Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Experiences in buying clothes for your dolls

Mar 27, 2015

    1. I definitely agree that clothes can be very pricey, which is why I knit for my dolls and I sew a tiny bit. However, I am willing to shell out more for handmade clothes because I know the work that goes into them. And sometimes I'm too lazy/busy to do it myself! :XD:

    2. I'm still working on the sewing thing, since I gawk a little at the hefty prices of some outfits. Probably most hesitant about spending lots of money on doll clothes, because I'm always afraid I'll get them and they won't fit, even if it's only by a tiny bit it sucks. >___<

    3. I love shopping for clothes in general. Doll Clothes are often so beautiful! I find it hard sometimes because I do keep my dolls as "kids". I don't have any adult dolls.. so it is often hard to find childlike cool clothes that aren't 150$
I have a favorite person who will make clothes for me. I'm bad at sewing.

    4. I love shopping for my dolls clothes, i'm totally addicted to Etsy & the MP here! Etsy is super addicting.

      sent through the forests

    5. I am not really a fan of shopping for doll clothes. Mostly due to the fact that they have styles that are not very mainstream and because I have a couple If odd sized dolls. It can be very hard to find the right items. So I try to make most of it myself. And I do have a budget when it comes to buying clothes.

    6. for the past 2 days i struggle with finding clothes for DD
even right now i keep searching!!!!
      and none!!!
already went to google for links and so >.<
      such a pain

    7. I love to buy my girls nice clothes. I especially love Volks and Angel Studio sets. Most AS sets come with underwear, socks, hair bow, necklace, and the outfit. Volks sets are so cute - I love for everything to match. I have seen some cheep homemade dresses sell for $50. I have found it's cheaper for me to buy complete outfits.

    8. Buy clothing is the hardest thing for me when it comes to my dolls. I have five Bjd and I'm trying to stop spending money on actual Bjd so I can just buy them clothing. I'm trying to get a little for all of them but man its hard! Sizing, the brand of the doll, and my lack of actual sewing skills is really hindering me.

    9. I still can't get over the price of clothes. I find myself often buying one piece of the outfit, and the shoes, and then making the rest of it myself. Nice balance between homemade and store bought.

    10. One thing about store-bought (full size as well as doll size) - not all of it is really that great quality. I say that as a seamstress & costumer, of course but still, I'm NOT paying beaucoup bucks for a ballgown that is made out of synthetic material w/seams that aren't French seamed & w/unlined jackets etc. Sorry. I use silk, linen, cotten, wool for my dolls. I will hand finish seams when necessary. I can make doll size full jeans w/zippers & real pockets. etc etc etc.
Now there are certainly companies out there (Freedom Teller :D & others) that make high-quality clothing. But there are a lot that people rave about, that I, well, do not....

    11. I just received an order from www.rrabit.com and I'm extremely impressed with the quality and reasonable prices! Everything I bought I was absolutely thrilled with! :D

    12. I wish I could find clothes for my 1/3 size boy that are elegant and stylish (he is a vampire). He has one outfit like that. The only stuff I see online are either too feminine, suitable for a male hooker, or both!

    13. This is why I sew and knit. Bonus--you can get the colors JUST right when you make an outfit yourself! :)

    14. Buying doll clothes is an event for me because I find it hard to justify spending so much on these dolls :P But they make me happy, so I bite the bullet and spend the money to make them look good, though I usually stick to mid-range prices not the expensive stuff.

    15. I was also surprised at the cost of clothing but mostly for basic pieces like jeans. However most items I've seen are hand made. For my girls I figured since I pay top dollar for the doll I might as well have at least one full set of outfits that really brings out their character.. There have been a few full outfits that I've seen and just thought "wow that would be perfect for ___" it's a rare thing since they have specific styles so I'm willing to pay more for a full styled and detailed outfit (like a nice detailed dress + socks + head piece and accesories). But for basic clothes I've just sewn them myself. I like sewing so it works for us.

    16. I end up making most of my doll's clothes because the outfits are out of reach for me. I priced out the cost to buy five pairs of adorable jeans on etsy and it came up to around $169.00 with shipping. So I forced myself to perfect a jeans pattern for each of my dolls and then I made about ten pairs from DZ, Unoa, Doll Leaves and DC kid MSD to Dollstown 13 yo and Dollmore Adam. It was definitely a labor of love and not one I want to repeat any time soon! Sometimes I wish I could just buy clothes for them. But on the other hand, I like to be able to sew what I want.

But from now on I think I'm going to concentrate more on making each outfit super detailed and unique rather than try to clothe each of my dolls. At least they all have at least one pair of jeans.

    17. This is my issue too. My doll is a Drow Mage and I'm finding it just about impossible to find fantasy clothes that I like. I've only had him about a month and a half and already have had an outfit commissioned for him. I don't want to dress him in everyday clothes (sweaters, jeans, t-shirts, etc) because they don't work for his character. Unfortunately for me I don't sew, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to learn or just face the fact that I'll be spending a lot of money for his clothes.

    18. I'm in that camp too :) except that I do mind when the clothes are too expensive but I have no choice...zero sewing skills here so I have to suck it up. XD I just love buying good quality clothes and good quality= expensive most of the time but it is SO worthy when I receive the stuff.

      Elegant and stylish --> SADOL.

Sadol's clothes are top quality and perfect for what you're looking for. I remember seeing beautiful fullsets perfect for vampires or Counts in the past but they got rid of all their old merchandise and they don't have much right now. Still, I recommend you to keep an eye on them because they are always releasing new items (limited most of the time).

    19. I don't find myself too bothered by the price of doll clothing... because I adore owning doll clothing! ♥ I love picking up outfits to admire the small frills, the fine laces, the perfect little gathers, and other details. Those are not aspects that I'm willing to sew myself. There are nicely-made less expensive outfits and there are poorly-made expensive outfits, so I try to keep my eyes and ears open to where I can get the quality I prefer. But if I know I'm going to get excellent quality... then the high(er) price tag doesn't scare me off. Sometimes I wish it would!

    20. My Kid Delf is definitely the cheapest to dress. There are a lot of people on Etsy that make cute slim MSD clothes. But my Leeke Noella still doesn't have her own clothes because mori clothes are crazy expensive. It must be all that fabric! I'd love to get more shoes for all of my dolls, but they're more than the shoes I buy for myself sometimes!
