been to a convention, and no one i know is into the hobby. Maybe one day i will.

    16. I live to far from Manila where most meets takes place here in the Philippines so I had never attended a meet before. :'( I am the only BJD owner here in my place (They don't even know what a BJD is XD) However, our local community, ManikaManila had been really lovely :D We have a FB group so it's easier for everyone to share doll photos etc.

    17. One of my best friends has had a couple of dolls for a few years now, I finally got one too although only now that I have moved country oops D:

    18. Unfortunately no :crushed and anyone I've tried sharing the hobby with either doesn't get the point or see's the price and think it's crazy.

    19. Yes, my best friend is the reason why I got into this hobby. Went to my first meet up during comic-con and got a bunch of useful information about BJD and learned about this forum. All the while went to other meet ups in So. Cal and met a bunch of other people in the hobby. It's great to live near the LA area.

    20. I don't know anyone personally that has one, though a cosplayer whose facebook page I follow got a few of them within the past year.
