1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Favorite Doll Company and Why

May 5, 2012

    1. Fairyland bodies are my favorites and they have some gorgeous sculpts. They're also supposed to be amazing posers and I can't wait for the day I can have one myself. I want so many Minifees.
Right behind them are Souldoll (I adore several of the Soul Kid sculpts and the bodies are really cute), Xagadoll (don't like any of the sculpts really, but they have some of my favorite girl bodies), and then Blue Fairy (cute as can be).
I will always pine for a Unoa, though, because her face is cute as can be.

    2. Doll Leaves. I love their sculpts, but haven't gone through them directly. Might next time, if I get another.

    3. Elfdoll. Elfdoll, Elfdoll, Elfdoll. SO much love for their boys, holy toledo. It is so sad that they discontinued them; more people should know the joy of owning an Elfdoll boy. I have never seen another company that has made me want to own ALL THE BOYS like Elfdoll did. (I didn't quite get all of them. But I got three, and that's a majority!) I quite like their ladies as well, but. THE BOYS.

*sigh* Can we possibly crow about our favorite companies without ripping other companies to shreds? Volks' business model/marketing strategy is not stupid, obstructionist, or elitist. It's the way they want to do business, and they've made acquiring their dolls as fair as they possibly can. Just because it isn't ultra-convenient to get the doll you want doesn't automatically mean the company is stupid, obstructionist, or elitist. They're not actively trying to stop you from getting the doll, after all. It's just not as simple as it is with other companies. We should be able to respect the companies we patronize, as well as respecting the doll choices of others. Now can we please move beyond Volks-bashing and get back to the business of squealing happily over dolls? Please?

    4. Dollzone because of the unique sharpness of the facial features and good customer service. :) But Resinsoul are super fast and awesome too, there's just more Dollzone sculpts that I like. Oh, and I don't think it's necessarily wrong to be annoyed at dolls not being easily available. It is actually a pretty stupid way of cutting off a lot of your potential market (not commenting on any specific company here, I've had no bad experiences with a doll company thank goodness!)

    5. This exactly.

Volks is, by far, my favourite company. Customer service, sculpting styles, quality of sculpts and accessories (including clothing), and the community built around it all just blow me away. It may not be the easiest to obtain a rare sculpt, but when you do it's the greatest feeling in the world. Some people may complain about the difficulty of limiteds (and I've been burned, too), but I find the chase to be a valid part of this hobby (and it makes victory taste even sweeter). Volks just has everything I could have wanted in a doll company.

    6. I didn't say it was wrong to be annoyed. I'm not gonna dictate other people's thought processes. I just don't believe that particular wording is accurate -- I won't go into extensive detail why, this isn't the place -- and I really don't believe this particular thread is the venue for it. That's all. I mean, this is 'favorite company and why', not 'favorite company and oh let me tell you how much this other one sucks'. Just out of courtesy, I think it would be nice to see everyone's favorite companies treated with respect here.

At any rate, this is the last I'm going to say on it, because as I said, this isn't the place. :daisy

    7. ...Difficult! I have sculpts from v.small artisty companies mostly but for the larger companies: Aesthetic-wise, Soom - the sculpts are at once realistic and stylised. For body styles/posing ability for now it's Dollzone/Dikadoll... Um yeah I'm not a very loyal customer when it comes to my dolls...

    8. For me it's Dollmore, hands down. It was the first company I ordered from; they had what I wanted, a lot of in-stock items and not sold out all over the place; they had reasonable prices; and their website was easy for a person that was new to the doll hobby to order from. :sweat

    9. Luts. I have over 20 of their dolls, or dolls they sell, with the runner up being Fairyland.

    10. Pipos! I love their dolls, they're well made, cute and creative! I've had great customer service and various interactions with their company (I follow their twitter and they chat with me sometimes :) ) their dolls are also fairly cheap compared to other companies, but in some cases their quality is better than the more expensive companies :) <3

    11. I am now officially adding Soom to my favorites:)

    12. My favorite doll company is Volks. I started with Volks and I believe they have the best resin and I love their sculpts. I do have dolls from Dollfair & Bimong (Narae), Pocket Fairy and Alchemo Lab (Unoa). They are good, but Volks is better.

    13. I love Pipos! I bought my first doll from them, which hooked me on BJDs, and I have bought several more. Their quality is amazing, and the one time I had a problem (my Charlotte's finger got broken during shipping) they corrected the problem right away (sent me 2 hands)!

    14. As a general favorite, Resinsoul. I don't have any yet, but I just love them so much. I have had the chance to meet and handle a resinsoul Ya, and I love the sort of awkward look she has all the time. They're also pretty good at slouching and the hands are SO pretty. I also love how they have all those resin colours to choose from and the hoofed dolls! We need MORE hoofed dolls!

I can see myself owning lots of resinsouls in the future ^-^

    15. Angell Studio

The resin is absolutely AMAZING. I bought my Vera in 2007 and her wrist pin broke. While I was waiting to repair her hand I left it out in my room and my mum, thinking she was helping by putting it somewhere she thought I would see it, put it up on my windowsill. Unfortunately since I don't open my curtains ever due to not wanting to expose the dolls to more sunlight than is necessary I didn't notice the hand was missing for 6 months (it actually took me over 2 years to repair her, eek!) and even despite that it's hardly noticeable at all that the hand has been in pretty much constant, south-facing sunlight for that long! (UK sunlight, but even still!) Even then I suspect that if I took off the sealant it'd be even less noticeable. Not only that but the customer service is absolutely the best I've ever encountered, although that's in my experience. Their reps have really good English and are helpful and polite to a fault. Even though I don't own more than one of their dolls right now (I've owned a Cain, a Gus and a Gavin in the past) I'll definitely buy from them again in the future :)

    16. I really like Dollzone. They've got some really beautiful dolls <3

    17. Iplehouse wants my soul. I swear. Their dolls are so beautiful, and they have a range of physical features instead of all looking Asian. They offer more choices for body types (model vs. muscle for the boys, 3 bust sizes for girls). They offer layaway, AND they send you a free carrying case with your doll! I only have one IH but I plan on getting 2 more.

Island Doll and 5 Star Doll have very reasonable pricing and wonderful dolls for the cost, and are my other favorite brands. I have one and a half 5 Stars and am getting my second Island in July.

    18. Souldoll :aheartbea I really think they make the prettiest boys! If I ever win the lottery I will asap by ALL their boys :mwahaha
I also really love Doll Leaves! ^^

    19. I have a few favourites.

Volks has amazing fullsets, and the quality of their clothing is some of the best out there. I generally just like their aesthetic. The resin is lovely and the dolls have a nice substantial feel to them.

Crobidoll has beautiful sculpts and their default faceups are just stunning. Their wigs are really nice too. I also like the little comics and photostories on their website and the way they give a character to each of their sculpts. Their resin is lovely and toothy.

Doll in Mind has some of the most expressive and unique face sculpts.

Lastly, I love everything about Pluto Doll. Good service, gorgeous packaging, and lovely dolls. The default faceups are very lovely as well. I own half of their sculpts!

    20. YES! As a sculptor, I resent Enku's talent and skills ;). No seriously, those face-sculpts are fantastic and I'd love to own every single one of them.
