1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Falling in love with a doll and it's unavailability

Jul 9, 2014

    1. It happens periodically and I usually get over it to some degree, but currently, Ringdoll Jack the Ripper... :...(

    2. I want a Soom SerinRico so bad but on a different body... its unavailability AND no resin matches. RIP why Soom whyy

    3. *Looks violently at Souldoll Souloid Iraki*
He's my grail doll and I want him SO BADLY, so I'm keeping an eye out and stalking eBay and the marketplace (once I can).

    4. I am extremely new to this hobby, and the doll that made me fall in love is the Elfdoll Vivien!
I wanted to go purchase one off of the Artmaze website only to find out the site was down and that they no longer produce the dolls at all. Feeling very hopeless, I decided to try and purchase one secondhand. So far no luck at all (can't find one at all).
But she is my love doll, and hopefully I will own one one day.

    5. If you really feel drawn to the doll, ask the photographer questions about the company and how they purchased the doll. Or look at other pictures of the same sculpt and try to trace it back to the company or the doll.

    6. I have the same problem. I always wished to have Elfdoll Vivien but now its impossible to buy her and second hand market has no offers. I keep on hoping and one day i will get her. i hope lol!

    7. Ahhh this is a big pain to me. I'm pretty picky on sculpts so when I have my eyes on one I'm pretty into it. It's even worst when it's limited and thus I can't buy it anymore. I end up just looking through 2nd hand stores or desperately hope that I end up fallen in love with another that is available.

    8. Im seriously going nuts... I was looking for the perfect face-up artist and on the way I found yukilovecomic aka the voice. Thats when I fell in love with one of her boys. I did look after him a little, but stopped and today I thought of contacting her for a future face-up. Then I looked him up a little more, only to find out it was a limited Luts 2010 summer event head 2. :...( Stupid me, typing 2010 in the search box of the Luts homepage. Well you never know, what you can find.. And he pops up :horror: He is now available as a limited doll until the 8th of January. Now I have 6 days left to decide, if Ill buy him, since I dont know, if there will ever be a chance like this again. And it was not long ago, that Ive ordered another doll...
Im so unlucky, to be THIS lucky...

EDIT: Everytime I think about this boy, I punch myself when nobody is around. That happens quite often. Because after this post was uploaded I had already decided to order him. And I just made a layaway order. I will have to skip lunch for 2 months, but its totally worth it.
      :sweat

    9. It happened to me so many times since I've been into the hobby. As of now, I've been dying to get my hands on a Soom Mecha Angel Saiph head for some time without success... I guess I'll just keep bumping up my thread in the marketplace until my dream comes true!

    10. I fell in love with the Dearmine Evans teaparty sculpt and didn't realise at first that he was like a limited and I probably will never have him. But he is still nice to look at and stuff. Plus I have so many pretty resinsouls anyway. He's a dream I probably won't have and I'm cool with that.

    11. My absolute grail is a 5th Motif Venitu, hopefully someday I'll have him XD he's so big though and I normally don't like dolls that size but he's just so amazing that i dont even care lol

    12. Lucky are the people who have been long enough in the hobby and have unlimited funds to NOT miss all the limited dolls. I know I'm not one of them. :'D I'm just starting out and already despairing over all the adorable fauns I can probably never have. To quote the theme from a teenage favorite show of mine though: "the dream must stay alive".

    13. For a while I couldn't find the name, picture or company of a really cool doll that I saw once. Just recently I found out it is a doll family A Xiangyi. Now I can't find it for sale and I saw it for sale just a few months ago but didn't realize it was the same doll =/ It seemed to just be a matter of bad timing. I really like a lot of that company's sculpts though so there might be something else the company offers that you'll like.

    14. This problem sadly happens to me all the time. Since im in the process of picking my first doll i want to make sure my choice is perfect. I however often find myself falling in love with dolls i cant have !! I usually get over it by moving on and eventually forgetting about it since i dont really have a choice. :daisy

    15. I havent purchased a doll yet, mainly because ive been doing a TON of research on which doll to get first... Looking up brand names and watching DOA galleries, asking owners questions on posing and face ups and this and that and so on...:aninja:
Well. In my research, I found my absolute favorite doll- Puss In Boots(the human version). He was perfect for everything i wanted- a large doll that resembled the characters I'd be using him for(such as cosplay and stuff). He's also got a reasonable price. But... I'm pretty sure he's a limited because he's been sold out for a while...
So heres my question: you find the perfect doll, but its unavailable... Is there any way to get the unavailable doll of your dreams?
(Also, if theres any non-limited doll that looks like him, lemme know!)

    16. You wait until you have Marketplace access here and then, either look for him here on the Marketplace or you post a "Want to buy" thread for him in the Marketplace. I've seen him up for sale on the Marketplace, I think - he's bound to pop up again. You might have to wait for a while but in the end, chances are good you'll get him eventually. Soom's dolls are really popular.

    17. The vast majority of Soom's dolls are limited and only ever released for a single month (with the exception of their few and far between Free Choice events), so yeah, as Khell said, your best chance will be getting him secondhand eventually!

A lot of the dolls I adore are limited (*shakes fist at Soom*) so it's pretty much a constant hunt through the marketplace. DoA as a whole is a great resource so you'll probably find him here sooner or later.

    18. Soom Puss in Boots was my grail boy as well! Like you I also missed his release date... by a couple years. I checked out ebay and BJD selling groups on Facebook that sold only Legit dolls. I eventually found him for sale by someone in England, and immediately jumped on the chance to get him. Even when a doll is soldout on the site, there is always a way to get him later :3nodding: I checked almost everyday looking for him, and honestly it only took about four months to find him. Also, sometimes Soom has "Open Choice Events". I haven't seen his sculpt in one of those for a while but he might come up one of these days. Don't give up on finding him!

    19. That's the story of my life. The dolls I'm in love with now are all limited and are rarely seen on marketplace.
If you keep posting on forums like this your WTB and in Facebook groups or other platforms you should be able to find him eventually. Don't loose hope!

    20. Echoing what others have said, the DoA marketplace would be the first place I would start. It might take awhile, but I've purchased several limited dolls there that were long sold-out. Just be patient and I'm sure you'll find your Puss :)
