1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

First doll w/ or w/o a face-up?

Feb 11, 2011

    1. My first doll was ordered with a faceup, as were the next two because not only did i love the company faceups but they suit the characters of my dolls.

    2. I got my first BJD, and in fact all of them, with face-up on her two heads because I loved how the company made them, but most of the extra heads I bought later for my BJD came without face-up. I hope I may work on them soon. I think it really depends on every owner.

    3. I got my first doll with a face-up, a lot of the reason was because I got him used and got to see the actual doll I was getting, and I really liked the face-up he came with. Originally I was in a big debate whether I wanted the factory face-up or not, I sort of wanted to do my own. However I think it made it easier on me to get one with the face-up for my first doll, that way I didn't have to worry about how I would do it, or when I would have time to work on it.

    4. I got my first doll with a lovely face up done by the company. These days I do my own face ups and order the dolls blank/unpainted, but I'm REALLY glad I ordered my first doll w/ a face up as I was able to see how a 'good/proper' face up is supposed to look :)

    5. I ordered my first doll with default company face-up. They did quite well, I was absolutely satisfied with it. I don't have the skills or equipments to do it, so I prefer pro make-up artists.^^

    6. I did get a faceup, because I didn't(and still don't) feel comfortable with doing a faceup myself, so I may as well pay the extra money to have it done well.

    7. I ordered my first doll with face up, because his face is the reason I fell for him and I want him exactly as he looks on the company pictures. Besides that I'm an artist and sometimes it's nice to just get something beautiful without being the creator of that beauty.

    8. I got my first w/o because I want to paint him. It's about the art for me, so it's more fun to do the parts myself.

    9. i ordered my first with a faceup with the intention of building on it. This didn't entirely work out in my favor, i centered the faceup around her having pink lips but when she arrived in person instead of the bubbly happy pink color it was very beige tinged instead.
I plan to tint them instead now and continue along, her eyes are done at least XD

    10. I got my doll second hand and she was limited so she already had the limited faceup. I'm glad she already had one because then I could play with her right out of the box.

    11. I ordered my first doll with a faceup but it had some flaky issues when he came so i had to send him off to a DOA artist to have it re-done. ^^; The custom faceup was so much nicer that I never bother to order company faceups anymore. c:

    12. I ordered my first doll with face-up, because I'm not patient enough for painting^^
      And I really like the company's face-up.

    13. My first doll came with a face-up, and I'm really glad she did. :) I've started to do my own face-ups now, but I think that being able to revel in the gorgeousness of that first doll the minute I unwrapped her was a special experience.

    14. i always order my doll with face up.. like to draw their faces in the way my mind have created them xD

    15. I think it depends on the person, i got mine with the default face up and didn't like it so much, so i wiped it and sent her to be done because i don't like to do them myself.

    16. My first doll got the 'special treatment'. I got both his default face-up and body blushing. And he's the only one I have with body blushing. To me, I rarely get dolls blank unless I know I have to get a special face-up for them that is custom.

    17. I have yet to buy a doll (I got to find the perfect one first!), but when I do, I'm pretty sure I won't do the face-up myself. I really don't trust my artistic skills, and if I order a blank doll, ey will probably have to sit on a shelf for months and months, waiting for eir face-up, giving me a bad conscience...

    18. My first doll had a default face up.
It is 5 or 6 years ago and I didn`t know, that they are artists who make custom face ups xD

    19. Piper arrived with Ashanti's default make-up

My second doll will be a Cocori head in rose white with no face-up and will be followed by a gentle Cocori in rose-white with no face-up. This is because she's going to be my Storm Hawks OC, the daughter of Stork and Piper and she's going to be sent to a customiser to get Stork's green skin and pointed ears and a custom face-up as well

I think I'll get cheap practise heads (I'm pretty sure I heard of a place that does cheap practise heads for around $20-30) to practise face-ups on rather than risking ruining an expensive doll

    20. My first doll was with a face up. Honestly, I don't really want to do face ups by myself!
