1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Favorite Doll Company and Why

May 5, 2012

    1. I've been collecting these dolls for over ten years now, and have always had a wide variety of dolls in my collection. I've never been a "one company" kind of collector.

However, Iplehouse's recent sculpts have really struck a chord with me. Almost every doll they release of late is right up my alley. It's because they're still stylized - they still have that ABJD look - and yet they're also amazingly realistic. It's something that I've been looking for in my doll collection for a long time. Because of this, the heads of a lot of my dolls are now being transitioned over to Iplehouse heads.

I'm still sticking to my self-imposed "only one of each body" rule, though. So I do have a wide variety of body types and styles here, from dozens of different companies, and I love it!

    2. So far, I've ordered from three different companies and I've had good experiences with all three.

Iplehouse is the creator of two of my dolls. I love the realism in their sculpts - sometimes I mistake a stock photo for a human model.

My third doll was from Dream of Doll and they shipped quickly. I haven't really had any customer service issues but speedy service is always good, especially when you're impatient like I am!

I recently ordered from Luts and their customer service has been great so far. I'm eagerly awaiting my first tiny/anthro.

Volks resin alone makes me want to have one of their dolls. I find the company attitude really endearing toward their customers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can find a sculpt of theirs I like enough to bring home - they tend toward more of a "classic" doll aesthetic which isn't matching up with my current collection. I'm more a realistic doll fan. I will keep checking their new releases though, because their work is supurb.

    3. The Companies I like change over time.

Right now, I'm most impressed with

      PIPOS.
I recently got an R. Derek from them and the quality was amazing. No seams. Head-cap fits so that you can barely see where it attaches. The doll came painted and dressed with the eyes set perfectly. The box was lovely. Everything was well-wrapped, but also very neat and nicely presented. Even the shipping carton was a cool color. They shipped with an OK wait time (about a month). The posing was good. Stringing was good. Outfit was fabulous. It was just a great total experience!

      IPLEHOUSE.
They ship with a good wait time (about a month or less)--great for such a big, busy company. The dolls are amazing. No problem with seams. Lovely faceups and blushing (the nipple and hand blushing for, like $5 or 10, is just incredible). Nice boxes and packing. Everything is good.

    4. I've an affinity for Luts, not only because I procured my first BJD from their establishment, but because I believe their dolls are unique, well-made, beautifully sculpted, and versatile. They can portray a variety of ages, and--this is my perspective here--their dolls are excellent for those recently introduced to BJD-dom, and seeking a first doll.
I also am partial to Alchemic Labo (that Unoa Lusis is sexy!!!). They have some awe-inducingly beautiful dollies (Kaninchen: you're not the only incoherent one! XD), and their female bodies are. To. DIE. FOR.
I also like (though have not yet patronized): DollMore (lots o' resin); IpleHouse (unique and diverse dolls); PeaksWoods (friggin' lovely dollies); FairyLand (I love Cerberus Project in general).

    5. My favourite doll company right now is Doll Chateau closely followed by Dollstown.

I love almost every Doll Chateau sculpt, they are so special and my DC yosd are just beautiful.

On the other hand, my favourite sculpts are Cerisedolls and Dust of Dolls, but I don't have any of their dolls home yet...

    6. I appreciate dolls from many companies but I like purchasing Volks. There is a classic doll style that appeals to me as I don't like my dolls to look too realistic (it's that uncanny valley thing). Volks dolls look life like and doll like at the same time. Also, I like their company's attitude toward their fans. They make you feel like a part of Volks and more than just another consumer of their products.:fangirl:

    7. I adore Cerberus Project - specifically, the Delf Line. To me, they epitomise the idea of BJD, and when I think of a doll, that stylized-yet-full-of-life look pops into my head. Their sculpts have so much character and really allow the customizer to create huge personality from the bare resin. I also love Luts, because when I got into the hobby I bought my first Delf from there, and so the company always reminds me of the first time I really discovered ABJDs :D

    8. I have dolls from several companies :D I love my DollZone Mo, my Dollmore girl is beautiful, Loongsoul has excellent quality, I wish Volks were easier to get because my Kenny is great... I'm fond of AngelStudio - have a couple of theirs - & DikaDoll (I'll have 4 when I'm done). I have to say I love Soom - if only the Idealians were more available!
But seeing as I have 3 Iplehouse w/plans to get 7 more, I guess that would answer the question about which company is my fav...

    9. I'm a fairyland girl, I just love how "real" their bodies are. The posing is amazing and the joints are so neat and tidy! The faces are always so beautiful too.

    10. My favorite company is and always will be Shinydoll. :) I absolutely love everything about it. I love the fact that these dolls are just one artist's passion, and I respect the amount of love and work he puts into each and every one. The result is a doll that poses like a dream, looks beautiful and natural while doing so, and immediately commands attention, love, and specific designs. I've had the good fortune to own two of Doi Shin's amazing dolls, and both times they nixed what I'd planned for them upon arriving and basically created their own characters full of life and hidden delight.

    11. I have personally ordered from Dollmore, IpleHouse, Fairyland, and Ringdoll. Of these, my favorite is Dollmore. Whenever I order from them, I get exactly what I expect. They have a huge selection of dolls, clothes, parts, accessories, and even carriers. Their merchandise looks exactly as pictured and the time it takes to receive an order is predictable. The clothes fit the dolls well. The faceup artists are happy to work with you if you have a special request. They always send freebies.

On the other hand, I've had problems with IpleHouse and Ringdoll. (No problems thus far with Fairyland, but their selection of items for sale is miniscule at best.) I got a doll from IpleHouse that looked nothing like he was pictured. I've found their clothes to be ill-fitting to their dolls. Their male dolls, at least, are crap for posing. And Ringdoll does sloppy work. The two dolls I've bought from them have had flaky bits of resin around all the joints. One doll took 9 months to make and ship to me.

    12. I don't own any of their dolls (yet...), but I really love the Elfdoll and Iplehouse girls. Something about them- they look quite realistic, which I like, and I generally find them all gorgeous :D
However, I do have a soft-spot for DollLove, because that's where I LiLi from- my first bjd :)

    13. My favorite "company" is really one person... Shinydoll. I don't currently have any of their dolls (I'm saving up), but when I have ordered from Mr Doi, not only do I get kind personal service, he ships lightning fast.. quite a contrast to most companies where you're waiting weeks or even months for your order to be completed. His dolls are cute, quirky, and completely original. Their posing is among the best in the hobby. I can't wait to order from him again. :-D

    14. I have some I like more than others

Soom- creative and the size, molds and clothes I love

Dollzone- awesome molds with a touch of the bizarre.

Resinsoul- Great resin and bodies for their very affordable prize.

    15. There are quite a few companies I really love, that I'm always looking forward to seeing what they do next. I love Zaoll, Glorydoll, Switch and Ariadoll(when they were still in business)most. Dollstown and Ariadoll are my favorites for bodies, but my all-time favorite is Volks, still. I just love their classic faces, and how they captivate me again and again, and how customizable they are. I think the whole company culture and everything around it is adorable, although I'd love it if they did something in Europe, too! But their facesculpts appeal to me most, which is why I like them best.

    16. Fairyland! :aheartbea I think their dolls are beautiful and the bodies are amazing to pose. I like sculpts from other companies but Fairyland dolls are always top of my wishlist.

    17. Well I have to say Volks first. They were my introduction to the BJD world, and my first doll from them will always be my favorite. I also have three of their dolls, and I don't have three from anyone else.

Second would have to be Limhwa/EOS Doll. While I only have one of their dolls at present, he's the most amazing little thing. These dolls are almost painterly in their sculpting. Ji-Youn Jung is an amazing artist.

    18. Granado is my favorite new company, Elfdoll is my favorite old company. The dolls from both companies have so much life and personality.

    19. For me Iplehouse is the best company of bjd dolls in the world. Price is not low but doll are realistic and big. I save money for my first bjd Carina from Iplehouse and I can't wait for her. But is one problem normal wig 8-9 and shoes from ebay probably are too big or too small for this doll. Head and feet are not dimensional.

    20. I think I'll have to go with Iplehouse.

I absolutely adore their larger dolls and find the realism of them to be my most favorite part. I don't mind the more stylized dolls (I have two myself right now), but the realism moves me the most.
