Fantasy Doll tiny dolls discussion part 1

Almyki: They're all supposed to be different, thought between Amber, Pamela and Glen, the difference is REALLY subtle. Pamela and Amber have different shaped lips (Amber's are smaller and rounder, whereas Pamela's is wider and narrower), for example, and I could be wrong, but Glen has slightly narrower eyes. Only ever so slight are these difference, but if you compare the stock pictures side by side, you can see it. Having different sexed dolls is only a matter of which body you buy.

My Pepper has a pair of YiJia boots that fit her very nicely.

 

almyki -The dress is so cute, great job! I also really like her split wig -that is something I have not thought of doing!

Thanks for the shoe info. I also found that the Kish 12" doll shoes fit with socks! I got a pair off ebay from Releaserain and they fit perfectly. The pair I got are red with black leopard print, the only ones that would match my outfit (in color). They are not something I would wear personally -that's what dolls are for!

 

Actually Amber and Glen are the exact same mold, they just decided to give the one on the female body a different mold name, I do agree on the differences between Amber and Pamela.

Kairi is here now! Won't be able to get pictures up too soon though. The sculpts are different however, Pamela has smaller eyes and a more serious expression. Her profile is also different. I should be able to get some basic comparison pics up tomorrow night. Tonight is on eof my homework days.

Jessi: No problem. I bought my Glen over two years ago when most hadn't even heard of Fantasy Doll much less bought one so I've been here awhile. And back then there weren't many options so I stared at Glen and Amber for quite some time lol.

Snow: AWESOME! Congrats. Y'all have no idea how nice it is to have this thread active. For a long time it was just me and occasionally kurogane I have a lot of double or even triple posts that are weeks apart from each other a few pages back.

Thanks for the compliments on CC's new dress. She hasn't had a real outfit to wear until I finally finished it, so it's a relief! I loved the flower trim too, but I almost didn't buy it because it wasn't 100% cotton like lolitas are always recommending. But it's such a cute lace, and finding good lace at a scale still good for CC isn't easy, so I went ahead.

Now that I'm sewing her clothes, I feel the pain of people who talk about how hard it is to sew at such a small scale XD . But I'll persevere! And it's teaching me so much for also sewing for my mini doll too.

Yay snow! Glad she made it home!

 

I'll have the pictures up later on tonight. For some reason all of the ones I tried to take yesterday ended up really yellow and blurry. I think part of it might have been Liam's wig being so dark compared to everything else in the picture. He has a new wig that should be delivered today as well as Kairi's odd eye and Cora's wig (hopefully).

 

So, I got my Novus 2 today. Tried it out on a leg piece... and got a very shiny (but still discolored) leg. Sigh. So much for that clever idea. At this point I'm thinking I'll get some extremely fine sandpaper, and sand her all over, to make the "discoloration" her uniform color. But I definitely won't be casting any dark-skinned dolls through Fantasy Doll.

 

Logodae -Rats, I hoped that would work. I know Bobobie/Resinsoul has dark resin colors. I have a light tan with no marks, marbling, or discoloration. I have not heard too many complaints with the darker colors, just a thought.

 

I have a RS dark tan/chocolate colored girl. She has no discolorations, no marbling, and where they and the seems is smooth, and the same as the rest of her. It's a really nice color, too. I'm happy enough with it to be 100% sure about another doll I will be ordering from them in the same color. So...yeah...might be worth looking into?

And...I think my girl has shifted her style on me...not sure yet, though...I need to get her wig back on her, and see how a 'headband' looks on her first. But if she likes it...well...she's going to need a whole new wardrobe sewn up for her! Or bought...but most likely sewn, if I can do it myself! More of a romantic gothic, not quite lolita look. If that makes sense.

 

Well, you'll often see companies just not sanding the seams on their tan dolls, or warning that sanding can cause discoloration. I think the companies that have "sandable" tans are using translucent resin as their base, rather than opaque. There's another casting company I can use that does this, it's just that they have a higher minimum order... so we'll see how things go.

Ayas-Shadow: That sounds neat! Looking forward to seeing pics.

 

OK, I just bought a Charlotte on a boy body to shell a favorite Manga character! I have decided that I'm going to be sticking with Fantasydoll for all of my yosd dolls from now on. I love the smaller size, and especially the price! Not to mention the cute faces. So I have two more characters I would like to do and have the sculpts picked out, I just need to save up for them. I'm going with the pale normal skin as it looks somewhere between white and normal. The dolls themselves are not to expensive, it just starts to add up for wigs, eyes, clothing, shoes, etc!

 

Can't wait to see him Kurogane! What character is he going to be?

Liam's head was sent out for face up yesterday. I've decided that while he and Cora are gone I am going to seal their bodies to make them less shiny.

 

The character is Sen from Kekkaishi. He's not the main character in the series, but the first on my 'character wish list'.

I'll be looking forward to seeing Liam's face up! It will be nice to see something other than the standard company face ups.

 

I really hope Liam's faceup is done soon. I'm going home this Friday and two of my aunts have awesome cameras. I might see if she can send them to mt home address if they get done by Wednesday, that way my Grammie can see them. If the weather holds up I am planning on giving them some body blushing (or attempting to). I really need to finish making their easter outfits though, just in case.
