1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Falling in love with a doll and it's unavailability

Jul 9, 2014

    1. My dream is a cygophilia,
regardless dorosea or monosea, I'm crazy about these dolls is not selling internationally.

    2. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people who can related to this thread at some degree.

Recently, I also fail in love with a little dolly too. Even though I told myself I will only work with girls for now, he was soooo cute! >.< It is my first time falling in love with a bjd like this. I thought that he was perfect as is. With the company makeup and clothes. But alas, he is a limited edition, and even if he is available again, he will not be the one I fail for... Not down to the clothing anyway lol

    3. Patience, and a close eye on the MP, will usually net you that "impossible to find" doll. It took me 7 years to get mine, but he finally showed up for a price I could deal with late last year.

Just keep an eye out, and have the money stashed away for when he/she pops up! At some point, even the rarest of dolls will show up eventually. Unless you fall in love with a OOAK super-rare sculpt. But even then, some of those pop up on the MP too.

    4. It's an absolutely ancient Volks limited for me... The original Captain Cecile. He was long, long sold out by the time I joined the hobby, and when Ceciles come up on the secondary market, they're almost always one of the later, scar-faced versions.

I eventually ended up adopting a fellow with a very similar sculpt (Edison, my F-17), but the Captain is still something of an unobtainable dream.

    5. Soom's Afi/Ai sculpt. :pout:

I liked the sculpt when it was first released, and really wanted to buy it, but I had an Amber coming my way so I passed up on them... and it was a mistake. I should have ordered one anyway, because Amber moved on from here about a year later.

I was out of the hobby when it was re-released in an FCE. And whenever there's one on the marketplace, I just don't have the budget for it.

Though at this point, I'm not sure there's a proper place for Afi/Ai in my collection anymore, anyway... I've considered on occasion trading one of my other TGs for an Afi/Ai, but then I look at him again and decide I couldn't let him go, so I think Afi/Ai will never come along. And it's a shame I didn't realize just how much I did love the sculpt until it truly was unavailable.

    6. This is definitely a worry of mine, and is why I try not to look at too many dolls online. I know I'll fall in love with one I can't actually get!

    7. Having started to look at adopting a new doll again, I've found myself coming across this problem now too. )=

    8. When I first started I tried really hard to find the two I wanted to start with, both were beyond unavailable and I couldn't find any of the ones I wanted to. It's okay though, I was able to get my hands on the one not too long ago by pure chance, a Fairyland MNF Rin from the Sheep's story, with the fullset. I still haven't been able to get my hands on the other one however.

    9. Raised as one child in a family with many I am very accustomed to not getting what I want. *shrug* I deal with it by forgetting it and moving along. I'm used to it.
Still, the secondhand market can often turn up strange miracles for people with the patience to save and wait.

    10. I've been able to get the parts of a Soom Cheshire and a body but all I need is his head. It feels like I'll never be able to find his surprise head. If I can't find one on the marketplace, I may end up sculpting a head for him. I'm getting tired of seeing him sitting without a head.

    11. Coming late into this hobby I have found between skin tones and limited release there are quite a few dolls I would love to purchase but have had no luck finding as of yet. I have been keeping the company and sculpt names handy to continue searching for them.

    12. It is crazy that I always fall in love with discontinued sculpts. Luckily for me, I just need the dolls to personify a character so if I find another sculpt that can do just as well, I move on.

    13. I wanted a Serendipity Noel for a long time but I was young and broke, and couldn't get one before the company closed down. I eventually found one second hand on here :)

    14. Well, that's happened so often now! ^^;
It's a pity, sure. But I can always try finding pictures of them. Also I came across some dolls I wanted at meets. So that is a great way to enjoy the doll even if it's not mine. ^^

    15. I recently feel for the Dollzone Olga and Pag and found out they were 2013 limited editions, I only want one of them so collectively they are my grail doll.

    16. I've fallen in love with 3 or 4 limited dolls that were already unavailable when I found them. So far, I've found one, and seen a couple of the others for sale (though I only have so much money right now :doh). I know that if I'm patient, though, they'll all eventually be mine!

    17. I fell in love with Migidoll Miho and is kind of unavailable for me right now. I am saving for a house down payment, and it will be really irresponsible of me adding more dolls to my collection for now. But it is also unavailable because Migidoll only has period sales for some of their dolls, and who knows when they will be selling him again.

    18. I usually only look at dolls that are available, but DDE had some retired dolls posted too, and I fell in love with a doll chateau doll, but I'm going to have to search for her. :(

    19. I've been generally lucky on this part :)
almost every time I fell in love with an unavailable doll, the company did another release of the mold, once even a better version than the one I fell in love with in the first place :)
But at the moment I kinda want to buy the volks dollfie dream of miku hatsune, but I can't afford it ... and those will not be released again... luckily I get over these crushes rather quickly :)

    20. In 2007 when my interests started for BJD I fell in love with a doll man...I only know he was called Lucifer ..but never found HIM again...even I can't remember the company he was made from *sigh*
Now I found a new Lucifer I really adore ..and he is more adult-ish but...it's not the same :/ It's not my first love~
Maybe I will find him again. *sob*
