1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Flickr to SmugMug?

Apr 23, 2018

    1. Is the deadline to switch over to pro still Jan 8th? I have 2 Flickr accounts, one Pro and one Free. The Pro account has been pro for almost 10 years. It stores doll photos. The Free account stores travel photos. I’m not sure how to transfer photos from the free to pro account. So, meanwhile, I will go Pro in my free account for 1 month before deciding on what to do. I forgot about the deadline. Today would be my last day to convert the free.

I have been loyal to Flickr Pro for many years, in difficult times and in good, feel bad to leave but I am upset that Flickr attracted expanded with their free TB storage offer and then suddenly turn around and give this surprise. It feels like a trap. I’m sorry.

The Pro account renewed last month at the old yearly price, not sure if they will auto charge the difference in rates.

    2. Now I’m reading that it’s February 5th. I’m confused. I’m assuming the renewals will be starting from 2019 but I guess we will see. Very annoying.

    3. I ended up going pro because I had way too many photos (well over 4000) to download and find another place for. But I don't plan on renewing next year. I'm looking into finding somewhere else. :/

    4. I'm just saying, imgur's honestly pretty great for picture hosting.

    5. I was pretty much assuming that I would just upgrade to pro (I have way over a thousand photos on flickr and so many of them are linked here that it would be a mess to move somewhere else), but they're not doing a great job of convincing me. Not only have they locked my ability to upload more photos (which I knew they were going to do) but i can't even view my already existing photos anymore. It's pretty much a useless site. Flickr's instability as always been an annoyance but now that I might be paying for their service it's a problem. I don't want to pay for a site that isn't going to work.....not sure how I want to move on from here.

    6. I...just use my phone to post picture. I haven’t had any trouble with that. Not sure what either of these are.

    7. I am cleaning up my camera roll photos that are not public in my Pro account, then I hope to transfer all the photos from the non pro account to the pro account. Meanwhile, I converted the non pro account to a monthly pro account so that I don’t lose any photos. I am however very annoyed that it does not allow me to download more than 500 photos at a time. It’s too tidious but I cannot keep 2 Flickr Pro accounts.

I suspected long time ago that photo hosting online isn’t going to be free.....I don’t like the way Flick marketed it’s free TB hosting service, made it such a big deal and then suddenly turn around with “.....oops.....you must pay” it’s a trap.

    8. I know this is an older thread, but can anyone please recommend a "no brainer" photo hosting site?
One that even someone who is a functioning "tech" illiterate can easily use?
      Thanks

    9. I use imgur for basic photo-hosting. It works much like photobucket used to. I stopped using Flickr back when Melissa Meyer or whatever her name is ruined... basically everything in a half-baked attempt to 'update it to the modern age.'

On recently looking at it, the whole site is slow and areas have the 'new code' while others have the 'old code' and it's just... a huge mess.
