1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

First thing you do with a new doll?

Jul 29, 2013

    1. First time I get a doll, I check that everything is where it should be, if there are any faults, that I may have to talk to the seller about for repair or replacement. After all of that I just look at them and see if he exactly has I imagined for my character, which usually right on the mark, all good and ready to dress. I usually prepared with his clothes(outfit) and accessories. Then I just love to give them a welcome home HUG:hug:

    2. When I get a new doll I spend a couple of hours playing with wigs and clothes....unless I already have a style in mind before it arrives....then they get introduced to their new family :D

    3. When I get a new doll I unwrap it carefully and check all the things that come with it and the general aspect of the doll.
Then I put clothes, wig, etc of the character and I place it with my other dolls to see if they balรณn together.

    4. -I take photographs
-Dress them in the clothes, wig etc I got for them (if I have them)
-Take photographs of them with my other dolls
-Go shopping for anything else they need

    5. I also kiss them on their forhead, and welcome her home. But first I clean my hands good, before touching her, and then carefully dress her up, trying out some different outfits and wigs. I place her on a stand, and gently place her in my glass display, where I take some pictures of her, and post on my doll collection albums on facebook. Like Juah in my profile picture

    6. I usually pop in some spare eyes, put them in some spare clothes and a spare wig so they don't look so naked, haha

    7. First thing I do is a little victory dance after making sure everything is in order, then I spend the next few hours after that straightening out my doll plans.

    8. When I get a new doll I start by checking that everything is as it should be. If everything is as it should be then I get them their clothes, wigs and eyes (if they have arrived before the doll) if not then I dress them in some spare clothes I have laying around alongside a spare wig and eyes before I start taking pictures of the doll. It is hard not to take pictures since I want to make memories as soon as possible.

    9. I keep her in her kipping bag and let her rest the first night 'at home' on my nightstand. Then the next day she usually goes into a Halloween costume - no matter what time of year - my girls 1st outfits are always Halloween costumes, if only just for a day!

    10. Faceup, faceup, faceup - until it looks and feels right!

    11. Through cleaning with a damp Mr. Clean eraser, and then faceup either wiping or tweaking. Once I'm satisfied its dressing and putting the character together...

    12. Once I open the box and take pictures, I really just sit there with her for a while absorbing the novelty of having a new girl in the crew. Then I try out all of the wigs and eyes I have, and put her in clothes, and spend a while just posing her and looking at her from different angles. Then I take MORE pictures and tell everyone that she's here and continue to just sit where ever I was when I opened her and think she's beautiful. Sometimes I have wigs and eyes ready for when they come, but more often I don't, so the new girl gets to try on all of the eyes, wigs, and clothes I have until her style emerges and I having the money to order her a wardrobe. Eventually she'll get stored in the doll cabinet like all of the other girls where I can gaze at her adoringly every time I walk through my room.

    13. First thing I do with a new doll? NEKKID PHOTO OP!

    14. I check everything is as it should be - no cracks etc. Put eyes in. Stand the doll. (This is all after loud rejoicing and great excitement.) Then I look for clothes and a wig. I wait to see if she will tell me her name. After a while I will do a faceup. I wait to get a feel for what she wants.... I start making clothes for her....

    15. Feel the resin of every part.

    16. I usually do what I do for any online purchase and make sure there is no damage and check the joints (how well they move, if they're too tight, etc.) Then I gotta text all my buddies excitedly and send them pics lol then a toooon of sewing, I get so excited that I'm motivated to start making clothes right away. I always message the company as well to let them know the doll arrived safe and sound :)

    17. When I first get a doll, I tend to make them a few items that are just for them that I don't use on my other dolls. It makes it feel like they have a more defined persona to me.

    18. I like to pose them with my other dolls in a scene, which usually inspires me to write more of my doll story :daisy

    19. The first moment with a new doll (after the packaging is completely removed) I just hold them in my hands and stare at them. :whee: Then I handle them to find their center of gravity and stand them up. It still amazes me that every doll is weighted a little differently. After that I usually try any spare eyes in their head (to figure out what size and shape will fit best) and then try on every single wig I have that vaguely fits to check sizes and styles on them. And then I've usually wasted a whole afternoon!
