Fantasy Doll tiny dolls discussion part 1

Here is a pic of Rio and his pet fox Fennel. The outfit is a modified Dollheart. I added the red pom pom trim and the stripped cuffs. The ruff is lace with white pom poms glued on. I need to make his Jester cap as he hates his hair showing -it's very wild!

I was able to find Kairi a wig that I like at Kemper. It's a light brown Danielle wig. Its long and wavy and looks very girly. The quest for eyes is still continuing though. Once I get home I'm going to put up two of my out of print manga on ebay. I should hopefully be able to get $45-$50 for each of them and about $15 for the two movies I have up. Once they sell some of it will go to my mom and my bank account and the rest will go towards getting all three of my dolls new eyes. One of them will need silicone eyes though due to oddly shaped eye wells. Hopefully I can find them all their perfect eyes and wigs soon

snow072291, thanks for that tip; I found out the measurements for the Angell-Studio outfits, and unfortunately it looks like they'd be much too big. Waist, hips, etc. are often 1-3cm larger, just around all-around OTZ . Oh well. I guess it's back to Plan A XD .

Wow, that default faceup isn't half bad. They're free so I really should have opted for one, but I thought if I didn't my doll would get here faster... well, she's in now, but I can't have her until I go back home for spring break XD . AAAAAGH. I guess I'll have a fun project to sit down for once I get back then.

Wigs seem to be a pain to hunt down, yes OTZ . Size 5/6in, yes? I bought one from Fairyland, and I know Monique http://www.monique.com/wig01.html apparently sells 5/6 size but they only sell natural hair colors and my doll has to have white, pink, or blue hair. For some reason, I was eyeing the Leekeworld D-size wigs, which clearly say 6-6.5in, and I don't remember what I was thinking @_@ . Those won't fit, will they? Darn, and I really liked the crazy amounts of optional hair extensions you could buy. Happy Chamille sometimes does custom color-related stuff, so that might have been a good option for a split wig but it seems like they only have maybe two wigs that go down to 16.5cm-15.5cm. How frustrating!

I really may have to make my own wig(s) for CC eventually >_< . Her white Fairyland one will do for now though; it's super-cute and well-made, so that's good!

I can't wait until I get my hands on CC though. The first thing I'll do is check her feet, and if these Angell-Studio shoes fit (it's only 0.4cm bigger), I'm buying two or three more pairs XD .

I can tell you from personal experience, 6-6.5 wigs defiantly do not fit. Go with 5/6, they fit amazingly.

 

Just for fun I changed out my boy's eyes for some robin egg blue acrylics and I like them much better. They are a size smaller so they have more white showing. Now he has his cuteness back and the wig doesn't look so bad now either. I will have to make him some shoes as the shoes I bought are too loose and out of scale. I have made shoes before, but what a pain! I seem to attract the slim/small dolls that are hard to dress for! So far I have three....

 

I know how you feel with the hard to clothe dolls kurogane, the twins mother is a 5*doll Ji and while she is a slim mini she is a bit curvier than most and has these really awesome athletic legs. She is also pretty tall at 44.5 cms. This makes it really hardbto find pans for her (to the goodwill I guess). Their dad will be near impossible to clothe as he is going to be a soulkid Shaun on the NL body, which is a bit wider than most and also 47cms tall.

On another note I am now on business day 15 of my wait so Kairi should be shipping soon. I'm really excited.

How strange... I always thought that they had 5-6" wig size, too, but when a customer came by to buy a Kemi a while ago, we tried different wigs on her, and all but one of the 5-6" simply wouldn't fit, they were all too tight. Maybe Kemi is an exception in needing a 6-7"?

 

Oh, thank you for the links and info Ayas-Shadow! I see I have options I wasn't aware of before XD . I've been looking at wigs all evening yesterday! The Trix and Pinky wigs seem like they have the best two color options I need (Pastel Blue and Pink) so far.

I know that for Blue Fairy dolls, there are slight differences in the head size. My Jasmine Tiny Fairy can fit both 6/7's and 7/8's well, and one 7/8 in particular was way too big for her. But another person said their doll's head was way too big for any 6/7 and only fit 7/8's. I guess that type of discrepancy is something to watch out for!

snow072291 -I have a 5Star yosd and that was why I was thinking my Glen would be the same size. The Dollheart clothes fit, but the pants are very loose in the waist, thankfully the waist does not show or I would be making pants too! I did an exhaustive search for shoes and found some that might fit. They are for the 12" Kish dolls. The shoe measurements inside are 4.5 cm by 2.2cm. I measured Glen's foot and it is 4cm long by 2cm wide with socks. I hate to buy another pair of shoes for $20+ and have them not fit. But I might if the ones I am trying to make don't turn out!

 

Eeeeeeeee good news! I have the bestest Daddy ever and he dropped off my CC yesterday! She is sooooo cute and delicate! Such tiny little features, and she came in the most marvelous box with eyes and fabritak and EYELASHES =O ! I was not expecting that! I applied some to my mini doll Dawn, and once I get a nice faceup on CC I'll put the rest on her. Unfortunately, I tried giving her a faceup last night and screwed up majorly, so I'll have to redo it in spring break =B .

The PukiFee wig fits her great even without a wig cap, and I quickly cobbled together some supremely badly sewn clothes XD . The Angell-Studio shoes -are- a bit big--too big to be comfortable, at 3.9cm inside, but they manage and they look fine; I hope with socks they'll fit a bit nicer. Other than A-S I know of no other shoes close to CC's 3.5cm foot size, so I might be buying two more pairs from them =S . I wish they sculpted the feet just a couple mms bigger!

I've got a pink and blue wig from Monique on my wishlist now too! Oh, I took a look at Leeke's 5-6 wigs, and if only they also offered them in Peach Pink! That would be so perfect! I don't understand how they choose what colors each wig can be in anyway. It boggles me! Pink Cocktail isn't quite as sugary as I'd like, but maybe it'll work...

Has anybody tried hot glue sueding their doll yet? I plan to when I go home for break, and I hope she'll stand a bit better that way; those knees like to collapse inward easily XD .

I've yet to take a picture of CC, since I have no dedicated camera, but I hope to share one soon! X3

Kairi is supposed to ship either tonight or tomorrow morning. I'm really excited as she will be my first doll who will have clothes, props and a wig before she comes home. It looks like she and Liam will end up being spoiled by both me and my grandmother. Last weekend, when I was visiting her, we went to Pat Catans and they had some of the puzzle erasers for 75 cents each, so I got them each one. Liam got a little helicopter toy with working blades and Kairi got a pet hamster. I might end up getting her different eyes soon though, as I want one of her eyes to be a ice blue (like a husky) and the other to be a light golden brown, the same color eyes as our new cat, cow, has.

Edit: She now also has a pair of 10mm temporary eyes on the way from artistique. If I like the eyes enough the colors might change from the ones listed above to either moss green and grey-blue or to turquoise and light brown instead. Liam also has a pair of eyes coming from them in the same size. His will either be dark green or moss green. I figure she needs smaller eyes than what she will come with and I find it annoying that Liam's eyes never photograph properly so for 4.83 a pair this would be a good way to try out something new.
