1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Ever met a BJD owner in real life?

Jun 17, 2014

    1. When I got my first ever doll they had an event doll that I had no interest in, so my little sister adopted her! She was into dolls enough that I ended up gifting her a Resinsoul as well, and we both talk about sewing and doll plans pretty often. Beyond that, I met a doll owner at a convention when I was new to the hobby who had a Leekeworld Mikhalia with them, and that was really pleasant! I haven't met anybody else in person however, as I haven't attended any local meets yet.

    2. Lucky for me, my best friend is a BJD owner. When I got into them, I sorta disappeared into the void of dollies. So naturally, I talked nonstop about them to her. Finally when I got my first boy, I think she realized how absolutely amazing they are, and she purchased hers. Sweet.

    3. i have met 3 ^^ one is my friends cousin whom i know count as my friend as well ^^ She's the one who introduced me to the hobby and helped me get my first doll ^^
The second one is my best friend whom i may or may not have slowly converted >.> :p lol
AAAAAAAAAND the 3rd is another one whom i not only introduced to the hobby but i also wound up buying her her doll for Christmas >.>
AAAAAAAAAnd me and a friend are conspiring to get another one of our friends who is interested in the hobby a doll so that there will be 3 of us in our group >.>
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAND finally we have one more freind in our group who is really interested and might be getting a doll depending on what resin soul does for their 10 year anniversary event ^^
so i have 3 as of now however come 2017 theres a good chance i'll have 5

    4. i have never actually met any bjd owner at all in real life yet, but maybe one day i might have to check if there's a meet around to be able to talk to others in the hobby and see their dolls in person:3nodding:

    5. Yeah, I met them twice)

    6. I know people who have bjds but I'm not sure if they are resin or vinyl as I've not seen their dolls personally. I do, in general, know many fellow doll collectors.

    7. Yes! My sister :) And through her, I've met a co-collector of my first doll crush, pullips (which later also had BJDs, so if that Counts I've met two!)

    8. Yes, I have met other BJD owners through the local doll community. They're great people, and I -lowkey- wish to be closer to them, but unfortunately I'm rather awkward when it comes to socializing and also rather introverted in a way. Even before I entered our doll community, I met a couple of BJD owners through anime / manga / hobby conventions.

    9. It seems like my local anime convention generally has a panel about BJDs. I think it's mostly been aimed towards beginners, but even if you've been in the hobby for years, it's cool to see so many different sculpts and meet new folks! ^_^

    10. I'm hoping once we move, we'll be in a place that's a little more dollie renowned than the boonies we're in now. The only person I know physically who owns dolls is my wife. XD My elder sister has shown a lot of interest, but I don't think she'd actually ever get one because of their prices. Even all my friends and family on social media seem a little more confused or turned off from BJDs than they are interested.

    11. I've met two, both were owners of CustomHouse dolls. I met one when I sold an unrelated doll item and as she didn't live too far away we arranged to meet up and the other was a friend of my brothers who I met at a music festival! Both times have been lovely and yes, we were all giddy with excitement :D

    12. hugz! first check out the closet doll shows to you then contact the people who put them on and ask if they know of any local bjd groups. I hoe you find a close rl friend who collects them soon. There is a special delight in sharing ideas thoughts and stories about your doll and I hope you are able to see that soon if not already as this is a halla old thread. I have bjd friends but the closet is an hour away and we were suppose to meet for lunch and dinner soon and I have had to put it off. He is mre into the fashion bjds but understands the fantasy and flair concepts I like well.

    13. I haven't met anyone yet, but I wish my doll friend one day will buy a BJD too

    14. Yes, I have two BJD owners in my life. My husband (then boyfriend) was converted into the hobby when he got me my first doll and eventually got his own doll. Then I converted one of my best friends. At the time, the Volks USA store was open, so we met a few doll owners every time we went there. We also went to a few local meet ups, which was nice to see the variety of people into the hobby and all the different types of dolls from different companies out there. I think the most exciting was when we went to our first Volks Dolls Party in Los Angeles last year. That was really fun as you can really sense the camaraderie even with people we've never felt before since we were all there for the love of the hobby and such.

I highly recommend going to local meet-ups, and if there isn't one nearby create one and you'll be surprised how many nearby are into this hobby. :cheer

    15. The first BJD owner I ever met was my best friend in high-school when she introduced me to them. Then she took me to doll meets and got me hooked. My husband finds them fascinating and is thinking about getting into the hobby but he thinks he's not artist enough so I wanna take him to a meet sometime to meet other BJD owners besides me which since I moved I have not met any other BJD Owners.

    16. The very reason that I got interested in these dolls was because I met some collectors to a convention back in 2006. A friend and me got completely taken by surprise when we saw them and ever since then we were both collectors. I know quite a lot of people who collects BJD's so I am quite fortunate.

    17. I have not met any collectors irl, but I know that there are a few collectors near me. I would not mind meeting them.

    18. I have not met any. I am beginning to think there is a secret country somewhere that you have to be invited to. They have a secret hand shake, password and key to get in.

    19. Yes! I meet several BJD owners at a meet earlier this year. It was a lot of fun seeing them and the different dollies the brought with them.
