1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Finally happened, after 9 years I decided to buy a new doll...

Dec 31, 2015

    1. Yep, in May of 2007 I got my DOT Camine. Then this week I bought a Wong Dynasty cat and just yesterday I ordered a doll from Dollmore... been almost a decade.

What is the longest time you have waited between dolls?

    2. Well... technically it's not considered a wait but my last doll was in 2008 and then I left the hobby for a few years before getting back recently... and then I proceeded to order 3 dolls this month. So... 7 years? But I waited 5 years between my first and second doll.

    3. Congratulations! How exciting! I'd love to see pictures when they get here. Which Dollmore doll did you get?

It's been 3 years since my last doll. There are plenty on my wish list, but money is a big waiting factor for me. And I like to be able to really appreciate and "play with" the dolls I have before acquiring another.

    4. I waited about 4 years haha i guess it isn't so rare to have long wait times despite how it seems because the forum is so dynamic. Congrats on the new doll. Also it is nice to see how people often return to the hobby after a hiatus

    5. I think it was roughly four years for me. I had a head arrive early 2010, but if the GO runner hasn't been a flake, he would have arrived in late 2009 when he was purchased. I paused on ordering, then took a break, and broke both with a secondhand body (for the aforementioned head, though the head has since been reshelled) in mid-2013, and a full new doll later that year.

    6. 2 1/2 years, and I'm about to take another break from doll buying right now, so I can focus on taking care of the ones I have. I'm up to ten full dolls and I didn't realize it! Half of them are still naked, bald, and blank. So I'm spending my holiday cash on stuff for them. Yay!

    7. I think about 6 months. I'm very active in the hobby, doing doll stuff on a daily basis normally, so I don't think I'd be tempted to take a break. However, I currently own or have on order all the dolls I really want for the next few years, so unless something pops up (totally possible!) I might take a break on buying new ones, but still do all the other hobby stuff.

As bad as it sounds buying new dolls every few weeks for almost 8 years, it's not really that bad. I only have 16 and a head. I buy a lot, but I also sell and trade a lot. So usually, if I want a new one, I'm selling or trading one or two others to get the money and make room. If I didn't, I'd have over 100 dolls by now, and that would be completely overwhelming!

    8. Nine years? You might be the forum-wide winner! :P

I don't think I bought anything from the summer of 2012 until mid to late 2014, so my longest gap would be two and a half years.

    9. Wow, and I thought I'd waited a long time. (And I absolutely refuse to acknowledge that 2007 was 9 years ago. It still seems like 5. :?)

I've been making up for lost time. No new dolls for me since early 2009, and then three new ones since October of 2015. I still need to sell a few of my older ones.

    10. Congrats on diving back into the hobby! I got my first doll in 2011 and then got two floating heads in 2013. I got a body for one head in 2014, and got my second whole doll in 2015. Now that I'm financially settled, I've gotten a couple more dolls on layaway. Not too long of a wait for me, and I don't see any breaks in the future.

    11. I think my break was about two years? I just wasn't in the right place financially, so I stopped buying altogether. I jumped to buy a Pipos lavender Ringo before they discontinued them, though, so I guess I'm back in as of last October.

    12. Maybe, 6 months? Sigh. My poor bank account.

    13. Same here, I've been pretty active in adding to my collection :XD:

    14. I believe it has been three years since I bought my last doll, which I believe is the longest I've gone without buying one. I don't have any specific plans for a new BJD any time soon, so it might be even longer before a new one arrives.

    15. Seems everyone has had a plan, I just kinda bought the new ones on a whim. Really, about 2-3 years ago I got into Monster High dolls and that reminded me about poor Grim [DOT Camine] laying in his box, stored away. So he joined the MH dolls, around that time looked into the resin doll options of the time and just never followed through getting another. But then last month a friend of mine decided to get a couple of bjds which inspired me to get another, but this time a full complete doll. My DOT Camine was quite naked and blank when I got him. I wandered through all the company sites, found a limited one from Dollmore... bought her, couple of days before I had planned, which was good because she sold out a day later. my ramble story.

    16. LOL I got really into Monster High dolls too! I totally ignored my bjd's because of it. I am finally done with MH, I have enough and I love the ones I have I just don't need more on the shelf (nor more in the closet...)

I have a habit of totally forgetting what year I even bought my dolls. But even if a few years passed, it doesn't seem like it, since there were some expensive clothing purchases in between. For me it's more that I ignore the doll community online for large chunks of time. I think I only come by for a few weeks and then disappear for a year again.

I'm totally feeling the excitement of the hobby again. Partially because I had someone help me make some things for my dolls, and they are into the hobby now too, so the fun of interacting with someone in real life got me all revved up again to see what the dolly sites are all up to.

So jealous of your Camine. I hope to get one later this year. If not, then next year for sure!
