1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Face-up on your First doll; Brave Enough?

Aug 7, 2007

?
  1. Yeah, I would do it.

  2. Nah, i'm too nervous.

  3. I would but I think the default or someone else could do better than anything I could think up.

  4. The Default always looks the best anyway.

    1. Absolutly yes!
In fact, I'm gonna do it! :)

    2. I plan on buying heads seperately to practice doing face-ups in the future.

    3. Oh la la! I got my first set of dolls together and one had the default face-up while the other was blank... I attempted my first face up on the blank doll and I must say for the exception for the eyebrows, it came out rather cool!

    4. I kinda want to as (if I ever actually get a dollfie) the character I wanna do has some pretty specific markings on his face but I'd be scared of messing it up, however since my parents wont let me have one anyway I suppose it doesn't really matter

    5. Definitely not. I could never do a good job on a face up (my painting skills aren't bad, they simply do not exist) and I'd probably mess up so badly I wouldn't want to look at him again. Anyway, it's partly the default face up that made me fall in love with him. However, I will get a pet doll free with my boy and I might consider having a go at a face up on that.

    6. I don't know necessarily that I'd be brave enough it weren't for the fact that I loathe to pay money for something I'm fairly confident I could manage myself. Besides which what I want is so specific that I'd really rather I keep not being able to get it exactly correct than pay for something that probably wouldn't turn out as close as I'd like to what I want.

    7. I would be way too nervous :? to do it myself. Also, my hands shake when I get nervous so it would probably come out like Frankenstein's monster. :ablah:

    8. I did and it turned out better than i thought ^_^

I am going to touch up the eyebrows a bit though lol

    9. I'm gonna do it!

      I'm a painter anyway, so it's just a different canvas. I'm confident!

      probably overconfident....

    10. eheh, I voted for this poll ages ago for "Nah, I'm too nervous". Now I actually have my first doll with a blank head :doh I just ate my own words

    11. XD actually I was brave enough to do it. I had no practice before hand either. I thought it looked good enough the first time buuuut now that I've redone it I think it looks SO much better. Hopefully the third time will be perfect X3

    12. I do all my dolls faceups myself. I prefer it that way because then I get exactly what I want.

    13. Haha I already did a few days ago!

    14. I voted that I would do it on my first one. It takes a lot of falling down to get up again and you've got to start somewhere. I figured if I drew well and already have some painting experience, that carrying it over to a resin mold wouldn't be too difficult at all. It's just the matter of getting the right supplies I think is more difficult.

    15. I would love to do all of my doll's faceups, but I can't as I don't know really how to go about doing them ( the odds and ends of faceups) But I would deffinitley do them if I learned how to :D

    16. First doll? Nu uh. I'm gonna get it all done professionally, because I want him to look really good. I'll probably go out and buy a spare head later to practice on until I feel comfortable with doing face ups on my doll.

    17. Well, I didnt on my first, second...or ninth doll. But, I am hoping to obtain a blank head or 2 to play with.

One of my other ideas is to practise on a cheaper obitsu head

    18. When I started planning on buying a doll, I already desided that I do her face up by myself. (Yes, her, my first doll was meant to be MSD sized girl, buuut it ended up to be a tiny boy. :00 Followed by another tiny boy... Annnnd I still don't have that girl. :'D)

I think that doing face ups is the "thing" for me in dollies. I'm totally not any expert with it, but I like it. My face ups don't looks so good, what they would look if they were done by real artists, but at least I am the only one who I can blame for that.
I kind of feel that the doll isn't mine, if I haven't done the face up by myself.
If I have had ordered my first doll with a face up, I would probably have ended up doing it by myself later anyway.
I'm so curious, and I want to try everything.

    19. Not only would I do it, I have done it :D My first two dolls both got face-ups by me. And they got replacement face-ups at some point too - that's the nice thing, you can always try again later if you want. It only costs you the materials.

I read up a lot of tutorials, made sure I had all my materials on hand and then, at last, I did my first face-up.

      Hold on, I'll show you...

My first face-up on one of my first dolls :D ANYWAY, it was the first. I later went back and painted the lips again later :D

My second face-up was also done on one of my first dolls - Here

    20. I did face-up my first doll, and I had to do it ...My first doll is U-noa boy, there is no face-up option with it.
I tried many times until satisfy me. Now I enjoying face-up my doll:)
