Face Up: Freckles! Yay or nay? ✦

"little goes a long way" it really depends on the doll and how the freckles are done. I don't currently have a freckled doll, but if I was doing a faceup and it screamed for freckles I would be all for sticking them on my dolls face. Freckles are cute.

 

I think freckles can add some more realistic features and textures to a character, but it really depends. If there are freckles, more natural looking ones look the best to me. I think more fancy or fantasy ones could be added to characters with scales or who have a more galaxy look to reflect the look of stars.

 

I love love love love freckles!! any extra detail in the skin i think is super pretty, veins, freckles, moles, etc!

 

I think freckles are super cute, but I feel like too much can really change the look of a doll. I would probably start off light and add more if it feels right for you. My boy has quite a few beauty marks, I started with just 1 and added as it seemed fit. He ended up with around 5 and a couple very light (barely noticeable) ones. I'm a fan of lighter freckles but it completely depends on if you like bolder looks. I prefer soft and natural looks but I love an occasional full face, bold and colorful or heavily themed faceup.

 

Personally I find the right sculpt makes the freckled look be perfect. But would love to hear other people's opinions. Are they just for redheads? Does tan vs white make a big difference? What about other color resin, like purple or green. Where are the photos of their freckles?

 

I think freckles can be cute (discloser I'm biased because i'm covered in them myself). When I first saw freckles on a doll I didn't like it, but eventually it grew on me. I would like to see a blue skinned doll with purple freckles. I think a Villitunes doll with freckles would make the doll even sweeter looking.

 

I love freckles on dolls. My first doll has freckles (albeit they don't look good because I'm not good at faceups) and yeah she's a redhead, but I think freckles look good on all dolls. Light resin, dark, non natural colors like green... white freckles, colored freckles, different shaped freckles (hearts, stars), etc. I just really love freckles!

 

I also love freckles on dolls! Like.... add freckles to face up, perfect. lol

I mean, like anything else it depends on the look you are going for and how it's executed.
I personally think freckles are lovely.
That doesn't mean I want them on every faceup I do though, hehe.

Yes. My Roux needs a new faceup with freckles of course. I'm afraid I can't make it well... I'm afraid I'll lose her personality.

I love Freckles on dolls, My girl has a face full of freckles ^-^ I love the way they look.
When I get my new boy he will also have freckles .

 

Not sure what to say here. I absolutely love freckles on dolls but unfortunately I can't seem to make them work on my own dollies. It can absolutely make or break a character too. I've removed them on every single one of my characters but everytime I see a person or doll with freckles I fawn over them so hard it's ridiculous.

 

i love freckles, pretty much all of my dolls have at least a few, but i'm working towards getting some of my redheads heavily freckled

 

When I first designed my doll character he had freckles but after many recreations I didn’t include them. Personally I do like freckles but not to exaggerated just soft between nose and cheeks.
Beauty marks are really nice on a doll personality. I love the under lips mole and under eye mole, those are my favorites!

 

Hmm I have a character who's entirely covered in freckles, but it'd be really hard to make her into a bjd ;_;
And yeah beauty marks/moles can be cute, (personally I have a bunch on my body and face), though it'd need a nice body blushing to feel complete and not just random spots on the body.

 

I find it lovely if you want to make your doll more realistic.
However, it depends on the way they are done,
take it for example, if I drew freckles on mine they would probably end up looking like splotches because I don't have the art bug in me.
But, if they are done delicately and nicely, I'm sure they can add to the beauty of the doll.
This is personal though, I understand people who don't want them on their dolls.

 

I think that freckles are adorable, they also add a nice touch especially if you’re going for a semi realistic face up. I couldn’t imagine a face up without it !
