Feeling bad covering up a gorgeous body?

Feb 1, 2016

    1. Hi all, I was wondering.

Since I recently got my first BJD (Guu Doll Verona) I’ve almost felt kind of bad putting her clothes on, not that she doesn’t look great in them. When I saw her body I absolutely loved it, it is so pretty, I feel like it’s kind of a shame always hiding it, I’ve always loved anatomy. I wouldn’t want to show her off to people naked, but sometimes I just want to appreciate the craftsmanship in all its glory. Is this something you experience?

    2. YES! I always thought I was weird, but apparently I'm not alone.

I've had a few dolls in the past with the most BEAUTIFUL bodies-- & I know I'm going to feel the same way for my next three dolls. In the past, I compromised & put them in outfits that showed off their gorgeous bodies. That way, they're clothed, but you get to enjoy the aesthetic of their bodies.

It's the best of both worlds! : D

    3. Exactly! :) I plan on making an outfit with shorts and a crop top so you can see how good she looks, but staying modest ;)

    4. YES I have this problem basically all the time!! I just end up dressing them in lots of jewellery and tiny freaking revealing clothes. No idea what I'll do when I get my DC boy. Suspect nudity for a while, even. and then crying as I clothe him.

    5. Me too!
I use only underwar for my beautyful woman - she is so pretty when almost naked!:love
And for male bodies I use fitting clothes or take nude pics often :nosebleed:blush

    6. That may be why Kestrel (my EID-) has a wardrobe that's made almost entirely of black leather and slinky cat-suits.

    7. And this is why my 5th Motif hybrid wears a loincloth. Heh heh.

    8. This is also the reason why there are so many photos of my boy Reid (Souldoll Vito Lester) in underwear. ;)

    9. Gosh, I can relate to this! My dollfie dream body is so gorgeous that I always feel bad dressing her up. I ofter just let her stay in underwear on my bedtable.

    10. Uh, my dolls will probably do their fair share of sitting around naked just for that reason. Of course I like them in their outfits too but once in a while I plan on undressing them all and arranging them like they are at a nudist pool party. Why not? They're all gorgeous naked. Okay I suppose I could at least give them underwear but in some cases it's a real shame covering anything up they're so pretty.

    11. I think the big difference between BJD and fashion doll aesthetic is that BJDs are designed to look good naked. Besides, you don't to spend so much money on clothes for them. ;)

    12. Yeah....I guess I'll be in the minority here, but I like clothes. A lot. Dressing them is one of my favorite parts of the hobby. If one of my dolls is sitting around naked it probably has one foot out the door....

    13. I really love clothes, and dressing my girls is one of the best things about the hobby! That said, my minifee has done a lot of sitting around in her undies because her body is so lovely.

    14. Yeah, I have the same problem. They just look so nice! It's even worse if I've put any body blushing or scars or tattoos on my doll. I also really want to show off any nice underwear that my doll has but I also feel a little weird taking pictures of her without a lot of clothes on.

    15. I have wondered about this...the perks of having an inexpensive sculpt is not feeling bad when you cover them up! I love my girl's head sculpt but her body is very plain so I covered it up with pretty clothes. But I don't feel bad in the slightest since there isn't much to see. Once I get my next doll, which will be a nicer sculpt, I plan on keeping him in very little clothing.

    16. Yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong, I like clothes a lot, too - but I find it very difficult to find clothes in the "scene" that I like and find appropriate for my boys, and I'm genuinely incapable of handsewing! So it's like, the fact that they look good partially clothed is also a convenient happenstance for me ;)

    17. Yes. But having the dolls with the bodies of one firm saves from the dilemma. One is beautiful savage, second- civilized man in clothes.

    18. Beautiful bodies play a huge part in whether I want to buy a doll or not, so yes I share the feeling! I feel super bad that my Luts Model Delf girl is supposed to be my mori girl, because I love the details of her body so much! So much that I made her an outfit that is way out of character, but she looks too cute for me to not keep her in it :XD: And I actually discovered I LOVE making doll leggings! So she and my incoming girls are going to get lots of those

Here's her 'default' dress that I also made, which i love on her but I can't see her lovely hips and legs!

    19. I was going to say I don't feel bad, but then I remembered that I do think it's a shame that I can't just leave my dolls undressed. Still, I've found that the appropriate outfit adds to a doll's look, and actually can highlight the craftsmanship and more importantly, allow an outlet for the owners' individual creativity.

    20. I love the perfect proportions ball jointed dolls have, and each one is a true work of art.

I love curvy and realistic looking BJDs, and while I wouldn't mind having my dolls naked, or semi-naked, many family members feel uncomfortable with naked or scantily clad dolls.
